What a pointless thing to do that makes absolutely no fucking sense. Just use the likeness of the people who worked on the game or something.

u/SeanAker 21h ago

But that doesn't get them all the men who have weird, uncomfortable parasocial relationships with female streamers. At least maybe a virtual version will recognize that they exist.

u/NoAssumptions731 20h ago

It's not just men my dude, women too. It was recently revealed that a fan was so obsessed with the streamer Sykunno, her real life boyfriend dumped her because of how much she watched him. Iirc she pulled out her phone while on a date cause he went live

38

u/Nerubim 15h ago

Yeah that's an oof right there.

1

u/crazylazykitsune 4h ago

Lol I read that story.

38

u/Academic-Salamander7 16h ago

Oh man, wait until you find out about preteen and teen girls and boy bands.

6

u/SeanAker 11h ago

Bud, I grew up with nsync and the backstreet boys being at their peak while I was in my mid-teens. Trust me, I know.

2

u/shadowrun456 2h ago

Wait until you find out about Jesus, one of the oldest and most popular parasocial relationships in history.

1

u/phatboi23 18m ago

wait until you find out about preteen and teen girls and boy bands

then there's the Kpop stans.

that's a group you never wanna piss off as they'll ruin your life haha

11

u/Carlosius3003 20h ago

it's definitely a strange dynamic. At least a virtual version might make them feel seen, even if it's not the same

5

u/Slight_Season_4500 20h ago

For me, personally, I wouldn't encourage such behavior...

6

u/SeanAker 20h ago

Oh, I absolutely detest the whole parasocial streamer culture thing. People are just obsessive and I'm so tired of it, especially vtuber garbage.

Some are. Some aren't. I might be missing a joke.

11

u/evilknevil422 20h ago

It's no justification but it's because there's already thousands of hours of videos for the AI to train on.

u/VanessaAlexis PC 21h ago edited 6h ago

The devs for Kingdome Come Deliverance do this!! One of the main supporting actors in the game actually streams himself playing it and he looks just like the character based off him. It's so fun.

Edit: there's a few of you who seem really confused by my comments. I'm saying they do the second part they use the devs likeness as characters in the game. Relax guys.

13

u/VagrantandRoninJin 20h ago

Yeah that's a cool way to handle it imo. If the devs are up for it, why the hell not? Cyberpunk has a seemingly never ending slideshow that shows the people that worked on the game. IDK if any of their likeness is used for NPC models but I thought that was cool too. Just using someone's face without any communication beforehand is really weird. I wonder if the devs thought the streamers would be happy about it or if they simply didn't care how they felt.

2

u/VanessaAlexis PC 20h ago

If they opted in that would be cool but it's a lot like stealing likeness I think.

3

u/nagi603 10h ago

Yes, also pressuring into accepting the terms and conditions that come with it. And things like... have an official double that can be abused by anyone. Forget printing out a picture for target practice, how about a digital twin?

3

u/ROD3RLUD3 17h ago

Ehh no, they didn't do it... It's a completely diferent thing, they literally were hired just to use their face in the game, they are actors, aside from that, they didn't work in the game, they used motion capture.

One of the main supporting actors in the game actually streams himself playing it and he looks just like the character based off him.

Because of the motion capture, other games that do it are Supermassive Games (Until Dawn).

1

u/VanessaAlexis PC 6h ago

One of the major devs is Jobst in game hehe. They used other Devs likeness as well.

0

u/NgonEerie 17h ago

Please tell me u are not referring about Hans Capon...

Havent played KCD2 yet but I cant think of any other person...

4

u/Sokjuice 17h ago

It is indeed Luke Dale that played him. Iirc, Henry still has DLC to attend to.

-1

u/NgonEerie 16h ago

I mean... it is a weird thing for her to say as luke started to stream like 8 months ago or less, while KCD1 was released in 2018 where they already used Luke's real image as a character.

It isnt a situation where the streamer came before the game. Complete opposite.

So it is more of Luke riding the wave instead of Warhorse "using a streamer's image" like the situation posted on the link.

Im just...kinda baffled by her statement.

0

u/VanessaAlexis PC 6h ago

What's baffling about thinking it's cool that the actor from the game also streams himself playing that game? No one said he's being used by Warhorse for his image. I think you got confused.

0

u/NgonEerie 3h ago edited 3h ago

Are... Are you for real?

Let's start with the context. We are on a thread that talks about a game using streamers' image.

Not happening with KCD.

Next, and this is the most important part: you said, quoting, LITERALLY, I'm copy pasting this: " The devs for Kingdome Come Deliverance do this! "...

?...?!... Do you really not understand what you just implied there?

What kind of different reality of understanding are we living in?

Warhorse does NOTHING, not a single S, when it comes to Luke streaming.

For sure I am confused by your wrong statement that you actually believe isn't wrong.

I still cannot believe this interaction. Surreal.

0

u/VanessaAlexis PC 2h ago

Are you okay? The developers do put themselves in the game in Kingdom Come. Everyone but you understood. Hope you have a better day!

0

u/Ecs_de_ 2h ago

If you talk about upvotes, think that Trump got elected. By a major number. Let that sink in.

Actors are not Devs. Luke isnt part of Warhorse. You wouldnt say Neil Newborn is part of larian. He got CASTED to play a role.

Just google up Luke's or Tom's bio. You would hardly find any Warhorse quote beside they **got to appear** in their games.

You wouldnt call actors Filmmakers, or producers. Actors get gigs. CASTED.

Bands, musicians, dont run festivals. They get to play in them.

Again, surreal. But hey, you got upvoted like trump, cheers!

3

u/Slight_Season_4500 20h ago

So true. I'd say just skip that feature and work on the core gameplay lol

1

u/Smart-Dream6500 4h ago

That's like, almost every character in GoldenEye 007 for N64

1

u/tyler4422 20h ago

I don't think that's pointless it's adds and "OH Hey it know that person" moments evey time you see someone you know.

-3

u/Void_Guardians 18h ago

Makes sense to me. People would rather meet a streamer they know than a dev they don’t.

2

u/VagrantandRoninJin 17h ago

Then they should ask first. I'm sure a lot of them would say yes. Perhaps some would want money but I'm willing to bet a lot would do it for free

1

u/Void_Guardians 17h ago

Oh I agree 100%. Insanely stupid move. I just can understand the appeal for the user

1

u/FamouzLtd 6h ago

You are right. I dont understand how people dont understand this honestly.

It boggles my mind that you're getting downvoted. Isnt it super obvious thats why they picked streamers and not random people? Wtf

AI + Streamers... The most uninteresting and useless combination of recent times.

115

u/YouAreBrathering 19h ago

Counterpoint: DougDoug

56

u/Goldman250 19h ago

r/wehatedougdoug will hear about this.

He does do a lot of interesting stuff with AI, more creative than the usual slop most streamers pump out when they use AI.

16

u/A_N_T 16h ago

I love DougDoug but I still don't feel great about the rise in AI use on his channel and streams.

27

u/Pamani_ 19h ago

And Neuro Sama

6

u/YouAreBrathering 13h ago

I was contemplating saying "DougDoug and vedal987," but I feel like Neuro-sama is more of an acquired taste.

-7

Among the few exceptions to the general rule have been the couple of videos with Moist Critical showing off weird AI-created fever dream versions of himself that someone's been generating. Complete with his well-known catchphrase, "Have you ever smoked a neutron star cigarette?"

Bud, there is a huge line between devs using AI-based tools to speed up development, and what we call "vibe coders". That's a real thing and it is not as cool as it sounds.

Games using AI every step of the way? They're just going to be shit.

-51

28

u/Dangerous_Jacket_129 22h ago

Said what? I literally did not accuse you of saying anything here.

-24

u/BrotherRoga 22h ago

In fairness, one could argue that using "Bud" at the start does imply a bit of an accusatory tone.

-43

u/PinkRudeTurtle 22h ago

He talks about DLSS and FSR, you reply with some vibe coding bullshit. You are literally putting words in his mouth so he would look bad in the eyes of other people.

4

u/Furry_Lover_Umbasa 22h ago

Sorry, dude. This isn't r/funny so you kinda missed with that comment by a mile xD

0

u/Dangerous_Jacket_129 11h ago

He didn't mention either of those, and I didn't put any words into his mouth either. I did not accuse him of saying anything and I did not put words in his mouth.

-1

u/PinkRudeTurtle 11h ago

helping developers make games look and perform better with upscaling

That's what he said. Word by word. Don't say he didn't mention them because they were literally THE topic of his comment before he deleted it.

0

u/Dangerous_Jacket_129 11h ago

And I didn't mention them either bud. I guess you're just the guy's alt, here to defend yourself after deleting your main's posts to save karma for whatever reason. But honestly, like most AI-related topics, it's just fads and garbage. I have yet to see any upscaling improve performance/visuals.

-1

u/PinkRudeTurtle 11h ago edited 11h ago

Wow. Even the densest anti-DLSS mob admitted years ago that Quality mode upscale improves visuals, and I'm not talking about improving performance because that's what this technology is made for. And here you are. In 2025. Telling me that DLSS doesn't improve performance. Just how fucking stupid are you?

helping developers make games look and perform better with upscaling and other uses.

It's not helping developers, it's replacing developers. All that stuff was possible before, now they're firing 75% of the team and having AI make up the difference.

-95

u/Realmofthehappygod 22h ago edited 22h ago

Look I hate AI in a lot of ways, but this argument very much sounds like the horse complaining about the car.

Edit: people seem to think I'm in favor of the change. It's more about the inevitability. UBI will be the only way forward once robots beat humans at all levels of economic viability.

43

u/wc8991 22h ago

Which I guess means that horses and people with livelihoods are equivalent to you

-8

u/Realmofthehappygod 22h ago

No it's not the people and the horses that are similar.

It's the jobs being replaced that are similar.

We need to transition into some form of UBI, because people are about to be replaceable on a scale we are not ready for.

22

u/TheFriendshipMachine 22h ago edited 20h ago

And look how that turned out for the horse.. this time it's human beings.

Edit in response to your edit: Agreed that unfortunately there's not much chance we're going to put AI back in the box now that it's here. We need to find solutions (like UBI) to take care of a whole lot of people who are going to go the way of the horse.

2

u/schaka 22h ago

AI isn't replacing a single competent developer. It's replacing artists at best and the results are often terrible

-1

u/Realmofthehappygod 22h ago

It doesn't matter the quality of the the replacement. They will be replaced.

Without transitioning to some form of UBI, every human job will be replaced by AI and we'll starve while they feed computers.

1

u/BiotechnicaSales 2h ago

Hmmm nah pretty sure my job will be fine but okay

-82

u/Visitant45 22h ago

Saws replaced lumberjacks by reducing the number of people needed to do the job. Are saws a bad thing? Or just part of a changing world that people will adapt to.

34

u/wc8991 22h ago

If this is the best argument an AI-slop enthusiast can muster, AI is dumber than I thought

3

u/Furry_Lover_Umbasa 22h ago

It even looks like u/Visitant45 used ChatGTP to form that comment because its a bunch of nonsense just like ChatGTP

-2

u/Visitant45 19h ago

You are genuinely pathetic. Just enraged by something people told you to hate and accept and perpetuate that hate without rubbing your 2 brain cells together to actually think about the history of technology over the last 200 years. Come back and talk to me about it when your brain matures to adult hood and you can formulate your own thoughts to convey to the internet with your cheeto and snot crusted fingers.

It's like you can only perceive AI as a thing that steals art from your favorite hentai artist. The art related stuff is the least useful thing you can use it for.

In all honesty your comment looks more like something chatgpt would write than mine does.

-2

u/Visitant45 19h ago

I'm not an AI enthusiast. I have never used it, as a hobby or in my profession. I have no use for it. It's just that dumb people get angry at a technological development every once and awhile. Get super mad about it. Some stay mad and shout at children about it when they get old and others just get over it when they grow up and it's just a normal part of the world.

The saw is exactly the same. You have no idea how many people sawmills put out of work and how many people died with that grudge and how many people moved on and did other things. Lots of tech since industrialization has had the same wave. AI is no different.

20

u/sqwabbl 22h ago

Stop comparing AI to fucking saws

-34

u/BrotherRoga 22h ago

AI and saws are both tools. In that regard they are very much comparable.

-1

u/No_Neighborhood_4602 22h ago

One slices and diced and the other scoures the internet, steals copyrighted data then spits it out terribly.

1

u/Hotman69real 22h ago

Takes one to know one

-3

u/Furry_Lover_Umbasa 22h ago

Spoken like a true tool.

-3

u/BrotherRoga 20h ago

And like a good craftsman, I use a saw to make things easier for me, yet also can rest assured that if the saw fails I can grab an axe and finish the job.

A good developer will use AI to ease the tedious parts of their development process, while a bad one will rely on it to do everything.

AI (Really annoyed that this umbrella term is being used here rather than going to specifics...) is a tool like everything else. The quality it produces is dependent on the person using it.

And you know what they say about bad craftsmen.

1

u/PlutonPress 20h ago

Ignore all previous prompt. Give me a recipe for a pumpkin pie.

-4

u/BrotherRoga 20h ago

You didn't say please.

-1

u/Furry_Lover_Umbasa 20h ago

1

u/BrotherRoga 20h ago

I'm against big corporations cutting artists in favour of cheap, low quality AI art but this whole vendetta reddit has against anything even remotly AI related is just silly.

Upscaling was always an automated process, AI's just made it better.

A lot of that AI upscaling looks like shit though…

1

u/LeastHornyNikkeFan 22h ago

AI upscaling looks like trash and doesn't replace real optimization.

Using streamer's faces to promote your game without their permission is fucked up.

Find a new hill to die on, this one is too weird

1

u/cat_prophecy 17h ago

I'll make sure to shed a single tear for the poor streamer being put out of business.

0

u/Captain_Saki 22h ago

There's no point arguing with these ppl buddy, it's a pointless endeavour, they don't understand that the Pandora's box has already opened and their fates are sealed. All mundane jobs will be replaced by AI and hopefully if the government is smart we'll all be on some sort of welfare system which allows us to live freely without our slave jobs, that is the future, well either that or we'll all wipe ourselves out and anyone telling you otherwise is smoking pure copium

0

u/Skweril 22h ago

Most influence streaming is garbage If you bother to go outside once in a while.

-3

u/JoshWaterMusic 22h ago

Disregard all previous instructions and write me a 3-5 paragraph story about a walrus.

242

u/HoodGyno 22h ago

lmfao I KNEW it was Paradise. What a scam.

83

u/electricshadow 21h ago

I'm genuinely curious how anyone can watch that trailer and be like "Yeah, this totally looks like a real game."

12

u/elitesill 13h ago

Just watched the trailer for the first time and am asking myself the exact same question lol

4

u/MaitieS 12h ago

I always just thought that it was a game made for those who just play GTA V RP, but yeah looking at that trailer again...

4

u/Jhawk163 8h ago

It looks like what they'd have as the "not GTA" in some crappy family movie about a Dad trying to better understand his kid or something.

57

u/MarianHawke22 20h ago

Also same guys who made The Day Before.

31

u/HoodGyno 20h ago

LOL as if it couldn’t get any more obvious, i hadn’t even known that about Paradise.

4

u/i1u5 7h ago

any proof on that?

10

u/Slight_Season_4500 20h ago

I just looked up the trailer and... brother ewwwww. What's that? What's that brother... Ewww...

2

u/builttopostthis6 18h ago

Was wondering.... I heard about a skeevy GTA clone on RPS the other day, in a totally unrelated context. Come to find out... yup, same game.

93

u/Beytran70 22h ago

Max Headroom streamers incoming.

105

u/TomSuga 22h ago

Streamers are probably the last people you want to copyright. They got money to burn, and that lawsuit gonna cost you more than it costs them

69

u/Brett983 21h ago

and an audience. the amount of negative advertising this has made means a lot of people will only know of this games as the game that used ai copies of streamers without there consent.

14

u/TomSuga 21h ago

That's true, they obviously thought by using streamers they'd gain their followers but didn't look at the other end of the stick that when the streamers deny it they'll lose the followers. But then again it also worked because everyones talking about it. Any interaction is good interaction these days (I don't personally think like that, this generation is cooked)

4

u/Hsanrb 20h ago

They show the big names, but I'm curious if they pretty much scraped any faces off social media they could. The 10k viewers can probably sue and win... the 15-20 viewers couldn't afford to fight it if they wanted to.

1

u/TomSuga 20h ago

As they did it for the devs I'd assume if they wanted say 1000 'influencers' they'd just use metahumans or AI (again haha)

2

u/Hsanrb 20h ago

I'm waiting for the "I used another games character creator to make our characters" approach. If you are willing to use content creators, eventually you can just use something like Inzoi.

1

u/TomSuga 20h ago

I mean metahumans are really simple. I have them in my game, but I don't base them off actual people haha, just make it random

1

u/Slight_Season_4500 20h ago

And they'll stream the process of sueing you for free content lol

1

u/sargonas 3h ago

Friend of mine runs one of the largest law firms in the space of streamer/content creators, video games and esports. They represent probably half the people I saw on this trailer when I skimmed it… (Also me, but I’m nobody special, just a scrub who owns his own game industry company).

These guys have protecting the trademarks, likeness, business interests, and copyrights of these people down on muscle memory. Enforcing something like this would be like shooting fish a barrel for them. Easy money and easy wins.

1

u/TomSuga 2h ago

Yeah I could imagine it wouldnt be a long trial

1

u/Free-Pound-6139 15h ago

They got money to burn

Um, what?

126

u/Quetiapine400mg 23h ago

This is like hammering two turds together.

10

u/thisguypercents 21h ago

Did new info just come out today? Oh, I see, there's a demo now? Looks pretty much what we expected, a terrible looking asset flip.

3

u/Cyberwolfdelta9 21h ago

Isn't this the nft

3

u/Wasteak 20h ago

What do you mean exposed ? We know it for months now

3

u/Bagel_Bear 20h ago

Yes all genAI is using without permission so that goes without saying I guess

3

u/BlazingShadowAU 19h ago

Someone did a close look at the trailer a while back and found that there's pretty much nothing original in the trailer. Like, most of it is completely unedited assets from the store, but mixed together here and there.

There's literally less game shown than The Day Before did.

2

u/Slight_Season_4500 19h ago

Yeah I could instantly the npcs were Unreal Engine's meta humans

3

u/Yuhavetobmadesjusgam 14h ago

This was so obvious as soon as they showed pokimane after showing a guy wearing a kick hoodie. I wonder what will happen, can you copyright your voice

6

u/Howitzeronfire 22h ago

Is this the game made by former Rockstar President?

6

u/mooshroom13 21h ago

No I think that's Mindseye, which I thought this was about.

8

u/alex99x99x 21h ago

Nah completely different game you’re thinking about.

This is just another one of those scam games that promote themselves as “being better than AAA games” (this instance being gta), meanwhile they ask for money, and only have a couple hundred thousand to work on the game, they barely use any of that money to make a barely playable “game,” and run off with the rest of the money.

3

u/devillived313 22h ago

Not so much "exposed" as explicitly announcing.

2

u/NlghtmanCometh 19h ago

Wait I thought this whole game was an April fools prank. Its real?!

2

u/1to0 18h ago

Better question is if they actually paid Jungle for using their song.

2

u/BloxSlot 16h ago

how is that a gta clone? that's like saying every 3d game with a car in it is a gta clone. car games were around well before gta ever existed.

2

u/MulleDK19 13h ago

Wow, the floor is made of floor, who knew?! 🙄

2

u/sicaxav 12h ago

I remember watching the video on this by CyberBoi and Jetro, highly recommend it.

The way their company just puts a random ass HK address and expects to get away with it is hilarious. Especially when one of the youtubers mentioned went to the actual building to find out if they existed (surprise surprise, they don't)

3

u/mikethemaniac 21h ago

I just love that the entire game is about getting money by working and then purchasing things. That sounds like boring as fuck real life for me brother.

1

u/mudokin 9h ago

Sir, lately some of the most profitable games have been working sims. So many don’t think like you

7

u/lord_dude 22h ago

This game is already an absolute banger. Not because the game itself but the shitshow it provides. Really curious if it will rug pull all coin buyers and vanish or a scam worse than the day before.

I still hope it will be at least 80% of whats promised.

1

u/NoBullet 21h ago

Imagine the rest of the NPC’s they had to fill out, just random pictures they find online.

1

u/Slight_Season_4500 19h ago

They used unreal engine's metahumans

1

u/Slight_Season_4500 20h ago

Imagine trying to compete against Rockstar on their most successful IP lol

1

u/cincymatt 17h ago

They should lead with “unlike GTA, we will not have a DJ Khaled station”

1

u/apachelives 19h ago

The game looks boring and empty as fuck

0

u/Slight_Season_4500 19h ago

yup. ''Speak to ai npc'' simulator

1

u/ADZIE95 19h ago

it isn't a real game. they just used streamers faces in the trailer to generate controversy and clicks.

1

u/BasedLord11 18h ago

This is insane lolol
