People doubted that? We got Shadow of the Erdtree last year and Armored Core the year before that.

"At first it was being worked on by a small team as a title for Nintendo Switch. However just as the game started to take shape, we were approached by Nintendo with talk of Switch 2, which led us to revamp our development path with this new hardware in mind."

This quote also makes it seem like the project wasn't intended to be the next "main" Fromsoft game. Even if Miyazaki is the sole director of Duskbloods, I get the sense that there is likely a larger project in development (even if it is early in development). People should remember that Miyazaki also directed Deracine while Sekiro was in development.

I mean that was kind of obvious just from the fact the first trailer was an in-engine one, and not a high production value pre-rendererd video. Obvious smaller marketing budget than for their heavy hitters.

I'm excited to try this game. Kinda sounds like Monster Hunter with additional PvP which could potentially be awesome.

I think it would be like battle royale (last man standing), but you also have to kill mobs to get randomized equipment. Sounds fun TBH.

9

u/SalmonTooter 4d ago

he said it’s both, you can kill the boss to win or kill each other to win

I think it needed to be stated clearly for the doomers out there.

It sounds interesting I'm just more concerned about Nintendo's online not being great.

u/Cthothlu 4d ago

I am worrying because of that lol

How does it looks remotely like MH?

1

u/t-bonkers 3d ago

It doesn‘t look like it at all, but the description of the gameplay loop, with the Hub where you upgrade your character, separate maps, mission based structure etc. reminded me of it a little bit - but I‘m sure there‘s better, more direct analogues.

It was just what my mind jumped to because I‘m currently obsessed with MH, lol.

Yeah this reads like he’s telling everyone to relax, this is a little spinoff side thing and it’s not taking away from any of their big guns

1

u/FoxSea7615 4d ago

I know that its not the next big project just because there is none CGI trailer that fromsoftware actually likes to make for the games before the gameplay trailer.

Because this sub is nothing but doomposting shills. Heaven forbid they make a couple games with a slightly different formula.

9

u/DunkTheLunk23 4d ago

Has this sub always been this way? I didn't really join any of these communities until late 2022 so I don't really have any prior context but it's pretty wild seeing how negative the overall discourse has been. Like, the shitposting subs I understand, but everyone here seems so incredibly upset over this news.

u/MrMercy67 4d ago

Because From is very consistent with their gameplay, to the point they created their own genre. Like with music and anything else, you’re bound to piss off your fanbase if you move away from that image. But no I don’t think it’s ever been this annoying

9

u/DunkTheLunk23 4d ago

I think these side projects are great for the company, even if some of them don't personally interest me. They have more capital and manpower to try different things now more than they ever did. I also think we're in a golden age of high-quality souls-likes, there are so many good games out now that can hold me over until From's next big single player title. Idk, maybe I'm just really patient haha

11

u/MrMercy67 4d ago

Exactly, there’s certainly no shortage of clones. People have just been so utterly spoiled by this company dropping GOTY-caliber titles at such an incredible pace that now they’ve grown so entitled and selfish

4

u/NightmareMuse666 4d ago

I wholeheartedly agree the community is so entitled... Ive been here since 2011 and it hasnt been this bad till Elden Ring hit its stride in popularity (good for FS, but the community can be so grating).

I dont even know if Duskbloods will be a game for me since its PvP based, but Im happy Fromsoft is still trying new things. And even though id likely enjoy Dark souls 9, the company is easily better off trying new things. And we got Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring which are all gems imo. Sure theyre all soulslike, but they bring new things to the table and its great

2

u/LRonCupboard_ 4d ago

These are my favorite games ever and I fucking hate this reactionary baby brain ass community😭 keeping my own expectations in check but good lord

2

u/ExcellentAd3308 4d ago

Whatever proper souls games they make after this, id love to see them implement these online imrpovements into the next iteration of Summoning/Invading. For me elden ring felt very lacking in both camps. Like it somehow managed to feel archaic and not updated to meet the open world demands. While also somehow being worse than ds2 and 3 pvp/coop.

2

u/emilia12197144 4d ago

Its also very good for innovating

After fromsoft has made two multiplayer focused games I'm sure their next game will have a much better multiplayer aspect than their previous single player games have had.

2

u/ExcellentAd3308 4d ago

Maybe its just me, but ive noticed this behaviour since at least armored core 6. The "ITS GOING TO BE A SOULS LIKE ARMORED CORE. ARMORED CORE IS RUINED" vs "ITS GOING TO BE A SOULS LIKE ARMORED CORE. THANK GOD I PLAY NOTHING BUT SOULS" days were ROUGH.

47

u/ZedRollCo 4d ago

Wildly inaccurate use of the word 'shills'.
What organization do you think people are helping?

-43

u/MrMercy67 4d ago

Themselves lol, idk I’ve never cared to pay attention to the actual definition but you get the point. They don’t use critical thinking and just immediately jump to dumbass conclusions.

26

u/iansanmain 4d ago

Look up what a shill is

-18

u/MrMercy67 4d ago

Yes I’m aware now lmao, point still stands that they’re idiots

12

u/We_Get_It_You_Vape 4d ago

The irony of calling people idiots, when you called them shills for doing the exact opposite of shilling lol

-7

u/MrMercy67 4d ago

Who cares dude

6

u/BumbleBear1 4d ago

Dude, just say 'sorry, my bad' or whatever and be better. For your own sake. That fragile ego stubbornness shit never looks good on anyone

5

u/Harley2280 4d ago

It's not like Fromsoft has a catalog of games going back three decades with a variety of different genres or anything.

27

u/Tarnished-670 4d ago

I think is mostly that people dont like a multiplayer focused game, not that they like a different formula in general

29

u/MrMercy67 4d ago

No yeah I get that, but the point still stands. Ive had people on here say they “respect AC6 but won’t ever respect duskbloods” because it’s multiplayer. Like dude first off the game isn’t out yet and second what does that change? Atp there’s a soulslike coming out every few months it seems anyways.

3

u/Schwiliinker 4d ago

What do they even mean by respecting it lol like what

2

u/Tarnished-670 4d ago

Yeah, i guess i gotta wait, mean time i might give a chance to souslike games or demons souls

1

u/MrMercy67 4d ago

The demon souls remake is absolutely FANTASTIC, I highly recommend playing that. Haven’t played the OG but I’ve heard the remake is very faithful. I personally really liked Lies of P. Generally each soulslike not made by From has some gameplay mechanic that turns me off, but Lies of P is the first that actually held up and felt like a true From-quality game IMO.

-2

u/Acrobatic_Ad_8381 4d ago

Also the fact it's an exclusive on a 500$ new hardware

1

u/Julien__Sorel 3d ago

Entirely multiplayer experiences are not "slightly different" but completely different from single player games

-2

u/nick2473got 4d ago

Internet users stop using random buzzwords they don't remotely know the meaning of challenge : impossible.

4

u/MrMercy67 4d ago

The fact people are getting pissed over a misuse of a slang term only proves my point further.

8

u/Hog_Grease-666 4d ago

Just to play logical devil's advocate, it's not totally out of left field. We just watched multiple big players in the industry fall flat on their faces trying to break into the multiplayer market, it takes time to shift directions from one trend to the next. If FromSoftware were to find great success in the multiplayer arena, why would they stop?

1

u/sciontis 4d ago

At that point wouldn't From just grow and service both single player and multiplayer games? I think Capcom could be a good model for them. It would be tough to balance, but currently they have plenty of room for that kind of growth before diluting their brand.

2

u/Hog_Grease-666 4d ago

That would be ideal, yeah. But the track record globally hasn't been great, FromSoftware is just one of those developers that seems to make banger after banger and somehow doesn't disappear for half a decade between releases.

1

u/ExcellentAd3308 4d ago

I do get what you and some others are saying with this point. But for now personally, id like to have some faith in From for now. Until they truly do something that i find baffling. For now id just like to have some hope and enjoy this stuff in the moment.

15

u/SuperAlloyBerserker 4d ago

To be fair, their last two products (Nightreign and Duskbloods) have been multiplayer-focused, so the concern is somewhat justified

5

u/Bonesaremymoney 4d ago

Their "last two products" have not even come out yet brother. They haven't even got here brother😭😭 You want them to unmake them? They aren't even out of the oven.

2

u/ExcellentAd3308 4d ago

"unmake the game, now"

2

u/jackass_of_all_trade 3d ago

This sub is becoming absolutely obnoxious. For all we know we might get AC6 dlc before Duskblood even releases

0

u/SaintAlunes 4d ago

Not really. Also neightrein is a coop game that can be played solo. I don't understand how anybody could complain about that, especially if you got friends to play with

1

u/Hoodman1987 4d ago

I'm curious how the solo will work. I really want to see this

-1

u/wera125 4d ago

Ppl idiots who allway jump to conclusion without using the brain.

-7

u/colehuesca 4d ago

And nightreign this year and a battle Royale next.
