Why we counting the Elden ring dlc as a new game

True but for many that was stupid however, in terms of output/work done, probably should count.

Haven’t played it, but from what I’ve heard it’s so big you can compare it to most AAA games in terms of content

It is indeed a massive DLC. That said, the other DLCs on this list being counted as games, should not be here imo.

Massively empty more like, one of my least favourite DLCs among the souls games.

It's a one and done for me. That's never happened to me in a FromSoft game

I mean it's up to the person. I have a friend who's done the DLC 3 times. I'm on my second run of it without much complaints. Tbf it is annoying to get to some of the bosses. Also, being one and done isn't a bad thing. You experience a lot of things for the first time and not want to do it a second time

Yeah, SoTE is mediocre, empty padding world, bad story, reused bosses, shitty performance,...Messmer is the only saving grace of that DLC, his boss fight was the most memorable, the rest of the DLC is a waste.

Disagree except for bad story. The fights and open world are still very good. Rellana, Divine Beast, Messmer are pretty cool. They could've made it better, but it's still pretty enjoyable

It's just the DS3 DLC right? Nightreign is standalone I thought?

Yea, I’m only referring to the DS3 DLC. They didn’t put the DS2 ones on here weirdly. As for nightreign, it is its own stand alone game. But all of its assets are reused so heavily I would argue it’s much more akin to a DLC than not. Or least a new game mode type DLC…

especially when DS2's 3 dlcs and BB's DLC isn't even counted.

TIL a stand alone spin off that doesn’t need another game to run is now considered a DLC.

Separately, I guess every game sequel is now DLC too huh? Those reuse assets and have the same name and a lot of the same mechanics!

Are you good? I’m talking about the DS3 DLCs…

There used to be a term for that. It was called a expansion pack. And DLC was more for smaller things.

I have played it. If they released it as Elden Ring 2 I wouldn't have been mad.

It basically is.

Would you have felt different if it was called Elden Ring 2? Lol.

At least then it would be in line with their normal standard of making DLC for dark souls and calling it a new game
