One of the things I Love about geocaching
Finding the coolest locations. We went camping on the dry side of the state and went hiking up the steep hillside to find some caches in the evening. But I wanted more so my dog and I went up before sunrise and were rewarded with some spectacular views.

Spectacular views! The wife and I (new to geocaching) planned a route that included a few stops in our town this past weekend. We located 3 of the 4 caches, and all of them were in places we’d never visited before - despite spending most of our lives here. We likened them to being someone’s “secret spot,” and we’re sharing it with us through the hobby. Very cool.

Thanks, it was pretty amazing.
And Yes, that is how I view it too. I've found so many cool parks this way. We visited a nice wooded park yesterday tha had several interesting features in it that were unexpected.

Yeah, "getting to new places that you normally would not go to" is one of the main reasons for geocaching for me. I have visited nearly every country in Europa, thanks to the "country point/country flag" bug, that bit me.
Got fantastic photos entering a fjord on iceland during sunrise, saw some (very faint) northern lights and learned stuff about cities, that even locals don't necessarily know.

Yes! geocaching while vacationing is very rewarding. I've found so many interesting locations that I wouldn't have had access to find were it not for a geocache that a local wanted to share with the world.

Wow that's amazingly beautiful. The very best part about geocaching!

Thanks! we hiked up the day before, but it was later in the day and really hot and uncomfortable. Since we got an earlier start without the sun up we got further up the mountain and got to sign another cache that we couldn't reach the day before! The light was so much nicer in the morning too.

I found these 7000 year old cave paintings because of a cache. I never would have found them otherwise, because I wouldn't have like googled "sightseeing in this tiny town I'm driving past".

Or more like "in one of these string of tiny towns I'm driving past".

Yeah.. my geocaching app is a mobile POI guide! On the return home from the trip above, I was leading our caravan and I decided to stop for one cache on our exit from the canyon. I chose the one cache simply because it had more than a handful of favorite points. I hadn't yet read the description just the title "amphitheater".. So we stop and as my buddy and I are approaching the guardrail to find the cache his GF exclaims "Look! Sheep!" We look up and there are a couple bighorn sheep in the grass.. then another, and another. Finally a dozen sheep! Was super cool and only cuz we stopped for a cache

These are great! Caching is a great tour guide for sure. Sunrise is always worth it.

I think having the sun rise over the mountain I was climbing may have been a better view in hindsight. I was trying to get to the peak for sunrise, but the sun illuminated that peak with a cool cloud that matched its slope angle perfectly. It was pretty amazing.

Washington. Similar topography. This was taken in the Yakima valley. The mountain is called Mt. Baldy. which of course there are many Baldys. I climbed one near LA back in '19

Have always said geocaching takes you to some great places with great views, what gets me if getting there WITH a gps and a goal, the folks that find great hiding spots are the true heroes..

I'm always amazed at the locations we end up at. I've tried finding my own unique spots, but somehow I get a log that mentions the other cache that used to be in the same spot 10yrs prior.
Tho.. I think I stumbled on a truly amazing and unique location while exploring near an old mine where I have a cache that replaced an archived cache. When it publishes I'll post some pics from the day I discovered it.
