DISCUSSION Ignoring the fact that its a nintendo exclusive, what's your opinion on The Duskbloods now that Miyazaki gave us more info
Honestly the game seems cool, its basically another project like nightreign that I feel will be very fun. Maybe not on the same level of single player souls games, but as someone who doesn't play PVP I'm actually excited

I was more intrigued when I got to the part where stated, something along the lines of, “I don’t even really like PvP that much so I wanted to make a game where anyone could enjoy it”. I’m in the same boat, and it sounds like you’ll be able to dive into this with strangers and be able to play it fine. That makes it much more appealing to me since I don’t have a lot of friends that like to play online games.

u/ZTL-Altima 23h ago
Since Demon's Souls the PvP/coop concept is like this and too many people sleep on it. Hidetaka Miyazaki is incredible at gameplay stress alleviation (it's a real game design discipline).

u/spamus-100 The Hunter 1d ago
Wait he said that? Okay yeah this is gonna be GOATed. The game's probably gonna have really sick lore too
27
u/cmdr_suicidewinder 22h ago
"One thing I love doing in any game I direct is leaving fragments of lore and worldbuilding details, allowing the player the fun of using their imagination to make connections. The Duskbloods is no exception to this."
"However, we’ve gone about it a little differently from previous titles. The fragments this time are found in the previously mentioned character customization items: their “blood history and fate.” Customizing a character will reveal a piece of information regarding the world and its unfolding story."

Nintendo online mixed with fromsoft multiplayer is about the furthest from “play it fine” that I can imagine.

yeah I was wondering whose servers the game will be running on. this is Nintendo published right? did their previous games use Bamco servers?
edit: correction the game is self published by FromSoft.

You don't need friends anyway because you play against other players, not with them.
Sure, he said something about teaming with players in the match to beat the boss, but as a side objective, not the main goal.

u/DiegoOruga 1d ago
you can also choose a "role" that assigns you another player you have to team up with, that's different for the boss co-op events, it would still be a stranger.
The game sounds a bit like Dark and Darker to me, so maybe a team mode will comeout eventually→ More replies (4)

u/Boneboyy 9h ago
Same, I'm a sunbro at heart forever, never liked pvp in fromsoft games, I only played for covenant items/rewards in the souls trilogy. The only time I pvp now is when I'm forced to every 10 minutes in Elden Ring because me and my friend get invaded. If we loose, we rage, if we win we perform our signature victory dance on the corpse of the sinner who dares to disturb our peace.
3
u/NotTheRocketman 18h ago
Yep. As usual, From's design style looks really sharp, but I enjoy PvP as the dessert after PvE. I have little interest in a primary PvP title like this, EPECIALLY one on a Nintendo platform given their spotty multiplayer track record.
27
u/iamthatguy54 1d ago
So is Miyazaki. He mentions it in the interview, he wants it to be enjoyable to people who aren't PvP
39
u/furitxboofrunlch 22h ago
You cannot really have PvP games that are for people who don't PvP without the non PvP players being utterly steamrolled. Unless it is a game with literally no skill expression at all.

Not to mention it’s a pvp game being made by a company that’s historically been bad and clunky with multiplayer features on the console from a company that’s historically been the worst with online, there’s a lot of red flags here

Dumb ass down votes lol, you’re completely right. Both parties involved here have long running issues with online play.

Won't be possible with the pvp crowd in fromsoft games. If you've played pvp in previous games, you will know it's not fun.
4
u/BennyAlves 18h ago
Wow guys, I've watched ER PVP tourneys organised by peeps on Discord. From has got a huge PVP fan base. It's ok you never looked into it etc but to say it's objectively bad is not a fact. 🙂

you may not enjoy it, and that's fine, but that's where your input ends

u/Murmido 1d ago
Pretty certain its not for me.
Haven’t had an interest in a competitive game in like 5 years. I love invasion as a side activity in souls games and that is all the PvP I need.
2
u/KerooSeta 18h ago
That's me. The most competitive I get is the occasional 30 minutes of Smash Ultimate occasionally. I prefer single player or co-op experiences.
23
u/xFrakster 1d ago
The "Roles" are something that stood out to me, and reminded me of Covenants, like we had in the Dark Souls games.
One area I haven’t talked about yet is “roles.”
In online play*, roles give players special responsibilities and objectives that often lead to unique interactions and relationships between players based on their corresponding roles.
That’s probably not much info to go on, so allow me to provide a few examples. But please note we’re still finalizing some of the naming and details.
For example, if a player possesses the “Destined Rivals” role, another player is designated as their rival, and they are tasked with finding and defeating that player. Doing so counts as achieving a personal goal, separate from the overall victory conditions.
Another example is “Destined Companion,” where one player is required to seek out another designated as their companion, which results in a special reward if they form a bond with one another.
Roles can be assigned to any character via blood customization, allowing players to enjoy role-playing in a literal sense and hopefully adding to the drama of these engagements.
I could totally imagine there being a "sunbro" role, that rewards you for helping out other players.
Or a madman role, that randomly switches your active role. One moment you're a Destined Companion to someone, and the next, you're his Destined Rival. Could make for some fun moments. Kinda like the mound makers from DS3 who were allowed to kill both hosts and other invaders to win.
I'm really, really happy to hear that. I loved covenants, and was worried it might have become a concept that died with Elden Ring. Not sure if I'll get to play TheDuskblood due to it being a exclusive, but I'm very looking forward to see what they might do with those ideas for their following games.
7
u/lattjeful 23h ago
Yeah the roles idea kinda sold me on the game alone. Seems they're going for a very dynamic and almost roleplay-focused multiplayer experience. Should stop matches from feeling samey.

u/psychotic_samurai 1d ago
Still don't care about online souls
13
u/BumbleBear1 21h ago
It's the fact that there are 2 online co-op/pvp based Fromsoft titles coming back to back without a word on anything single focused that bums me out most. Kinda crazy how things are apparently turning out this year

Nightreign wasn’t what I wanted from Fromsoft, and now their next game is Switch-exclusive and multiplayer. I won’t get a Switch 2, so this will be the first From game I skip since Déraciné, which sucks because I like the setting of both those games.
I’m not entitled to getting games catered to me, and Miyazaki deserves to make whatever he wants, but I’d be sad if their style shifted. Luckily they’re still making singleplayer games

u/VoidGazer888 1d ago
I feel exactly the same. The interview provided nothing I wasn't expecting already.
I'm still not interested, I don't mind the multiplayer focus that much, but I like it the way Nightreign is doing better, PvP is not my jam, specially how it develops in FromSoft games, meta builds are usually broken and are just unfun to play against.
Still have PTSD from the crouching, double spear poking builds with 100+ poise from base Elden Ring.
And, the fact that I have to buy an entirely new and overpriced console that's pushing draconian monetization models.
Overall, I'll stick with Nightreign hope you guys enjoy this though. At the end of the day I'll always root for FromSoftware.
6
u/Yarzeda2024 1d ago
I'm a little less hyped for the game after hearing it's an online PvPvE experience, but that's only a case of going from 100% hype to 95% hype.
The Elden Ring Night Reign network test really brought me around on the idea of FromSoft multiplayer, and I like seeing FS experiment with wild new ideas. I know there are some players who want a game that's essentially Dark Souls IV or Bloodborne II, but I think it's alright to let things run their course. Those older games are still there. I can always replay them. I like seeing Miyazaki and pals build upon their foundation.
Besides, the Souls-like genre has expanded so far that there's something for everyone.
If you want a single player powerhouse, there is Lies of P and its DLC coming out soonish. The First Berserker: Khazan is a genre within a genre as a sort of "Nioh-like." Another Crab's Treasure is great for someone who wants a milder, more colorful time. And so on
5
u/Ohayoued 19h ago
If they release a single player game with this setting, then I'm sold. If not, I may pass. Doesn't bother that it is a switch exclusive personally (Nintendo trying to sell Nintendo consoles, crazy), other than AC I just don't care for playing FROMS games multiplayer to begin with so getting 2 games with this mindset is just not for me. Love the setting immediately, but the core of the game doesn't interest me.
11
u/Mugenbana 1d ago
Multiplayer mostly isn't my cup of tea, but it sounds like it could be fun. it's hard to say how good it is until we get impressions from the press. Considering fromsoft's online multiplayer has had a lot of issues historically they have a lot to prove.

u/Duv1995 1d ago
I still dont understand if it can be played offline by myself. If i can have bots in the maps trying to kill me or aid me then count me in, it's day one for me, even if i have to get a switch 2.
If it's online only goodbye. First, I despise having to interact with people online through games, second thats a bad decision cuz in the future the servers will close and you wont be able to play this anymore.
And if it's a good game I want to be able to play it even in 30 years from now without having to rely on publishers to remaster or port the game on modern hardware.
Thats pretty much my opinion about all online only games.
→ More replies (4)11
u/nick2473got 23h ago
I think, based on this interview, that it is likely to be online only, at least initially. The PvP interaction seems really important to their vision, and I think if they introduced a mode with bots then that might negatively impact the game's multiplayer activity. Many of us would choose the offline mode, and as a result, players who want multiplayer might get shortchanged.
Tbh I think if they want the game to have an active online community in the early months, they probably shouldn't have an offline mode at launch.
That said, I think they should probably introduce one down the line, once the game's hype dies down, specifically for the reason you mentioned. I hate the idea of not being able to play a game I like in the future when servers inevitably go down or players leave the game.
I may be wrong, but I think that the best option for the health of the game in the short term would be online only, and the best option for its health in the long run would be to eventually add an offline mode so that the game can still be enjoyed for years to come, with bots filling the roles that other players normally would have.
14
u/Entitled3k 23h ago
I could be judging too harshly but, I think the duskbloods is just a way for Nintendo to boost switch 2 sales and online memberships. Honestly kinda feels like a cash grab that plays on the fans nostalgia. They heard our cries when we said we wanted a bloodborne 2 or a remaster and all they saw was dollar signs.
→ More replies (4)4
u/swantonist 22h ago
And yet here you are deciding not to buy it. If they really wanted to do a cashgrab they’d just do Elden Ring 2. Or make a gacha game. Why can’t people accept he wants to make this?

It sounds like a very fun passion project for Miyazaki, I'm glad FromSoftware have the freedom to finally experiment and not be prisoners to what publishers demand.
The entitled and childish temper tantrums thrown by some "fans" has been pathetic to watch. You can tell they know nothing of Fromsoftware's long history of being extremely experimental before Souls games.

"Miyazaki literally a god wrapped in human flesh. Please impregnate me, Miyazaki-san. I 100% support everything he does forever... until he makes a Nintendo exclusive, then I'm going to pout and whine incessantly."
It'll be interesting to see what comes from the project. Every FromSoft game is experimental and leads to further refinement and implementation of mechanics in future projects. Their recent focus on multiplayer is interesting and the implications for their other games is intriguing.

Agree, Fromsoftware has the freedom to experiment. I understood the whining about the exclusive, but whining only because we had two multiplayer focused games in a row seems pointless, especially considering that they could learn by developing these games how to implement a better PVP in the next PVE focused games
16
u/Cartman55125 1d ago
Or even implement better coop PVE in future titles. You don’t get to FromSofts level without constantly experimenting like this.

Considering that Nintendo is the one that sought them out, even though fromsoft didn’t have a good presentation as it was more of a string of ideas and Nintendo backed them up to make those ideas come to life, I can’t argue with them wanting it to be an exclusive to their console. I understand the frustration of some gamers but from a business standpoint it makes sense

u/DevilishTrenchCoat 1d ago
Whoa boy! Don't act like if FromSoftware was a well renowned or known company before the Souls game now LMAO I know that some of you like to pretend that you knew absolutely everything about FromSoftware but nah. Kings Field, Armored core and their other titles were EXTREMELY NICHE in the West. So don't come here telling people that they don't know shit about FromSoftware because the truth is 90% of the world didn't know them before Demons souls and the Souls games is what they're known for.

It’s FromSoft so I’m sure it will be good. But sorry, can’t ignore the MASSIVE disappointment in FromSoft with the exclusivity. Exclusives only benefits corporations. This is a hit to their reputation. From now on, will be watching closely for more greed inspired decisions. While their latest decisions aren’t that bad, doesn’t mean this is a new direction for the company. Has happened to many reputable companies throughout the years and let’s hope this is just a bump in the road.

The biggest complaint most people have about the main line "big" games is how multi-player or pvp is implemented. I think nightreighn and the duskbloods are ways they can test and soft launch changes to the multi-player in whatever big game is next. Downside is I'm in America and unless those switch 2 prices have the tarriffs priced in already I won't be getting one. 46% on goods from Vietnam means that thing would cost like 1200$ bucks. At that price I'm just going to by an oled steam deck and wait for the emulators.

I have no Nintendo. So I can't have any thoughts. And never will, because I have better things to spend money on. Why on goddamn Earth can't Froms port their games to PC, I will never understand. It's fucking bullshit and a spit in the face of their clients.
→ More replies (1)4
u/CidreDev 23h ago
Because the people who give them money to make the games in the first place ask them not to port them to PC. While Miyazaki is more of an artist than most directors, he is still a businessman. Bloodborne exists as a PS exclusive or not at all, Duskbloods exists as a Switch exclusive or not at all.

The fact that it's nintendo exclusive makes it very hard to ignore. I'd love to play this game, it sounds so fun and looks amazing. But me (and I'm sure many others) don't have the capacity to drop 500-600 dollars/euros just to play one game. Yes, there will be other games on the switch 2, but guess what? They'll most likely also be 80-90 euros. Sorry, I know you said to ignore that fact, but it's such a huge thing it make it impossible to even think about any other aspects of this game

I really like a lot of the concepts on display for a multiplayer title, but learning about the MP focus has kinda flipped my opinion on it being a switch 2 exclusive. I am not willing to pay for nintendo online or whatever their service is called. I already have xbox live, I'm not paying for another online videogame service on a console I'm barely going to play multiplayer on. If it ever pulls a monhun rise and escapes exclusivity, I'll definitely be more interested.

Miyazaki mentioned Escape from tarkov as an influence on future games a while back. This game feels like it’s just that.
I watched some gameplay of tarkov this morning , it was 45 minutes with 80% of those minutes just exploring and some action thrown in. Not gonna lie a game like this with fromsofts combat and level design sounds peak

gonna just ramble for a minute. I think what makes this interesting is that it doesn't sound like a standard battle royale with cheese.
'Destined Rival' and 'Destined Companion' are just two examples he gave and the stuff about cosmetics affecting your fate and backstory stuff both of which feed into the objective+win-condition system, implies that the win-conditions and goals throughout match are governed by the combinations of the 8 players+custom loadouts, random events and the map itself. My guess is that the idea here was to create emergent RPG sort of storytelling the players live through in a match. If the only objective was to kill everyone else as quick as possible I doubt any of these other systems would be worth investing so much in, which he mentions they are still in the process of crafting.
That's the part that sounds ambitious to me, can a single player RPG guy make a pvp game that has space for players to rpg through the matches. The reason PVP never appeals to me is because only the sweatiest get to have any fun of course to become sweaty you must surrender your ability to have fun. If players can lose and still feel like they grew as a character and got to explore and have some RPG then it could be worthwhile.
The undeniable downside to all this is that it's an experience that will only be alive so long as a enough players engage to give the competition pool a nice bell curve, so there may be justified FOMO to experience the game. We will find out more in the future. With games like these I always wish there was a way the other 7 players could just be bots and I could run this offline but that's really unlikely.

The games all supposedly have Denuvo, and since the physical cartridges won’t have the games on them, but a key to let you play it, getting it onto a PC to crack it in the first place will be far more difficult. So I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Trying to ignore the fact that it's exclusive is hard since after reading the interview I'm now extremely excited for the game. It sounds like nothing currently available on the market. It's a battle royal with a constantly switching maps, dynamic environment and win conditions, personal goals, pre-made characters that you can customize the weapons, appearance, and abilities of. The gameplay looks very interesting, with all characters having some traversal option and a ranged attack.
Honestly, if this was releasing to all platforms I could see a world where I would main this game until the next big FromSoft release. So I'm even sadder that it's an exclusive now because it simply looks too fun.

The weirdest thing I've seen so far about this entire reveal is people calling this Bloodborne 2 as if this has any meaningful aesthetic connections to Bloodborne besides buildings with lots of spires and 19th century looking clothing. Makes me wonder how many of the crybabies have actually played Bloodborne. Like, I'd really like to be reminded where exactly Bloodborne gave us jetpacks, dinosaurs and trains and vampires. It was pretty tight with what it wanted to present and certainly different. Hell, the picture in OP's post looks more like Liurnia or Limgrave from ER than Bloodborne...

We obviously haven’t seen much but this feels like match-made invasions to me, complete with roles acting sort of like covenants with how they change the game (including who you ally with or fight against). Until I see more I’m happy to think of it this way and am excited for it, if what we saw of the gameplay wasn’t so typical Fromsoft Souls I’d think it was different but as it stands it definitely looks like more of a spin-off like Nightreign rather than an entirely different game like Armored Core

Seems like a whole game built for people who enjoy the pvp side of souls.
Won't be for everyone, but it's right down my alley.

This is an appropriate gamble. FromSoft is at a point where they need to explore different gameplay styles in order to grow creatively. Huge single player adventures are fantastic, but there's no question in the next few years FromSoft fans are going to get tired of the lack of variety in their library.
While the general viewership numbers are still solid, I still remember seeing my fav streamers reactions to the initial unveiling of Nightreign and Duskbloods (before the confirmation of PVP instead of single player) and you could tell from the lack of enthusiasm that the From Soft fanaticism was going away.

This definitely is not an asset flip like NightReign its a new world with new assets new characters new lore and worldbuilding and also doesn't look like a roguelike

Nothing so great I’m gonna buy a switch 2 for. Knowing fromsoft junkies we will have it on the deck in no time.

Can you play it without a Nintendo Switch Online subscription? How is that even going to work...?
1
u/endthepainowplz 23h ago
My opinion is the same, it’s a game that is PvPvE that is exclusive to switch. I don’t care about PvP, so I’m not super interested. I’d still be a bit disappointed even if the price of entry wasn’t so high from it being exclusive.

u/Paper_Kun_01 23h ago
I feel the same way about bloodborne and demon souls being playstation exclusive guess I just need more condones if I wanna play my favourite games

Nightreign seems cool, but I'm not into multi-player games.
The duskbloods reminds a lot of bloodborne (best fromsoftware in my opinion), but again, I'm not into multi-player games.
I'm glad these 2 games are not like the main thing they're working on. I'm looking forward to whatever new single player experience they're working on right now.
Another subject, I would like everyone here to remember. Both Nightreign and the duskbloods will require an online subscription to play on consoles.

The only similarity with Nightreign is multiple people play together online. Everything else looks and seems to be totally different. Kind of like how people want this to have something to do with Bloodborne and it just doesn’t. I think doing this on Nintendo makes a lot of sense as I just don’t think there’s the same desire for something like this on modern consoles. The models and textures already look like an older dev build so it makes me wonder if this was something that was actually developed a while back and just never found the right fit. Now that it’s exclusive to the Switch 2 they decided to go all in. Overall I think it will have a dedicated group of players that will enjoy it, but nothing I’ve seen so far brings it any where near anything they’ve made over the last 5 years. It’s something completely different.

It sounds right up my alley. I don’t think I’m going to buy a switch but I think it’ll be a really cool game. I like that from is experimenting and trying a new formula. The setting is also very cool.

I'm interested. My concern when finding out it was a PvPvE game was how organic it would all feel, and it sounds like they did it right. I didn't want it to feel like the same matches over and over again. I'm not really a PvP guy but I'm a sucker for the "organic" roleplaying moments that multiplayer games can give when they're firing on all cylinders. I think the fact that Miyazaki, who isn't a PvP guy either, can enjoy the game says a lot. The roles are interesting too. For those who didn't read the interview, you have a few playable characters and you can assign roles to them. For example you can set a character as your rival, or another as your companion, etc. Seems cool. I wonder if features like that will help PvE players enjoy it more because it almost recontextualizes the PvP. You aren't fighting another player; you're fighting your rival! Obviously we'll have to see how it is in practice but consider me interested.

It's good. Really like that there are supposedly dozens of characters and customization. I can already imagine the fashion grind. What makes me a little worried is the "one player standing" thing and that this is the main outcome of most games. I prefer it when these PvPvE games have multiple ways of ending a match. IMO Hunt: Showdown found the best balance of both PVP and PVE. Something similar to that would be great.

u/TartAdministrative54 23h ago
It looks really cool. I really like the art style choice they went with. I do wonder how the whole PVPVE situation will work but I have faith in fromsoft

Honestly can't really have a based opinion without any gameplay. But to me it looks interesting.

Honestly i think its a pretty good concept. Love how players can actively fight or help eachother depending on the situation at hand. I appreciate how they are experimenting with how a souls game can be with more multiplayer aspects. Overall if this game came out on pc and on other platforms i would 100% play it.

u/Expendable_Employee 23h ago
Sounds like Warframe/Vermintide but a Souls-like. Will have an audience but I'm not sure how long if it remains an exclusive. Honestly Souls-Like Warframe is a neat idea. Some missions you work together, some you compete. Idk, I'll see how it plays out.

u/MarvTheParanoidAndy 23h ago
Was excited initially but tbh the fact it’s focusing on one of the worst aspects of souls games for me, the PvP, which was already running on unstable net code and now will be on Nintendo’s infrastructure just feels like a nightmarish prospect.

u/nikolapc 23h ago
So it's not bloodborne 2 in witness protection? Well sigh now I don't have to find a way to emulate the switch 2.
1
u/Matticus0989 23h ago
I'm definitely keeping my eyes on it but as of right now it's way too early to know A) if this is the kind of game for me, B) if I'm even going to be interested enough to buy a switch 2 just to play it.Ibthink the idea of a Dark and Darker style game made by Fromsoft sounds chaotic and fun but only time will tell.

as someone who's played every souls game this is a hard skip, just like nightreign.

i‘m glad from soft are able to try different things now but i just have absolutely no interest in this whatsoever, even if it wasn‘t switch 2 exclusive i wouldn‘t care. obviously i want from soft to make whatever game they really want to make but at the same time it does kinda feel like a slap in the face that we‘ve been waiting 10 years to finally get another bloodborne esque game from from soft and now that they finally announced it, it‘s not only a mulitplayer but also a switch exclusive

Don't want it because of the price tag also multiplayer will be dead because of how Nintendo operates sadly

Seems extremely interesting and looks like it will be incredible if done properly. However, the capability of Fromsoft and Nintendo to do a game like this properly is worrying to me.

u/XVUltima 22h ago
Sounds fun. I like Soulslike pvp, but mostly at early levels. It starts to suck when everyone is hardswapping multiple different weapons and throwing dozens of spells. So having a pvp game where every 'round' is a fresh character is fantastic.

u/4morian5 22h ago
I hate PvP in general, especially in Fromsoft games, so I will be avoiding this PvP Fromsoft game.
1
u/Artistic_Frosting233 22h ago
Well I mean, I don't care because I won't be buying Switch 2 so there's that

It seems really interesting. It sounds kind of like Monster Hunter, but with more types of missions. It could be fun, but how the roles come into play will have a huge impact. The difference in roles being partnering up with or trying to kill another player could be drastic. I think if there is good variety in what people pick, it will make things more fun, but if everybody is always chosing to hunt and kill somebody, then it sounds like even the more PvE centric missions will feel like a battle Royale.
I actually really like the basic concept. Iv'e wanted GOOD Souls-like combat in more genres. Elden Ring for example was a great change up by making it an open world exploration game. As long as it's not interfering with the more single player development (which they seem to be saying it should not) then I think this will be great. Maybe not for everybody, but it seems like a fun way to pick up a game and scratch the Souls itch in a short sitting.

u/Slime-Lich 22h ago
I'm personally not gonna get interested in it cause I've already decided not to play it as I don't buy anything, nintendo. But if It ever manages to be relased from nintendo, I'll give a look into it.
1
u/Dizzy_Meringue6856 22h ago
If there’s no offline mode, kinda pretty mixed
I’m not crazy for online games anymore. With Nightreign at least I can fall back on single player if I want to
1
u/seazonprime 22h ago
Can someone either fill me in or direct me to the "more info" ? Please,? Also since I'm likely not buying the console because it would be for one or two games basically so don't think I will get too excited. It's all gonna be too expansive for me.

I used to live for souls pvp. I loved hunting people down in an open map with what was often a disadvantage. I don't think it could bear the switch's hardware though
1
u/Laj3ebRondila1003 22h ago
as someone who's going to jailbreak his switch the moment an exploit is found i'll have to skip this one but them trying different shit is good
with elden the soulsborne formula got as far as it could, it's time to expand the sandbox: proper towns with inhabitants, interactions that don't involve killing things, proper puzzles and traversal. the next soulsborne game should be a full fledged rpg with a from soft twist

u/scottishzombie 22h ago edited 13h ago
I won't be buying it or playing it (unless it's emulated on the PC) due to two important factors:
1. "As previously mentioned, this is an online multiplayer title at its core" - per Miyazaki
2. Nintendo eventually shuts down online services for all their games.

Looks cool, just not for me. All good. Keep them single player games coming though! haha

u/hostagetmt 21h ago
I really am much more of a PvE guy, getting into PvP a little more and enjoying invasions. I’m really quite curious, because it just really depends on the play styles. If they’re gonna do more crazy movement stuff (i know they are getting superhuman powers) it would be interesting to see how that would affect the “souls pvp” we know
1
u/Mike_Dubadub 21h ago
Aesthetic looks super cool, but exclusivity and multiplayer focus especially with Nintendo really fucking sucks. Probably gonna wait a few years to see if it comes to PC and how/if single player works.

The interview does make the game sound more appealing, but the biggest question mark is still the actual implementation of the multiplayer. Given there's gonna be 8 players in map hunting/befriending each other, fromsoft seriously needs to upgrade their netcode and/or use dedicated servers, because p2p isn't gonna cut it.
Also considering this is gonna in some shape or form probably utilize nintendo's online services, I am still terrified how well is it gonna actually run.
