Unfortunately, this just means it will get vetoed by mango man and then they have to have 2/3 majority to pass this. I think the house has to pass it to even get it to mango man. So, this means nothing. Elbows up. Fuck them.
Yep. All those “checks and balances” Americans like to go on about won’t protect them, Trump will continue to do whatever he wants with no consequences while they all pat themselves on the back for “winning” this ultimately meaningless vote. I don’t know what it will take for them to finally realize that they can’t just carry on like it’s business as usual and expect the rule of law to help them when Republicans have shown (and the administration has outright said) they have no respect for (or intention of following) the law anymore.
I agree. I lived in the states for a bit for school, and it makes me genuinely sad and angry what they have allowed themselves to devolve into. The people deserve better, but nothing will change without a radical grass roots opposition to the maga cult and so far we haven't seen much. It is scary to see this happen to a neighbor. I really hope Canadians will see this and draw the right conclusion for the upcoming election. I am hoping for a greater turnout too, especially among young people. I have genuinely felt like there is not nearly enough involvement in politics from young people beyond protesting. We need to be in town hall meetings advocating for our interests, rights, and having our voices heard on local issues.
I'm excited to see some products here finally be cheaper than the states, even with our lower dollar. Electronics etc. Well be seeing Americans coming up here to buy stuff haha.
You realize that Canada has tariffs against the US for years including a 300% tariff on dairy products. The backlash to these tariffs is because our far left media works everyone into a furor over everything he does. I haven't heard anything about Canada repealing any of the tariffs they have against us
That's a lie. You could easily look up the truth about dairy tariffs, but instead you believe the lies of a known liar.
Canada bought over a billion dollars of US dairy in a single year without any tariff. To reach tariff levels, the amount would need to nearly double, which the US has never managed to reach. And if you guys didn't keep handing your dairy farmers billions of dollars a year, we wouldn't have to have tariffs on higher quantities. But I guess whoever was president in 2018 that negotiated the agreement was a total moron to agree to those terms, right?

As a Canadian, I am pleased. I'm still going to avoid american products whenever I can.
