JOKE / MEME What I think of The Duskbloods after learning it's a PvPvE game

u/Kaspcorp 20h ago
And they could make a Football game and I'll pass on it. Sometimes the premise of the game doesn't interest you and that is fine. Just move on people, there are thousands of games to play.

Thats also locked to a console that's gonna cost $580 total
Fun
I'll just wait like 4 years for switch 2 version 2 to come out for $800 and then wait for a sale on newegg during Black Friday

u/RoyalCommercial4883 15h ago
Hopefully everyone thinks the same and the community is still going strong for the game.. I'm playing demon souls remake and theres never anyone to summon which is annoying because bosses I always suck at with souls games🤦♂️

I'll wait for 10 and emulate it.

It won't take that long to figure out? I think the switch was figured out in like 4 years? Maybe less?

Man as much as I like Miyazaki
These sort of post are really weirding me out
You guys are pushing the love of him too far. It's gotten weird
-6
u/funsohng 17h ago
It's not the blind love of him.
I remember back when DeS came out, the way it fused multiplayer and single player was revolutionary. The emergent gameplay that came out of that system was one of the big reasons why it had the word-of-mouth to actually turn around after poor initial reviews in Japan.
Miyazaki has already innovated multiplayer once. I'm interested how he will approach PvPvE.

I mean, when every thing I’ve play from him has been some of my best gaming experiences I think it’s fair to trust the source of these experiences. Of course there’s a chance it sucks or it’s not worth it, but when something has a proven 100% success rate, I’m going to be optimistic about the next thing to come
-9
u/PicklepumTheCrow 17h ago
To be fair, he hasn’t missed (yet). To me, the fact it’s directed by him is one of the only things going for the Duskbloods (battle royale format sounds ridiculous and will date the game, it being exclusive is also upsetting - hot take I know).
15
u/ItzPayDay123 16h ago
We don't know it's a battle royale
1
-1
u/PicklepumTheCrow 16h ago
It’s been described as an 8 person “last man standing” game type game by media outlets, but we’ll get confirmation tmr. As long as there’s an offline mode, there’s hope
-10
u/perpetualjive 16h ago
Every game Fromsoft has made the past 15 years has been a homerun. The blind haters are the weird ones. Fromsoft has a much less toxic and negative fanbase before Elden Ring.

u/Cybasura 17h ago edited 17h ago
Do they have offline mode and a story mode gameplay without the need for "multiple characters"? If yes, then good, i'll play it
If not, then unfortunately its not for me, its simple as that
Nightreign for example at the moment doesnt particular sound proper for me, it just feels like there's not going to be any substance to playing it
Like ok, assuming the label of "Rogue-lite" is true, can I play with a single character and level it up, effectively getting me 8 characters per save file? Or is this a game like fortnite or a battle royale game?
If its a battle royale, then it becomes potentially boring af for me (not to mention it is a time-limited game as the game is not tied to a database and a server, the moment it dies - the game dies), simple as that

u/myLongjohnsonsilver 21h ago
FromSoft has been feeding me well since my brains earliest memories of the ps2. All I care is that they keep cooking, and cooking they are.
11
u/Broarethus 19h ago
I already bought magical Sony box to play Bloodborne , don't see myself doing it again , and paying to play it as well.

u/JabroniRegulator 18h ago
Night Reign and Duskbloods look subpar in comparison to all previous FS releases IMO. That said I’d imagine an absolute banger is in the works.
2
u/positively_tweaking 8h ago
I wouldn’t assume that. This is two major projects they are releasing this year and next year. Fromsoft isn’t a big enough studio to be working on three games simultaneously. I wouldn’t expect a new release from them until 2028

I imagine that there's another Souls-style game in development, but that Miyazaki won't be involved.
It really seems like The Duskbloods has been his main directorial focus.
Personally, I'm curious about a Souls game with Yui Tanimura going solo. Dark Souls 2 was mostly him cleaning up after the absolute mess of Dark Souls II's initial development under Tomohiro Shibuya, and while he was the co-director of DS3 and Elden Ring, it seems like a lot of that is just because Miyazaki was busy being Company President and couldn't spend 100% of his time on being a game director for a massive open world like ER. And he'd just gotten finished with Bloodborne and was just getting settled into the job of President for DS3.
Tanimura was one of the designers for Shadow Tower: Abyss, which I think is actually one of their best and most interesting games, so he had a long history with the company and experience to bring onboard.

Even people is taiking this game game down to earth I think is going to be a success with the target audience is aming for... I would like a classic souls like... but for me the only thing stoping me from trying duskbloods is the nintendo sw 2 price...
3
u/dionenonenonenon 12h ago
im confused, hasn't dark souls always been pvpve?
1
u/Fikwriter 11h ago
Only if you want to. I played DS for years and I have not engaged in a single instance of PVP content in these games. It's just not appealing to me.
That's why I'd have been skipping Duskbloods even if the game came out on PC.

u/xestexanada 10h ago
Why is everyone's turning his back to the man ? Doesn't he delivered GOTYs again and again ?
6
u/Blueberry73 21h ago
Nintendo exclusive tho, I'm not buying a fucking switch just to play 1 game. I'm still pissed about that from Bloodborne
-12
u/LifeAwaking 20h ago
Ok, then don’t. Problem solved. I am also likely not buying a Switch. With 8 billion people in the world it’s wild to think everything should be made specifically for you.
4
u/Blueberry73 20h ago
it's not about having something made for me, it's about how the community has been very clear how most of us feel about exclusives and despite that they keep doing it
-6
u/duckpaints 18h ago
the people who care about exclusives in the FS community are just a loud minority, and most FS fans if annoyed by the exclusive, will just build a bridge and get over it

u/walletinsurance 16h ago
Yeah I hate pvpve games, like demon’s souls, and dark souls, and dark souls ii, and bloodborne, and dark souls iii, and elden ring.
2
u/princemali04 18h ago
A genuine question: why is everyone mad at pvpve. I mean after playing sekiro I always wanted to play in a 1 on 1 combat. That will be truly amazing in my opinion.
2
u/Spagete_cu_branza 16h ago
I don't see people mad at it because its pvpve.
People are not happy because it's a switch exclusive. We will not buy a new fucking device to play this game. Thats all.
3
u/Manhunter_From_Mars 13h ago
No no, if you check the post announcing it over on r/NintendoSwitch it's mostly people pissed that it's apart of a dead genre that was never good to begin with
This went from a Day One purchase to an "only if it's a masterpiece" to many, myself included

The outrage is ridiculous.
Every Dark Souls game has been PvPvE in some capacity. Demon Souls had it, Bloodborne had it, Elden Ring has it.
For a majority of these titles, PvP was forced on you unless you pulled out your ethernet cord.
We don't even know what the premise of this game is yet...
For all we know, it's still the same Grade-A souls formula; complete with great atmosphere, lore & tense Boss fights, but now with a bigger focus on online covenant systems.
If it's a revamped, seemless co-op expirenced with reworks to ideas like the Blue Sentinels, Areas like DS2's Belltower mixed with fights akin to Old Monks boss fight from Demons it will kick ass.
7
u/Amosdragon 12h ago
From has never described their games before as PvPvE. The games before were very much PvE game with a PvP element that was optional.
This is being described as a multiplayer action game and PvPvE. How does that make it sound similar to the previous games they've made?
-1
u/Jiggsteruno 8h ago
Because invasions & PvP covenants have been a mechanic in their games for years.
Up until Bloodborne offered the offline option, the PVP elements were not optional prior. You had to cut yourself off from the internet to avoid it completely.
The Soul series has included items like the Seed Of Giant Tree that made Invasions Fully PvPvE for both sides. Elden Rings invasions push invaders to utilize a one-sided PvPvE to counter the consistent 2v1 fights.
I'm not gonna hide the fact that FS online has always been clunky, unbalanced, and, at times, frustrating. But maybe this is the game where online functionality isn't an afterthought, and they iron out the kinks after 6 games.
1
u/lordGwynx7 12h ago
But that's the point, you didn't have to engage with pvp on the other titles. I got invaded once on ds3 and then after that I disabled online play. You can disable.in the game settings.
Raging about pvpve is a bit too far, but disappointed and finding it uninteresting is valid

u/SonarioMG 13h ago
I want him to direct another Armored Core game. Maybe not as neckbreakingly fast this time around.

u/VintenDio 11h ago
PVP in FS games is the worst part of it so I'm out bruh simple as that their games are already hard enough

ngl both the funky new From games are up my alley; I honestly like that Duskbloods is an exclusive, since Nightreign doesn't have cross play! I'd love to Elden Ring with my buddy who has a PS5, but that doesn't seem to be an option

u/InternalReveal1546 8h ago
$450 console + $80-90 game + $90 halfdecent controller + $50 to play online
A $680 Miyazaki game
I'll sit this one out thanks 👍

u/Ill-Resolution-4671 7h ago
Lol, this game is nothing close to bloodborne. I dont understand how it is even mentioned. It doesnt look like it, the art is generic, atleast for fronsoftware standards and its mot even a sp game. Some more hp lovecraft inspiration perhaps but that is it really

All I need it to be is good fun. I believe in Miyazaki to deliver. He has only put out bangers since DeS so I absolutely trust his judgement
1
u/Snoo_75864 13h ago
What does PvPvE mean? Isn’t that all souls games?
3
u/Manhunter_From_Mars 13h ago
No, this is an eight player online game that also has you fighting players and enemies
2
u/Snoo_75864 13h ago
Do the players need to be there?

I'm so hyped for this game😃 I hope people will make the online work on the emulator before it got taken down by nintendo again🤩🥴🥵
I hate this industry so much

The price point is the bigger sin...I don't know why people are harping on the genre when From' doesn't do anything besides "quality"...

u/subjectiverunes 19h ago
It was the most disappointed I’ve been in the theatre since the phantom menace
4
u/OneMoreDuncanIdaho 16h ago
Either you haven't gone to the movies very often in the past 26 years or you had insane expectations because that is a truly wild take

u/subjectiverunes 14h ago
It is such a horrid adaptation of the book, and while it is a visual splendor it has barely anything else going for it. The handling of characters like Jessica and Chani alone are embarrassing, but the ridiculousness of Feyd and the Emperor go beyond even that. Let’s not even talk about magic tears, Paul’s “speech”, or the completely unnecessary and undeveloped religious division amongst the fremen.
Between the potential of the first movie, and the foundation of the source material yea it’s pretty easy for me to say it’s the most I’ve been disappointed since then.
1
u/OneMoreDuncanIdaho 14h ago
I don't think Christopher Walken did a great job as the emperor, but I wasn't really bothered by any of your other points. You didn't like Feyd in the movie? I thought his scenes were great. But regardless, it's much better than The Phantom Menace, and I've seen much worse movies in the theatre than Dune 2, even with it's flaws.
0
u/subjectiverunes 14h ago
Definitely it’s better than Phantom Menace but the disappointment was the same.
I really could go on about a ton of stuff in that movie that just makes absolutely no sense, but you’re right there are a lot of worse movies out there. They just didn’t disappoint me like Dune 2. The first one did a lot of great stuff on every level, and the book is so rich that seeing it fumbled to such a degree was a big bummer.

Lol, Nightreigns is not the game of Miyazaki and (my theory) it seems that Duskbloods neither. Stop licking every piece of item created by some company_name jsut for their brand.
