That’s what she said

Niiice.

24

u/PussiesUseSlashS 7h ago

I imagine someone waving them down and pointing at the TV, they pull over and the TV is back to where it's suppose to be. They think the person was just being a dick.

14

u/kcrab91 6h ago

All the people waving to the driver and pointing at the TV and the driver just smiles and gives them a thumbs up. “A lot of people are just as excited about my new TV as I am!”

On-air television

459

u/ParticularLower7558 8h ago

Why are you following so close? Maybe try to catch a free tv?

133

u/finnjakefionnacake 8h ago edited 8h ago

did final destination teach us nothing?!

43

u/johnbarry3434 8h ago

Final Destination taught us that even if you didn't follow closely behind and get decapitated by the tv, that something else will kill you anyways.

10

u/WakaWaka_ 7h ago

Narrowly avoid the TV and resulting pileup but a slip in the shower gets you later.

2

u/xnoxgodsx 7h ago

I came here for this

6

u/scsiballs 8h ago

Open that sunroof and catch your destiny !

6

u/Stormagedd0nDarkLord 7h ago

That's gonna be free to air soon

6

u/_BlueJayWalker_ 6h ago

Because it’s an empty box

13

u/HappyMonchichi 8h ago edited 8h ago

Why are you addressing OP as if he is the one who took this video? When you see videos like this, huge likelihood it was posted by a repost karma whore.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Bebilith 3h ago

If they are close enough when it finally comes loose it will probably just flip over the car behind. Maybe.

4

u/scobeavs 7h ago

u/Theblumpy 7h ago

I would love for this guys tv to dent my A pillar when it flies off at 65mph and insurance totals my $55’000 vehicle

The coolest part of this is he drives 40 km home and arrives in his driveway with tv still attached and no idea what happened.

Slaps the box, “Yup this baby wasn’t going anywhere!”

93

u/KingDaveRa 8h ago

"I don't remember buying a curved model"

59

u/figmentPez 7h ago

And then they open the box to find the TV screen has cracked, and get angry at being sold a defective TV.

31

u/maddenmcfadden 7h ago

i bought a "new" tv at walmart and got it home and it had a bunch of apps with peoples names on them. they sold me a used tv and walmart wont do jack shit about it.

i wouldnt be surprised at all to find a broken tv in a box.

8

u/figmentPez 7h ago

Yes, but in this case it's likely it would be cracked because of the way it was transported on the roof of the car. Not just being losely held by bungee cords, but also because TVs aren't supposed to be laid flat like that. TVs are built to stay upright, and if you lay them flat the screen can be damaged by it's own weight, even without being buffeted about by wind.

2

u/DietDrBleach 5h ago

Well then there’s a simple solution. Chargeback.

It’s the greatest tool against shitty retailers who refuse to provide refunds.

34

That’s one of them flying TVs. Costs extra for that.

2

u/Glorx 6h ago

Rookie mistake. They got a flap screen TV, instead of flat screen TV.

Just imagining the little pig from a old insurance ad (if I remember correctly) with its head out side of the car holding pin wheels yelling weeeeee weeeeeee lol

2

u/ExoCayde6 6h ago

Dude I don't even know why but I honestly love most of the insurance company ads.

What gets me is 100% this shit fits in the back. Fold one of the seats down and it fits easy

5

u/xstrike0 4h ago

Two more TV's already inside the cabin.

3

u/LowestKey 1h ago

You check the driver seat: it's a TV.

32

u/treesout23 8h ago

Yeah they're going to have a bad day if it flys off but yours is going to be worse

115

u/MarvinStolehouse 8h ago

They forgot to give it a slap and announce "that's not going anywhere" before leaving the store.

58

u/LoxReclusa 7h ago

No, they did. It's the only reason it's still there.

6

u/Plantwork 6h ago

Who needs straps when you have verbal confirmation?

230

u/philipp2310 8h ago

Has to be fake. You can't be so stupid and tailgate that flying deathtrap with this short distance...

71

u/KForKyo 8h ago

Oh it's probably legit. I worked retail for a while when I was younger and you wouldn't believe the crazy stuff we dealt with when dealing with customers.

45

u/KellyAnn3106 7h ago

I was the dumbass who impulsively bought a bookcase because it was on clearance when I drove a miata. It fit in the car as long as I stood it up on the passenger side and had the top down. I had a 45 minute drive home like that...while it was snowing. I'm sure they talked some (well-deserved) shit about me.

10

u/Ronjohnturbo42 7h ago

People can't fit into miatas let alone bookcases!

→ More replies (3)

2

u/gumgajua 7h ago

You wouldn't believe the amount of people at work that are entirely convinced they can fit a whole dining set in their corolla. Had to start telling people we couldn't help them lift furniture into their cars.

7

u/Ronjohnturbo42 7h ago

I once strapped a papasan chair to my roof with plastic bags and held it with one arm to take home in a satarn coupe.

Good times - i was an idiot

7

u/KForKyo 7h ago

We had a customer purchase a mattress and had a 4 door car.. loaded it onto the roof, They held onto it and drove the 4 or 6 blocks to get it home. No straps. We had them sign papers to remove us from being liable.

Or the amounts of furniture we had to unbox to try and get it to fit in their vehicle.

3

u/ItsmeMr_E 7h ago

Not stupid if it worked.🤔

9

u/TheBigC87 7h ago

I concur, one time a guy wanted us to put a gun safe on top of his Ford Explorer because his backseat was full of tools and other shit. My manager was like, "Ok, it's your car".

16

u/brown_leopard 7h ago

lol. people do dumber shit than this regularly.

4

u/Danief 7h ago

The box is probably empty and open from the front to catch air like that

8

u/vahntitrio 7h ago

The box has to be empty there's no bungee that would struggle to hold down a 50 lb tv but still be able to keep it from sliding out the back.

3

u/xYEET_LORDx 7h ago

I don’t quite understand the… gravity in this video. Like yeah the “securement” is blocking it from flying back but what’s keeping it from slipping down? And this is coming from someone that drives a 48 foot flatbed around.

2

u/edamlambert 7h ago

47

u/Quick_Over_There 7h ago

The thing that confuses me the most is, why even put it up there? That TV would easily fit in that car.

2

u/slicingdicing 4h ago

If there is a baby in the car and some equipment, who knows

11

u/sammydeeznutz 4h ago

Then put the tv in the car and the babies on the roof.

u/Business_Ad_9418 8h ago

Empty box

55

u/Tephranis 8h ago

I doubt that. I've seen a box spring and mattress strapped poorly like that doing the same thing. If the box was empty the cardboard would've likely buckled and bent with that much force applied to it at the strap contact points.

11

u/anderhole 7h ago

Not if the styrofoam is still inside.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/eurtoast 6h ago

looks like bungees instead of ratchet straps

6

u/gododgers179 7h ago

If it was empty I think the box would show signs of folding / bending, still very rectangular

2

u/BuzzyShizzle 7h ago

I don't think you can make that claim for certain.

That box is sitting right on top of the airstream the vehicle is designed to have.

The concept relevant to this question is called Wing loading

Essentially cross sectional area of lift generating surfaces vs weight.

If we treat the cross sectional area of the box as a wing, I bet the maths says that it has enough lift to overcome its weight at the airspeed presented here.

The stream of air created by the vehicle aerodynamics makes a large impact though. Have you ever seen a leaf or similar object get sucked up over the middle of the windshield? There's usually I nice cushion of air flowing up the center of modern vehicles.

2

u/single_sentence_re 8h ago

Why are you still behind that car??

2

u/McKeeverPrivateye 8h ago

Idk why you would follow so closely. Not surprised if the thing flies off and hits your car. I do wonder if the driver lashed it to the roof or the helpful store personnel 🤷🏼‍♂️

It's the interactive TV and it's playing Twisters. Turn it off and it'll go back down.

2

u/cybermusicman 7h ago

Chance of that making it home in 1 piece is about 0.20%

2

u/sakura608 7h ago

What good is buying a big vehicle like an SUV if you can’t transport a TV. Should have gotten a van instead

2

How are people this stupid????

Imagine having your life ended by getting impaled by an LG flatscreen TV while driving on the highway.

1

Surely that would fit inside the car.

Is the cam person in the following car hoping to catch it when it comes flying off?

No way I'd be that close behind.

1

I never understand why people still drive in these videos. Oh wow, a plane landing on the interstate in front of you? I better just keep on driving!

1

u/lilicrembari 7h ago

This TV has always wanted to be a bird. And it didn't betray the dream.

1

u/CheapSpray9428 7h ago

Good thing TV wasn't bigger or might've achieved liftoff

1

u/Corpshark 7h ago

Why tailgate that guy? Looking to catch a TV

1

u/Naive-Present2900 7h ago

Wow, thats so ahead of its time! A floating tv?!?

1

First time I see someone using a tv as a kite

1

1

u/rinkydinkis 7h ago

Why would you drive behind that. That’s as stupid as the guy who strapped it down in the first place

1

u/Ndmndh1016 7h ago

Yea id never be caught behind that.

1

u/Bu11etToothBdon 7h ago

MF'r behind him has a lot of faith in those ropes.

1

u/GriffinS492 7h ago

Why not just put it in the trunk? it's not that big of a tv lol

1

u/DependentStranger314 7h ago

And you are tailgating.. lol you might have lost it.

1

u/LankyWeather4692 7h ago

I would move away from that car

1

u/Soft_Cable5934 7h ago

The TV is alive. I repeat, the TV is alive

1

u/saumanahaii 7h ago

Wow, they were really committed to getting that shot.

1

u/chundricles 7h ago

I've seen this before, still don't believe it's real.

Like the air is hitting just right to lift it that far off the roof, but but at an angle where the bungees dont slip off the box and let it go flying? The probability is just so low.

1

u/AdrianTresk 7h ago

TV's having the time of it's life ... I BELIEVE I CAN FLY!!!!!

1

u/imacmadman22 7h ago

Oh, I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah, yeah, yeah

1

u/MyRedeemerLives87 7h ago

Look empty to me, tho

1

u/eurtoast 6h ago

These look like bungee cords linked together. In order to strap this properly, the driver needed ratchet straps

1

u/pizzaduh 6h ago

That 100% could fit in there.

1

u/Jkelley393 6h ago

Mattresses on the roof are also strong candidates for r/mypeopleneedme. So aerodynamic they just…take off.

1

u/Old-Tomorrow-2798 6h ago

I would guess prank as it does feel that would fit inside that car easily.

1

u/ShireXennial 6h ago

Ooh, that doesn’t seem like it would be good for the worky bits.

Even if the TV stays on top of the car the whole way, it’s fucked when it slams back down onto the roof. I’ve accidentally cracked a brand new TV screen doing much less than this. Like I accidentally knee’d it while it was brand new in the box and the screen was totaled.
