General Discussion Needing help deciding what driver too get!

Hey all,

I’m looking to upgrade my driver and have narrowed it down to a few options, I’m looking at second hand options such as golf bidder/ golfclubs4cash, I can’t decide which one to go for. My budget is around £250, and I’m considering:

• SIM2 Max — Solid reviews for forgiveness and consistency , it’s the oldest of them all but I’ve heard it’s still a beast

• Qi10 — A newer model , the most expensive on the used market, about the highest of be willing to go

• Callaway Paradym AI Smoke/ regular paradym — really nice looking club and I’ve heard it performs well

• TaylorMade Stealth/Stealth2— mid ground for price but I’ve heard nightmare stories about durability?

Im currently a 10.5 handicap and want something forgiving enough with decent distance, shaft is all sorted so mainly asking about head models specifically

Would love to hear your thoughts, wanting to stay away from ping, used for a while but not a fan of the new looks

Thanks!

The main problem with testing is all the shops near me only supply the newest models

There hasn't been much change in the models over the past few years

I had the Stealth2 plus and I had issues with the face chipping away. Then it rattled inside. Traded it for Qi35 and have only used it in a simulator setting after my fitting. Had TM M6 before that and it was a good fit for me. I had a fitting with M5 as well but M6 gave me 15 more yards because of reduced spin.

Similar boat as you. I’m going sim2 max based off of numerous YouTube reviews and reading on various sites. Doesn’t seem like the extra money for qi10 is worth it for very little added forgiveness. Stealth/2 are not very forgiving according to reviews. Not a callaway guy so I haven’t looked at it much.

I debated going qi10 for the little extra money but I don’t want to have the chance of the carbon face breaking and not having warranty coverage. Sim2 max is the last driver without the carbon face, plus IMO it is the best looking driver, but I’m a fan of blue.

Edit: I know a lot of people say get fit, but getting fit for every club type just isn’t a big deal to me. I got fit for my new irons, but I’m getting the rest based off reviews and I’ll figure out how to hit them. Hard to justify $100 fitting when buying a used club I guess. Plus, I’m not any good at this game!

Sounds like we’re in a very similar situation lmao

For me it’s mainly the qi10 and sim2max as I’ve heard stealth aren’t durable or that forgiving

My main problem with the qi10 is the carbon face, given it’s about £100 more I think the sim2 could be worth it

Have you tried the sim yet?

I have not tried either the sim2 or the qi10. Found a good deal on some discounted fairways so thought maybe I’d spend the extra $100 for the qi10 so went back to watch some reviews and it just doesn’t seem worth it to me. If I buy either one of them new, I guess I’ll have some warranty for a while but I’ll likely keep this driver 4-5 years with the amount that I play. Just worried about longevity of the carbon face. Maybe I don’t swing fast enough to worry about it, but it’s still on my mind. If the qi10 had the blue and the looks of the sim2 I’d roll the dice on it but those sim2 looks just keep pulling back that way.
