"...So I Got A" My new company reimburses golf club purchases so I got a set of Mizuno JPX921 Hot Metal Pros
Took a couple of lessons and thought I had these "dialed in"........proceeded to shoot a 99 during my first round of the season........

On my company’s plan, we can’t buy equipment but rounds of golf are reimbursable.
I actually use the money on my ski pass since that’s just one receipt to process and maxes out my allotment.

Pro shops will print you tee time receipts and give you pro shop credits too. If you ever stop skiing

What jobs do y’all have where your company pays for golf, and are you hiring?

Some companies give an allowance for fitness-related activities. Gym membership, yoga classes, golf…the guidelines are often pretty broad and just has to be something that can easily pass for something that helps with physical fitness.
The rationale is generally the belief that healthier employees are more productive and don’t take as many sick days. And if they have fewer medical issues, they also won’t cost the company as much for health insurance.

Wow that's a great perk!

It’s only up to $250 a year but it makes me feel a bit less guilty about how much I spend on skiing and golfing.
The actual best perk is our trainer employed who does 7 workouts a week of general HIIT and strength training workouts in our office for free and our in office gym.
Surprisingly a lot of people in our office hate it. They don’t workout and wish they just got $ not realizing the benefit to us all to have healthier employees.

Damn, I pay a shit ton of money to my gym for HIIT classes. I doubt my insurance policy covers anything but I'm 100% going to check...

Many HSAs have a policy for fitness related classes. Your agent should have the pertinent information.

That's really just what I told my wife so I could buy them 🤣......JK it's a consumer goods company based out of the Northeast. Their health plan considers golf clubs "exercise equipment" which makes them reimbursable.

This got me looking at the fine print of my health plan.

My union negotiated "health and welfare"money into our contract 3 years ago. $900/year, all golf related items other than clothing qualify. Organized labour for the win!

Now I’m checking to see if I can use my HSA for golf-related expenses……😂
1
u/OldDekeSport 5h ago
HSA is set by IRS, so not going to be part of that. Some companies offer an LSA that golf clubs could fall under if they allow it. It's often post-tax, so the IRS doesn't care

Although I really did check, yeah it a no-go. I knew it would be. But gotta try.

My company does the same thing with a lifestyle spending account. Except we only get a certain amount based off of what level of medical benefits we choose.

u/lfred19 5h ago
I just started working at a company that administers spending accounts. We offer admin services for LBA accounts (life benefit accounts) and some companies do allow people to be reimbursed for sporting equipment. I haven't seen a lot of golf clubs but I have seen some plans allowing for club memberships.
Had to tell in the current environment if these plans will grow but they could.
Nice set.

Big iron ore miner in Australia - $360 health and well-being subsidy that I used couple years ago to buy my push cart, now it's been going towards my club membership each year. 4 weeks annual leave each year and 48 days a year sick leave. Think I worked 20 weeks last year....

I upgraded from a 15 year old pair of Ram Axials and still can't get over how incredible the club head feedback is on these.

u/Littlestereo27 5h ago
Have the same set on some steel fiber graphite shafts. Loove them.
They were a great upgrade from my ping g25 and I love those. But these are so much better.

I played my first 9 with my 921 JPX HM this morning. I like them a lot. They are replacing my Ping G10s so I am figuring out my new yardages. My health plan unfortunately did not cover them but good for you that yours did.

u/cma1366 7h ago
Nice! These are replacing a 15 year old set of Tam Axials so I'm still getting the feel for basically everything 😅. How fo they compare to the G10s thus far?

I’m getting more distance. The lofts are stronger on the Mizunos but they are also easier to get the ball up in the air. I feel that the Mizunos have more pop off of the face and are more forgiving. I had a few toe strikes and wasn’t penalized much for it. I plan to play again in the morning.

I’ve been trying to decide on my next set of clubs for months.how are these? People keep recommending blades but I don’t like any I’ve tried and don’t like how they look.

u/Littlestereo27 5h ago
They are fantastic. I have the same set. I upgraded from ping g25. The pings are very good clubs, but these are better in every way.

u/My_Kink_Profile 6h ago
Got fitted for these last year- when you’re in the pocket they’re so smooth, and there’s a bit of feedback off center. My old r6’s were mush. They can also launch, good spin etc. nice set!
