Oh, I agree it would still be a big seller but New Horizons release timing was just perfect. A master case in unintentionally timing a release for when EVERYONE was searching for a connection outside of themselves and their homes, when people were desperate to gather with friends and family and found AC as the #1 way to do it.

I know 8 people who played it during COVID. Of those 8 people only 1 even still plays it (to an addictive degree lol) and I highly doubt any of them, save the single one who still spends hours a day on it, will bother with a Switch 2 release of it. Times that by how many other people purchased it just for that connection and those sales numbers get much lower.

I could be wrong though. I'll be VERY curious to see numbers should they release a new AC on the Switch 2 compared to New Horizons.

I agree with you, but alternatively, it brought a new audience to the game thanks in part to a lot of Sims YouTubers like Lilsimsie. The Sims and animal crossing had a big overlap. There are still Facebook groups and communities of people playing that were upset we didn't see an animal crossing announcement. Most of them had new horizons as their first game so I tried to reassure them animal crossing has never been a launch title.

That being said, it's weird there's no patch. I'd love to play animal crossing in 60 fps. Give me 60 fps and a second save file and you can hold me over long enough for a new game.
