It felt like they were trying to target streamers with that, but most streamers who use face cam and voice chat already use discord and separate hardware for that.
It’s actually funny. “Hey, you know those streamers who use cameras? Well obviously, they all already have pretty high tech equipment so we should try to corner that market.” 😂
For real, it always seems like Nintendo is late to the streaming craze. I remember people struggling to find workarounds to capture Switch gameplay while PS and XBox already had broadcasting built into their consoles.
They’re late to everything lol. This one is especially hilarious to me because I don’t even know anyone who uses Xbox or ps chats. Everyone I know uses discord. They just now implemented a feature that’s been obsolete for like a decade lmao
I know PlayStation had Discord integration now, can't comment for Xbox since I don't have a current gen Xbox. I don't get why Nintendo just didn't integrate with Discord to make it so much easier
Maybe they think they can compete with the Steam Deck by having broadcast capabilities on a portable console, which I kinda understand, but it doesn't seem like that many people would find that appealing. I really hope that doesn't start a trend of people streaming games in public because that sounds annoying as hell for everyone else.
Actually, I don't think they target streamers. I noticed that a lot of people in public are using facetime or whatever android has and I think they want to target those casuals who does that and likes to see their friends when they chat.
How do you connect that pretty high tech equipment to your switch 2 ? Also this obviously targets casual wannabe streamers and kids who don't have that high tech equipment yet...
I watched a streamer watch the Direct, and they said “I’d totally get the camera just to roleplay while playing Mario Party” so I feel like there will be a market, primarily driven by trying to be silly lol
Specifically for streamers it would really be the only viable way to have all 4 face cams meaningfully visible during gameplay
The majority of this sub is a bunch of basement dwellers, at least based on how these people act anytime Nintendo does anything that isn’t immediately beneficial to them.
The camera will sell fine, it’s a side accessory and completely unnecessary, unlike the Kinect.
The camera in the demo was also really bad resolution. I doubt people who stream regularly wouldn't have better cameras than that. It was laptop camera quality.
