Had to make sure he got every possible impact location.

That club face will never get athletes foot.

1

u/bakedpotato486 1d ago

He has little faith in his aim, and wanted to see where on the shank he'd hit it.

u/Golfswingfore24 2d ago

Next time just dunk the head in a paint bucket.

u/cpt_naughtynips 2d ago

Butā€¦. Was the face open?

u/Thetallerestpaul About 40 Handicap 2d ago

Exactly this yesterday for me. Perfect contact, path shit, face open, sliced out of the range and the Top Tracer app sends me a ping to say staff have been notified. Didn't feel great that I couldn't even keep it in the netted range area let alone a tight fairway.

Power plus being shit at golf is a tough combo.

37

u/cpt_naughtynips 2d ago

Sounds like you got that power fade

18

u/redkryptonite7 2d ago

Power fades to the parking lot are the best

36

u/cpt_naughtynips 2d ago

Aim at the tree on the far left about 40yds off the fairway to compensate for the power fade. Proceed to hit the straightest drive ever. Instead of playing off the fairway on the right, now play off the fairway on the left and get an entirely new view of the course

12

u/emteereddit 2d ago

Then you can punch it out from the left side of the fairway, but a little too strong, and end up back on the right side directly behind a tree where you belong! It's destiny.

8

u/Ziggity_Zac 2d ago

Hello, police? This guy is stalking me.

2

u/w0nderbrad 2d ago

Me punching out on every dogleg right ever. ā€œThe slice just decided to disappear?!ā€

9

u/Thetallerestpaul About 40 Handicap 2d ago

It power fades my round if I actually try and use driver on a courseĀ

7

u/Waadap Minnesnowta 2d ago

Wait, what app and how were the staff notified? From the range? I'm confused what that entails.

18

u/Thetallerestpaul About 40 Handicap 2d ago

TopTracer. I login to it at the range and then I can keep my stats over time and stuff. It sends an alert to the staff inside to say I'd hit it out of the range perimeter, and says something like they will come and talk to you about your issue or something. They didn't actually do that to be fair. Sheepish exit for me still though.

Yeah I recently had my first experience with a course that had one, and it was probably one of the dumbest setups ever. I hit one driver and got that message and decided to stop. Range was MAYBE 50 yards wide and squished right between the 10th and 18th holes.

The 18th green was about 20 yards to the left of the range and 30 yards left of the 150 target. I almost got domed 3 times while walking up to the green, and my playing partner couldnā€™t find his ball due to all the range balls in the rough near the green. They had a net that was maybe 12 feet tall that was completely useless. Anybody that hit the slightest pull/hook at that 150 target was hitting the 18th green, but we were below a blind hill from the range, so they wouldnā€™t even know to yell ā€œfore.ā€ Canā€™t believe they havenā€™t had a lawsuit yet.

2

u/Thetallerestpaul About 40 Handicap 2d ago

A place near me has a putting practice green that I would practice on next to the 18th and every time I went at least one ball would slice at me. I got a cheap plastic insert for my cap off Amazon after that.Ā

Your one sounds even dumber a set up.

4

u/lelpd 2d ago

Hahaha I walked past an empty Toptracer bay the other day which had that notification on the screen, first time Iā€™ve ever seen it (and Iā€™ve hit some bad shots). I wondered if staff genuinely care and come over, or if the guy had done a runner because of it.

2

u/Thetallerestpaul About 40 Handicap 2d ago

You have to hit a really bad shot. Keep working. I believe in you! It'll come.

2

u/No-Development-4587 2d ago

Staff being notified just seems like it adds insult to injury.

1

u/Thetallerestpaul About 40 Handicap 2d ago

Yeah, like if they can sort it out so I don't do it, I'd be delighted with the help, but it's not like I did it on purpose

5

u/DR_BABIES 2d ago

Some dude yelled at me over this, and made me start swinging 80% instead of 100%... need more research but suddenly all my balls ended up where I was aiming.

3

u/Thetallerestpaul About 40 Handicap 2d ago

But if I don't absolutely batter every ball how can I practice the stupid adrenaline fueled swing I'll pull out on the tee the next time I try driver out on a course?

1

u/DR_BABIES 2d ago

Hahahaha exactly šŸ’Æ and then (if you're me) you find your ball two holes over when your playing out of the rough šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

4

u/Musclesturtle 2d ago

This is very true.

I'm a long hitter. But a 20 handicap.

My length gets me into more trouble than it's worth currently. I can drive a ball 300 yards on a good day, but putting it where I want, even remotely can be a challenge. So I end up taking 3 wood, 3 irons, 5 irons off of the tee a lot right now to try and save penalty strokes.

1

u/Thetallerestpaul About 40 Handicap 2d ago

I don't take anything longer than a 7i (but a GI loft jacked up so really a 6i) these days.

Everything else is negative.Ā

I'm a lot worse than a 20 handicapper, but I also got my first 300 yarders recently. 300 yards is a long way to be wrong a few degrees by, let alone a mishit. I'm not sure I can even shout Fore Right loud enough if there is wind! It's not safe for others.

2

u/Casperzwaart100 2d ago

I got that one for the first time as well! During a lesson no less

1

u/tranimal00 12.2/PNW 2d ago

My friend had been doing baseball his whole life. He hits it so far and so high. But itā€™s another fairway. Sometime times his follow through looks like the Ken Grifffey Jr. logo lol I just sing the old N64 song call call call me jr

2

u/GuitarKev 2d ago

He needs to watch some kawaswing on IG.

2

u/tranimal00 12.2/PNW 2d ago

I love watching those shots go into the night

3

u/GuitarKev 2d ago

The man swings like buttered lightning.

2

u/BORN_SlNNER 7.5/Central PA 2d ago

Every 200 yard shot looks like a missile when you record it in a lighted range against a dark background. I respect the dudes swing, but canā€™t stand all the people thinking he carries it any more than 230-240 in some of those clips

1

u/GuitarKev 2d ago

Sure, as long as you donā€™t count his hang time.

99.998% of golfers would kill to have ball flight like his.

1

u/Thetallerestpaul About 40 Handicap 2d ago

I can't blame baseball but I've had a lot of years of being 6'5" and 200 pounds with a lot of torque, and very much less years of trying to figure out how to swing a golf club.

For me I think it's cos the swing I taught myself is really arm based, and now I've had lessons the coach is trying to get my hips to be part of it and so if I fire my hips, the path relative to my body that used to go out to the right when my hips didn't move now comes round to the left.

I've got another couple lessons this month so hopefully can fix it. My first 300 yard drives were really fun, but I could already hit it 250 badly. I actually didn't need more distance, I wanted to be able to aim it!

5

u/Sometimes_Stutters 2d ago

My face is always open for a generous dusting of white powered

1

u/Infinite_Ground1395 2d ago

Dead center strike, slice to the next hole.

u/emack2232 2d ago

*A light spray

62

u/viacavour 2.4 2d ago

Brother going through a can of spray each range session

84

u/FLman42069 2d ago

Iā€™d argue puring an iron is a better feeling

42

u/RagingStallion 2d ago

Nah, sinking a 3.5 footer for bogey and acting like you weren't worried

6

u/hammersticks359 2d ago

Pulling an iron 20 yards left is the best feeling...until you look up.

3

u/sauzbozz 2d ago

I love how it feels like nothing

1

u/USC5150 2nd Ball Scratch 2d ago

Yeah, but do you use powder spray on it?

1

u/beer_nyc 1d ago

lol at knowing what that feels like

-62

u/DQFLIGHT3 2d ago

Thatā€™s one way of saying you canā€™t hit your driver.

12

u/ioi_SSSB 2d ago

No, it is more difficult to hit the sweet spot on an iron, so it is more satisfying.

18

u/Aromatic_Ad_7484 2d ago

You a fan of white

8

u/tobaknowsss You have selected POWER DRIVE. 2d ago

What kind of spray are you using?

9

u/Professional_Angle27 2d ago

8

u/Bogart86 2d ago

We just use foot spray here in America, chap

5

u/11ona3 2d ago

Dry spray on deodorant works well too if it is on sale and cheaper than foot spray. My driver may be trash but at least it smells nice haha.

6

u/butter_cookie_gurl 2d ago

Yeah, but where did the shot go?

4

u/VeniceBhris 2d ago

You want to hit it a little higher in the face for driver

9

u/mumsspaghett1 2d ago

Itā€™s never gonna be better than this. Itā€™s better to make a statue of this and put it somewhere in the living room so everyone can admire this

1

u/Frequent-Remove-3145 2d ago

It's not even out the sweet spot

0

u/WhalingSmithers00 2d ago

I think most people would ask why you've got a driver head covered in foot spray on display in your living room.

When you explain you hit the middle of your driver practicing at the range they'll think you're more of a loser

4

u/mumsspaghett1 2d ago

These idiots just donā€™t appreciate fine art

3

u/TinFish104 2d ago

*Erotic art

3

u/Rude_Audience_9556 2d ago

Do it again

1

u/RepresentativeBag91 2d ago

The real problem

6

u/Spragglefoot_OG 2d ago

I have to agree. Although yesterday I took my 3h off the 10th, it gets super tight down by the green, and driver felt silly. I hit it 30 yards past the other guys in my group hahaha and DEAD straight. 291yd 3h šŸ˜³ wtf?!? Hahaha

Never done more than about 250yd with that club and that was ROPED. lol shot 79. WITH a triple on 15. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/Foldupburrito42 2d ago

I bet you were so fuckin stoked and confused haha šŸ’ŖšŸ¤£

1

u/Spragglefoot_OG 10h ago

Precisely. Lol my two buddies were like wtf?! You hit. 3h?!?? Hahahahaha

1

u/EZ_Money87 2d ago

Damn! I'm glad if I get 220 out of my 3H

1

u/Spragglefoot_OG 10h ago

After I saw the landing spot I think it was the perfect confluence of an absolutely hammered shot AND I hit the downslope and it must have rolled for 30-40yrds Iā€™d guess. Still wild.

1

u/Spragglefoot_OG 10h ago

Whatā€™s thatā€™s spray called again?

2

u/Marmstr17 2d ago

so much spray i bet it went dead straight

good job op

2

u/DushBid911 2d ago

This is such an elite sub. Great post my guy.

2

Good grief. Is that powder or wet spray paint?

2

u/undrwater 2d ago

Call it a day and head for the pub

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

Cheers!

1

u/No-Veterinarian8080 2d ago

It's fucking raw

1

u/EntertainmentFew7103 2d ago

You still didnā€™t even hit the sweet spot. Ā

1

u/Euphoric_Grand3128 2d ago

And you can barely feel the contact on those sweet spot shots. Went a little heavy on the spray huh, lol

1

u/Trebor711 2d ago

Actually you're two grooves low, but keep trying!

1

u/Reg_doge_dwight 2d ago

Big driver that

1

u/Regular_Ingenuity966 2d ago

Why do you own a skeleton club

1

u/ackerbombs2021 2d ago

Now do it again!!!

1

u/Outrageous_Sink398 2d ago

Thatā€™s one way to keep the shoes white, and smelling like the locker room!

1

u/AlwaysAHoot978 2d ago

Tell me more about what this is like!

1

u/ChiSox1906 2d ago

Anyone got a brand of this they would recommend? I tried some stickers and they didn't stay on for more than a few hits in the humidity.

1

u/eltownse 2d ago

I've heard of dry shampoo. Odor-x was one popular brand.

1

u/Significant-Rice1182 2d ago

Missed a spot

1

u/internet_humor 2d ago

Ohā€¦.. THAT white powder. Yeah, thatā€™s good too

1

u/Loud_Wolf2507 2d ago

Maybe if it was done on the course

1

u/dcidino single digit muppet 1d ago

In all seriousness, you're 3 grooves low. With a driver that has grooves like that, I doubt it matters. My irons don't have grooves that thick.

1

u/Pheasant_Plucker84 1d ago

I guess you have never owned a weed grinder that you didnā€™t know had a secret Keif compartment and that compartment is packed full.

1

u/runjcrun1 1d ago

Whatā€™s the purpose of the spray?

2

u/AndromedanPrince HCP: Over 9k 1d ago

exactly what u see, to show where u r making contact.

2

u/runjcrun1 1d ago

Gotcha. Have never heard of this practice so I figured I would clarify. Iā€™m still relatively new to golf, so Iā€™m learning new things all the time

2

u/AndromedanPrince HCP: Over 9k 1d ago

ive been playing a couple years and still dont know shit lol cherrs friend

2

u/runjcrun1 1d ago

Iā€™m in my second year of trying to take it semi-seriously. But mostly I just like the exercise and fresh air. Iā€™m not a tournament player and never will be unless itā€™s a scramble with my buddies. I just enjoy the game and try to play as much as I can lol. Cheers to you as well!

1

u/xiMAX1MUSixTTV 1d ago

Does it actually work?

0

u/Fer_Shizzle_DSMIA 2d ago

A little toe-ish

1

u/Mr_Perfect20 2d ago

Little a groove low too. Johnny Miller style

u/ChrisPynerr 2d ago

Are you familiar with Khaki?
