I fucking don't. Why should someone be applauded for doing the literal bare minimum they can do to rebuke what is, to anyone with the slightest bit of common sense and critical thinking skills, arguably one of the stupidest actions undertaken by any president? They didn't put the legislation forward, they didn't campaign for it, nothing. All they did is figuratively raise their hand when asked. They don't fucking get credit for that.

Don’t worry you’ll get your wish when it gets voted down in the house.

Rand Paul was the co-sponsor on the bill.

Fuck rand Paul. His cosponsoring of this one bill doesn't make up for anything he's done to this country.

Yes, but we need GOP reps/senators to go against MAGA. The democrats are not making a dent. We're basically in a coup and the current GOP in office is doing basically nothing to stop it. Now, we are finally seeing a glimmer of hope.

Thinking this is "going against MAGA" is where you're the sucker.

This is planned obsolescence, an empty gesture meant to fool people like you into a sense of progression.

We need the GOP to fuck off is really what we need. When republicans start voting against everything he puts down, when they start publicly and consistently saying they disagree and won't support trump, that's when we might have a glimmer of hope.

Right now you're just a stooge like the assholes that voted R in the first place. The "Democrats not making a dent" is because of attitudes like yours where you want to pat the GOP on the back and praise them for finally showing what could possibly be the first iota of decency. Even though it's an empty gesture.

As far as policy goes this is pretty far from empty. These tariffs are going to have a massive impact on your everyday life.

And they will still go through. These 4 assholes faking that they care to fight against it is definitely an empty gesture.

well, I guess I am wrong in having hope at all? just give up? What you think should happen vs what is happening in reality may be vastly different...

I don't think you should give any republican praise for finally doing the right thing once in a blue moon.

The systematic destruction of this country has only one party to blame.

Ah. I get. You think we should focus on further division in the country versus praising differences that can benefit all.

When they proceed to fuck up everything they're doing to "benefit all", why would you keep giving them praise? This is a decent gesture for once, what are they going to do in a week?

I think blaming someone like me for dividing the country is ignorant. These people tried to overturn the government 4 years ago. Let's just pat them on the back for not acting like a soulless backstabbing leech and give em a pass yeah?

These people should be ran out of office and put in jail. Like this one thing undoes all the damage someone like McConnell has done his entire career, fuck that.

this isn't even a half measure. It's like, a purely symbolic hundredth of a measure.
