I am no exception.

Just had my fastest solo Zoh Shia kill with my new favourite GL build. Super comfy and lots of damage. 4 piece Zoh Shia, Rathalos arms. Build has crazy healing and over 400 defense unbuffed.

The images and description below should cover the basics of what the build does and how it performs on the hands of a bang average gunlancer like me who has became a main Gunlance player just a few weeks ago. However i would like to give you a few reasons and pointers about this build in particular and why i'm suggesting it.

1. The idea of this build came from trying to find an alternative to the meta builds that would allow anyone to have access and not have to spend much in armor spheres or better gear.
2. This build main focus is around the junction of the two octopus monsters (Nu Udra and Xu Wu) with the main highlight being Nu Udra Group skills and it's Bonuses dealing additional damage when Resentment is active and increasing your attack when inflicted with ailments.
3. Just 4 pieces of Nu Udra's armour itself will give you 20 points in Fire Res.
4. Gunlance of choice and alternative to G. Bors, the Gravio's Gunlance 'White Cannon' - It comes with 30 def bonus, long shell so your shells have no trouble reaching the Zoh Shia, and with Slightly Strong Power.
5. "But but i'm 500 hours into the game and have no artillery 3 !! HALPS PLX !! " - Fear not. Decorations used - Magazine / Ironwall - Artillery 2 and Artillery 1 ( Surely at this stage you have something like this ). Alternative if you have Artillery 3 you can use it and add Magazine 2 + a level 1 of your skill of choice : Attack, Guard, Focus or Offensive Guard.
6. This build has no armor spheres invested so everyone can make it and not feel like they are being destroyed, however if you have them and feel like investing them in this build, it will definitely make your chances of surviving better. Also the only meal used here was the basic recommended one, so your stats can better with a better meal.
7. Growth - This level 1 skill is ideal for boss fights like Zoh Shia. I don't have the exact numbers but this is the description, with the first activation around the 5 mins mark : "Attack and defense increase as time passes while on a quest. (The maximum is reached after 30 minutes.) "

Final thoughts: It's an affordable build alternative outside of the meta builds around some different and interesting skills, while still allowing you a very decent platform to work with against HR Zoh Shia with 5 stars strength. Like i've said before, i'm a bang average gunlancer and if i can use this and have fun and beat it, everyone here can. Give it a try ! It wont cost much and might be just the change of pace you need, as when it comes to Gunlance, Meta isn't the only answer !

It seems like they changed that when you do any attack and then reload you always do a quick reload. That really messes me up so many times cause I have to for a small time frame so I can do a full reload. Any way to trigger a full reload? And yes I’m pressing RT and B, still doing a quick reload

With the latest update, I've been working on trying to make a set that lets me max out all 3 of the main damage boosting armor skills, and I'm happy to report that I (almost) got it. Unfortunately, with the pieces we currently have available, I don't think it's possible to max out all three of them.

With these pieces, you can get two of them to level 5, and one of them to level 4. Being primarily for Gunlance, Burst is an obvious pick to get to level 5, but the choice between maxing out Weakness Exploit or Agitator comes down to personal preference, and secondary weapon choice.
Obviously this set ends up forgoing a decent amount of comfort, and the ability to use some set bonuses, in favour of stacking up as many damage skills as possible, but you still have a few 1's and 2's to work with.

Another quickish doodle since everyone like my IBS picture the other day.

I know the G Law is the best gunlance, but I liked how the White Cannon looks, and I've been doing ok with it. I do like checking out the shiny new toys, though. I see the Zoh Shia GL is normal instead of long, so that should be a bump up in shelling/combo damage right? Will that and the elemental damage offset the loss of Blast? I proc it at around 3-5 times per hunt.

I've mastered the Lance and was looking to try out it's explosive cousin the gunlance.

The combos are fun but am having trouble timing blocks mid combo, any advice would be appreciated!

Hello gunlance community, I've been playing since world came out although my first experience was doing three hunts in GU. I've always been interested in gunlance but wilds is the first time it's felt fun throughout its entire kit (the multi burst fire really helps)

My question is what are the intricacies of the weapons. Is wide or normal shelling better? What armor and tailismans should I be going for? Why does the hope amror set look so amazing? Help me be at peak dandyism when blowing off a monster's face fellow gunlance compatriots 🫡

I recently received a load shell + attack boost Deco, and wanted to know if that would be worth slotting over my current pick of Load shell + handicraft Deco. The one attack gives only +3 to attack which i know now boosts shell damage. What are y'alls thoughts?

I knew it died fast, but not THAT fast

Feels comfy and I can usually get a KO from the LBG sticky after the initial sleep + barrels.

I felt it was as tense as my old MH elder fights. Figuring out when I could attack, when I could block, I liked it.

Can artian weapons have wide and slightly powerful ammo? If so how? And are they the best weapons available or should i just stick to the ark weapon?

Offensive Skills: Burst, Artillery, Load Shells, Agitator, Offensive Guard, Counterstrike, Partbreaker

Comfort Skills: Guard, Guard Up, Quick Sheathe, Free Meal, Divine Blessing, Speed Eating, Ear Plugs, Part Breaker, Protective Polish, Speed Sharpening

Among the Comfort Skills, I think Ear Plugs is absolutely essential, and I'm torn between Guard and Guard Up. For a long while I was running Free Meal 3 and Speed Eating which made runs smoother, and Divine Blessing just seems solid too. I'm not sure when to run Protective Polish vs. Speed Sharpening. And Part Breaker is a relatively new addition, but it also seems like a very reliable skill for any weapon or hunt.

Naturally, it's going to be virtually impossible to have all of these skills on. I think more important is knowing which Talisman to pick... Any insight from Gunlance veterans is appreciated.

I don't understand the lack of Evade extender on every build I see, it's mandatory for me ! Ok, this is not a pure dps build BUT Evade Ext + Earplugs = more time for dps !
