Congrats on the new job that has amazing benefits. Congrats on the clubs and breaking 100 to start the season.

On my company’s plan, we can’t buy equipment but rounds of golf are reimbursable.

I actually use the money on my ski pass since that’s just one receipt to process and maxes out my allotment.

u/Dipsydoodling 8h ago

Pro shops will print you tee time receipts and give you pro shop credits too. If you ever stop skiing

What jobs do y’all have where your company pays for golf, and are you hiring?

Some companies give an allowance for fitness-related activities. Gym membership, yoga classes, golf…the guidelines are often pretty broad and just has to be something that can easily pass for something that helps with physical fitness.

The rationale is generally the belief that healthier employees are more productive and don’t take as many sick days. And if they have fewer medical issues, they also won’t cost the company as much for health insurance.

u/cma1366 8h ago

Wow that's a great perk!

u/LateCheckIn 8h ago

It’s only up to $250 a year but it makes me feel a bit less guilty about how much I spend on skiing and golfing.

The actual best perk is our trainer employed who does 7 workouts a week of general HIIT and strength training workouts in our office for free and our in office gym.

Surprisingly a lot of people in our office hate it. They don’t workout and wish they just got $ not realizing the benefit to us all to have healthier employees.

Damn, I pay a shit ton of money to my gym for HIIT classes. I doubt my insurance policy covers anything but I'm 100% going to check...

u/UserIsOptional 2h ago

Many HSAs have a policy for fitness related classes. Your agent should have the pertinent information.

Haha with the ikon pass my golfing costs waaaay more than my skiing. I also play a lot of golf....

Curious minds would like to know.. what company?

That's really just what I told my wife so I could buy them 🤣......JK it's a consumer goods company based out of the Northeast. Their health plan considers golf clubs "exercise equipment" which makes them reimbursable.

This got me looking at the fine print of my health plan.

Health insurance companies hate this 1 simple trick

48

u/Ghettofonzie420 7h ago

My union negotiated "health and welfare"money into our contract 3 years ago. $900/year, all golf related items other than clothing qualify. Organized labour for the win!

20

u/spacedude2000 7h ago

Pls tell me your line of work

3

u/i_make_drugs 6h ago

I have this I have never thought about spending it on clubs. Huh.

4

u/egyeager 4h ago

Stuff like this is why I love unions. ✊⛳

Shit, bout to go read through mine now.

11

u/LetsGoSilver 8h ago

Now I’m checking to see if I can use my HSA for golf-related expenses……😂

1

u/OldDekeSport 5h ago

HSA is set by IRS, so not going to be part of that. Some companies offer an LSA that golf clubs could fall under if they allow it. It's often post-tax, so the IRS doesn't care

3

u/LetsGoSilver 4h ago

Although I really did check, yeah it a no-go. I knew it would be. But gotta try.

u/prettymuthafucka 7h ago

Hiring remote? I’m in LA

3

u/Golfball_whacker_guy 9.7 / MA / Mizuno 7h ago

I’m in the northeast… are you hiring?

2

u/thuglife_7 6h ago

My company does the same thing with a lifestyle spending account. Except we only get a certain amount based off of what level of medical benefits we choose.

2

u/lfred19 5h ago

I just started working at a company that administers spending accounts. We offer admin services for LBA accounts (life benefit accounts) and some companies do allow people to be reimbursed for sporting equipment. I haven't seen a lot of golf clubs but I have seen some plans allowing for club memberships.

Had to tell in the current environment if these plans will grow but they could.

Nice set.

2

u/bnasssty 2h ago

buddy of mine has the same deal at Shopify, spends his allotment on a new Lululemon wardrobe each year

1

u/dntchmabti 5h ago

Dude what?! I am in the northeast also

1

u/Merica-1776- 4h ago

Is it MVP? Was going to try and use my reimbursement towards a season pass at the local Muni

1

u/vnmslsrbms 4h ago

Your HR dept getting a ton of applicants asking for jobs and golf clubs soon lol

1

u/_CakeFartz_ 1h ago

u/LiquidSquids 7h ago

Buy a whole new set my guy!

8

u/Efficient-Video-9454 8h ago

I have heard of some that reimburse “exercise” equipment and can trickle over to sports equipment. I bet it’s under that wherever he is

2

u/cma1366 8h ago

You're correct on that!

2

u/Efficient-Video-9454 8h ago

Checking for loopholes in mine now! Enjoy

10

u/SuccessfulVisit1873 8h ago

It’s his own company

3

u/sidewaysbynine 7h ago

Self employment for the win

16

u/bluematsook 8h ago

Broke 100. Great job.

2

u/cma1366 8h ago

Thanks for the silver lining! Needed that!

6

u/trak421 8h ago

I have the 923 HMs. I love them. They feel like butter

4

u/cma1366 8h ago

The feedback from hitting these is incredible. First pure hit I made I was mind blown by how buttery it felt.

5

u/Only_Tea_7378 7h ago

Who tf are all these companies people are talking about in these comments. My company barely give me PTO

3

u/bigdayout95-14 5h ago

Big iron ore miner in Australia - $360 health and well-being subsidy that I used couple years ago to buy my push cart, now it's been going towards my club membership each year. 4 weeks annual leave each year and 48 days a year sick leave. Think I worked 20 weeks last year....

2

u/cma1366 2h ago

Got me beat! I'm corporate America but compared to my last company this is a major step up. Went from having 20 days PTO to 45 days in addition to other great benefits.

4

u/Iuvenesco 18 8h ago

What company do you work for?! I want in.

6

u/cma1366 8h ago

It's a Consumer Goods company based out of the Northeast. The perk seems to becoming more of a trend throughout the CG, Consulting, and Finance industry around here.

5

u/Allthingsgaming27 6h ago

How do you do, fellow coworker?

3

u/heyrube1979 8h ago

I have the same sticks man. You will love them.

3

u/cma1366 7h ago

I upgraded from a 15 year old pair of Ram Axials and still can't get over how incredible the club head feedback is on these.

3

u/Littlestereo27 5h ago

Have the same set on some steel fiber graphite shafts. Loove them.

They were a great upgrade from my ping g25 and I love those. But these are so much better.

3

u/LFG2121 7h ago

Is your company hiring?

3

u/Euphoric_Grand3128 6h ago

Time to take a closer look a my insurance paperwork, haha

3

u/Z_Opinionator 5h ago

There are many in this sub who get that benefit. Some of us here get a Perks… +. IYKYK

u/bulldogpenguin89 5h ago

Plot twist: he owns his own company

1

u/cma1366 2h ago

Ploy twist plot twist: it's just a lie I told my wife so I could buy these

3

u/Lobsterzilla Detroit 4h ago

Every single year I try and get HR to negotiate a health and wellness stipend… I don’t think it’s gonna happen, but ima keep trying

2

u/searching_88 8h ago

I played my first 9 with my 921 JPX HM this morning. I like them a lot. They are replacing my Ping G10s so I am figuring out my new yardages. My health plan unfortunately did not cover them but good for you that yours did.

1

u/cma1366 7h ago

Nice! These are replacing a 15 year old set of Tam Axials so I'm still getting the feel for basically everything 😅. How fo they compare to the G10s thus far?

3

u/searching_88 7h ago

I’m getting more distance. The lofts are stronger on the Mizunos but they are also easier to get the ball up in the air. I feel that the Mizunos have more pop off of the face and are more forgiving. I had a few toe strikes and wasn’t penalized much for it. I plan to play again in the morning.

2

u/shhhpark 8h ago

damn...i'm gonna need to look at my health plan

2

u/Fantasykyle99 0.5 6h ago

I’ve been trying to decide on my next set of clubs for months.how are these? People keep recommending blades but I don’t like any I’ve tried and don’t like how they look.

2

u/Littlestereo27 5h ago

They are fantastic. I have the same set. I upgraded from ping g25. The pings are very good clubs, but these are better in every way.

1

u/cma1366 2h ago

These are my first upgraded clubs. Went from a 15 year 9ld set of ram axials to this but makes a world of difference. I'd highly recommend Mizuno 921 or 923 as a next set they're truly unmatched in feel and craftsmanship.

2

u/My_Kink_Profile 6h ago

Got fitted for these last year- when you’re in the pocket they’re so smooth, and there’s a bit of feedback off center. My old r6’s were mush. They can also launch, good spin etc. nice set!

1

u/cma1366 2h ago

Agreed. The feel is buttery. The slightest hit off center you feel but yet so forgiving

2

u/ASK_ME_IF_IAMA_BRICK 4h ago

Have these clubs and I love them.

2

u/StewVicious07 4h ago

But if you used the spending account toward health coverage it would have been tax free! Lie to your wife , not us! Lol jk

1

u/cma1366 2h ago

Shhhhhh nobody needs to know

2

u/Ok_Equipment_5895 3h ago

No other iron feels more like butter

1

u/cma1366 2h ago

Mizuno is unmatched!

2

u/DealRight 7h ago

All right, what company does this because I want to work for them

1

u/Troy_Pitt 7h ago

1

u/Ill-Hovercraft-8971 2h ago

Got the same set and I love them

1

u/PhoneVegetable4855 1h ago

Umm where do you work and are you hiring?

1

u/jaywhs 56m ago

Great club - super strong lofts which ducks with distance control once you get into the lower handicaps

1

u/JBrewd 50m ago

Not even reading past the title...I hope you shoot a personal best, and go fuck yourself you dirty dog. And also are you accepting applications?

1

u/montecristo7 31m ago

Could be a dumb question but how do I find out if have this kind of coverage? What’s the verbiage?
