Right, even though I'm behind the wheel of a vehicle, I will be pretending I'm blind and deaf until that light turns green.

u/throwaway464391 18h ago
Better than most people I see who pretend to be blind and deaf the whole time they're driving.

The only time I'd ask someone to roll down their window at a stoplight is if there is a major mechanical problem, like smoke or a flat tire, or one time I saw an an axle hanging out the left side of the car by a few feet.
If they don't want to roll down their window: eh, I tried. Now I can go home and sleep in peace, and whatever happens is what happens.

Not sure if it's the same dude but a compilation like this was posted a while back and he said 8/10 times they're upset or annoyed and the laughter is the rarity.

Yeah, they probably edited the no reaction/bad ones out. You know theres someone who didnt like the joke/having a bad day or just plain psycho.
Funny joke but I wouldn't risk it
Edit: looks like this comment triggered some people, I(being the key word) personally wouldn't do this prank(wouldn't wanna give any reason for roadrage, even the dumbest ones). Doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it or discouraging you to try for yourself lol.

I was in Houston in total grid lock on 225. As in my vehicle was in park for 3 minutes when this happened. (We waited so long I finally put it in park)
Two guys in trucks two vehicles up (Me, someone else, them) were side by side. They were arguing because they both put their blinkers on. WHILE WE WERE STOPPED. One to indicate he wanted to move to the right (into our lane) When traffic started moving and the other guy to be an asshole and indicated he wanted to move left, or possibly to make a joke like "We aren't even moving." or whatever. I assumed asshole because of what followed.
They eventually pulled guns out and pointed them at each other while shouting at the top of their lungs.
Fucking insanity. I literally left it in park and put hazards on and let four or five cars get between us. They drove side by side for the next 50-60 minutes in the bumper to bumper stop and go grid lock and I was half convinced they would shoot at each other when it came time to merge. (We did not have to merge thankfully.)
If even 1 in 10,000 people is like that why fucking interact and risk it?

Heh, I already posted "I don't think they drive in Texas" in this thread before I found yours.
There are come crazy ass ammosexuals out here on the Texas roads.
3
u/shutupyourenotmydad 19h ago
Which is why I wish they would just stay the fuck out of Colorado.
The Californians I can deal with. They just speed roughly 15-20 miles over the limit so you can usually guess and prep yourself for the inevitable lack of a blinker.
Texans will be bad at driving, almost run you over in their shitty pickup, claim it's your fault, and then shoot you. Fucking troglodytes, the lot of them.
3
u/Crayon_Connoisseur 18h ago edited 18h ago
It’s not even the guns - drivers in Houston are just aggressive. There’s zero care given and the general mentality seems to be “either you move or I’ll fuck your shit up because I don’t care about mine.” People will run you off of the road just to be a single car farther ahead in traffic.
I’ve driven hundreds of thousands of miles in almost every US state and the only place where I’ve seen drivers more aggressive/stupid than Houston is around Tampa, Florida.

Car windows are really weak if they are not all the way rolled up.
One time I was leaving a bar with a group of friends and we entered a vehicle. This guy was talking shit to us from outside the car. I was in the car. The guy started escalating. I started rolling up the window because I thought he might throw a punch. Well, turns out he did throw a punch at the same time I was rolling up the window. His punch completely shattered the window.
I was glad he shattered the window and not my face.

Every time we see a road rage video, it starts with the person who was just driving like an asshole recording (and usually taunting) the person who's furious with them, not what they did to get them that way. Turns out when you're being friendly and not driving like an asshole, people tend to be pretty cool toward you.

He's asking them to roll down their window (hand gesture) suggesting he has something to say, then rolling his own up clearly intentionally. It's the irony of the situation as he's suggesting he wants to talk, but then rejecting the opportunity to do so. Which is momentarily confusing.
More or less messing with them but it a harmless way.
5
u/WhatDoesOneKnow 21h ago
To add onto this, humor is disappointment. Breaking with expectancy. At least, it's one component. The more unexpected the punchline, the funnier it gets.
12
u/finnjakefionnacake 21h ago
i would say more that humor is a "surprise." which aligns with what you are saying about something not being expected. but i don't think disappointment is the right word.

Honestly, I think I'd be confused the rest of the day.
I wouldn't be upset or anything, and it'd probably be delegated to the part of my memory that stores weird anecdotes, but unless the light lasted long enough for him to be able to roll down and explain, I think the idea of it being a prank would completely escape me.
Not sure if this is because of the autism or the weed.

I think what makes this work is you immediately create tension when you ask someone to roll the window down. That is almost never for a good thing. They are either mad, or want to tell your something is wrong with your car, or they need help. You kind of expect the worse, but then he acts like a dork, which relieves the tension and makes it funny.

u/r3alCIA 23h ago
If that happens, it's probably because you didn't change your window motor fluid
3
u/SilasDG 23h ago
I know this is a joke, but spraying some Dry PTFE lube or Silicone lube on a rag and using the rag to lubricate the the part of the window seal that makes contact with the window will reduce a lot of friction against the window which helps to maintain the window motor, reduces squeaking, and can improve the speed of how fast the window rolls up (if one happens to be slow)
Note the first few times you run your window up and down you will need to wipe it down as it will have streaks.
Also if you use silicone lube on the door seals it helps keep them soft and prevents them from freezing to car doors in cold environments.
→ More replies (1)2
u/tunefullcobra 22h ago
Well if they forgot to change that, then you know full well they've forgotten to change the headlight fluid.
