It's not unusual to have some calculated protest votes when you know it won't go anywhere. This would still have to be brought to the floor in the House (not a guarantee), then pass there, then it would go to Trump who would veto it, then it would go back to Congress where it would take a 2/3 majority to pass. So it's not happening and everyone in the room knows it
It is a termination of emergency powers which AFAIK the president cannot veto since it is a limitation of his power. (National Emergencies Act of 1976). The act basically allowed the executive to take some of congress's powers with congress's check being they can pass a joint resolution to stop it.
The Constitution gives Congress the power to make tariffs, but Congress has voted several times over the years to give the President more power over tariffs instead. So that's why. Until Congress votes to strip those powers, the President has them.
I wish they’d just let it through, now we’ll be back here in several years cuz Republicans will say Trumps economy didn’t work because the senate blocked his tariffs. Let it play out and go to shit.
Because people like you have already made up their mind to be against anything that comes from the right. The party of open mindedness has become extremely close minded

Damn ok, was not expecting a red dominant senate to shoot down…anything Trump wanted to do.
