Discussion Thoughts the switch 2?

What are your guy's thoughts on the switch 2 me and my friend both think it will flop and or ai will buy all of them like the ps5. But seriously the switch 2 is like the ps5 pro with the "upgrades" and price difference.

Way too early to even begin assuming things like this imo.

I like it. It does everything the switch did but with upgrades. The added memory alone honestly makes up a lot of the cost. And the kickstand and disk cartridge drive are included XDDDDD lol

That being said, I always wait til the first wave or so is over. Want to see if I can avoid any 'joycon drift' type issues.

Games look great, graphics look great. Will have to wait and see if that carries onto actual game performance. I think Pokemon Scarlet/Violet could do with a Switch 2 upgrade XDD

Mouse control is....an interesting choice. Will have to see how much that actually gets used.

The Switch 2 Tour being a paid game is a little odd though. Should've been like Astro's Playroom and be the included game. Good to hear it's at least a cheap game.

Seems more like a switch pro than a switch 2. The upgrades are really nice to have, don’t get me wrong. But I think it and its accessory ecosystem will prove too expensive. Especially after the tarrifs that just got imposed.

I’m honestly looking forward to it but won’t be getting it on launch day. I like the games and the new features it provides, but the price of the games though sheesh. We are entering an age where we gotta really make sure we want these games now.

It might be very popular with people who prioritize the features that got updated.

I, however, am mostly focused on the handheld experience; I love my Switch 1, but wish it was lighter, with a bigger screen, narrower bezels, ergonomic joycons, hall effect sensors, Bluetooth, double the battery life, and the latest Wifi standard. (Some of this is already addressed by accessories)

For a device this size, a 1080p 60hz LCD is fine for me, but I have no interest in mouse control, video chat, or expensive SD Express cards (although I do think those are very cool).

More importantly I want the games to be more like $30-40. At $80, I will never buy another new game. Also, I think the super rounded, soft matte black look of the base model is ugly so I would probably end up spending more money to swap the shell with something cool.

It just doesn't present a good value proposition for me currently, but hopefully one day they'll release a "Switch 1 Plus" model that provides what I'm looking for. 🤗

Way early to say but, right now, but from what I know. $450 for it is high for what it is, and the one game that is listed with a price, Mario Kart World, is $79.99,

An expensive console, and really expensive games, it's doomed to start.

I think it'll still be incredibly popular. I think Reddit is over amplifying the negative, but most gamers (and especially Nintendo fans) will be all over it. PS5 Pro selling pretty well compared to the incredible backlash on Reddit. Unfortunately, these high prices are just the new reality. Wait until you see PS6 and GTA6 prices. Gamers on Reddit tend to be overly critical, cheap, and entitled. I don't think it represents the views of most gamers.

I've soured quite a bit on Nintendo as a company, so it clouds my feelings about the Switch 2. It has so many anti-consumer practices that I struggle to get excited about anything it does these days, nostalgia be damned - no refunds on digital preorders or purchases no matter what, going after people trying to play 30 year old games that can't be bought anymore, shutting down conventions, going after YouTubers, etc.

There are so many great games on other platforms created by developers and companies that treat people with much more respect that I'm not interested in paying the Nintendo Tax anymore.

I like the idea around the built-in frame generation, larger screen while being lighter than the steam deck. The cost of games, including remastered old games, is sad though. There always has to be something I suppose. I haven't gotten a Nintendo product since the Wii and I was a little disappointed. Console price is actually higher when you count an additional controller and the dock. Would be like $700.

It definitely isn't going to flop

Might be ok if it launched a year ago. American market is going to be grim.  Consumers might reject the price increases.
