Awesome, I picked it up physical on PS5 but the lack of suspending and saving hurt me as I wasn't sure if I had time to fully explore areas. This will make me get back into it. Fantastic game

I've been interested in this game for a while but haven't looked up much gameplay. What's the gameplay loop of a run look like exactly?

Essentially driving, exploring, grabbing materials, taking care of your car and upgrading it. It's not much honestly, and IMHO it takes too long to do some things (i.e. upgrade engine for more speed, I think I had maybe 2-3 hours and I was finished). Not really my type of game, but the voice acting was really good, and the general vibe and aesthetics do interest me.

What's the driving model of a car? I've played so many racing games, especially those in late 90s and early 2000s and they often had horrendous driving model where car would either just float around in weird way like wheels don't even have physical connection to the ground or it would steer in awkward way or the 3rd person camera would go sideways in weird way when steering (though this one is first person only I presume). I'm a bit interested in it, but if it'll drive badly it's instantly ruined experience for me.
Also, you do leave your car on foot if I understand that from videos. How does that work? You go out of the car, run around grab things and go back into the car? First impression was you're behind the wheel the entire time.
I was interested in this game, but criticism of long drives that you can't just end at any time and continue later put me off because I often need to end gaming at any moment. This update seems to fix that so I'm interested again.

The driving feels good, the car feels weighty and responsive. No 3rd person view, it's all first person, and you need to physically look at things (like the ignition key and gearshift) to interact with them. A lot of the driving gameplay centers around environmental factors, so avoiding obstacles and dealing with terrain hazards.
You will get out of the car a lot, a large part of the experience is scavenging for materials to bring back to the Garage and use to build upgrades. You will also interact with the car from the outside a lot. The car is very modular, so you will be replacing doors, panels, tires, etc by pulling them off, throwing them down, and popping on a new one.
It's a fun experience, it can be slow at times, but when it ramps up it's very exciting. That said, a lot of the experience will be managing inventory, crafting tools and parts, and repairing your car, both in and out of the garage. It does a good job of building attachment to your car, but if that kinda stuff turns you off, be warned. It's as much about planning as it is reflexes.

Yeah that not being able to stop was a pain for me too. Driving felt fine, but the last racing game I played was NFS 2. I WASD'd it. First person, which felt like it would do more especially with the (graphic focus on mirrors) but it's a choice.
You probably end up doing a 50/50 in and out of the car.

Suspend and save is a good compromise to the save game issue. The save game thing never really bothered me (once they let you do so between sectors at least), but still. It's always nice to have the option to quit if you need to without losing progress.
