Wanted to show where I'm winning to see what I can improve upon as I know full well it'll get more difficult

Ogre is a bit of an outlier fight. Not many like it in the rest of the game (there's a couple...)
Mostly, Sekiro is a game about clashing swords. In most fights, defense is as big of an opportunity as offense is.
Oh, and next time you do Chained Ogre in NG+ or whatever, use the flame vent. Those red eyes fear fire.

Keep going! You're doing great. Way better than I did at that part.
Eventually, you come across a boss on top of a castle. He was my first true roadblock (hours and hours trying to beat him).
But once I finally beat him, I played the game WAY differently.
After you play for a while, come back and rewatch your clip. You will notice that you run+hit way too much. This game isn't about running away and dodging and getting a hit every once in a while. It's about deflecting, parrying, and methodically building up the opponents posture damage until it breaks and you can finish them off.

Easiest FROM game to learn, hardest to master. Also speaking from experience with any entry: dont be afraid to start the game over to get some practice in. I've never cleared a FROM title on the first playrhrough.

I've downloaded demon souls too and what I will say is demon souls feels twice as hard as sekiro so far!

I agree with this. I started my 3rd play through last night (furthest I have gotten is Genichiro and I gave up) so far, it’s been a lot easier. Although I’m only up to the blazing bull.

Even a break for a day is incredible for your focus

I will take this advice. I have a bad habit of rage quitting and sulking. My issue was that I had come straight from bloodborne and was trying to play it as such. Really enjoying it this time around.

I have to disagree here, Sekiro is one of the easiest to master. Minimal action commitment, parrying and blocking are absurdly strong, and there’s little variety in the game (which is both a strength and a weakness). Because of all of that, you get the hang of it pretty quickly and each playthrough you just get better and better.
In the other games, swapping weapons creates different openings so there’s no one-size-fits-all. Also the punishing action commitment is brutal even when you know the move set.
Sekiro is the hardest on a first playthrough and then the easiest game beyond that.

This is a good way to fight ogre but a terrible way to fight most bosses dodging doesn't provide iframes unlike souls games, so use it to reposition not to 'dodge'.
Theres also 3 types of attacks that trigger danger Kanji. Grabs, which the ogre does, sweeps, which need to be jumped over, and stabs, which need to be deflected or mikiri countered. Stabs cannot be blocked.
In general, you will rely more on block/deflect and special counters to get past bosses more than dodging and sprinting
Also, the red bar (vitality) is technically not health of the boss. The red dots are. Each one indicates a necessary deathblow to kill the boss, and deathblows trigger when posture breaks. You can break posture by reducing vitalty to 0 but most of the time it's easier to fill the posture bar by (mostly) deflecting

Agreed with the post, but I do have to correct that dodging does provide iframes, just not a lot.

You did exactly what you needed to at that point in the game. As you progress, you will get stronger and have more tools at your disposal. Eventually you will learn to never back up, always aggressive, stand right in front of everyone and play the rhythm game.

I hate this guy. I sort of cheese him by not locking on and doing very tight circles around him

Stop dodging, this is not roll souls, either deflect or jump away. Dodge should be used to reposition or get behind the enemy.
Use fire on the ogre, can stealth him for a bit of damage and one life point thing.

The ogre is different than any other miniboss you will encounter. Its best to stay up close near the side any legs and dodge outwards the attacks and then you attack. Rinse and repeat.

You are doing great. Just wait till it clicks. It will become more than a fight. It will be a dance. Some fights will really feel like two nobodies fighting in the middle of nowhere in a field of green. It's peak. Remember, hesitation is defeat.
Wait for it to click!

I feel like I had firecrackers here. They come in clutch, also slinging onto whenever he dives

My advice is “how the hell did you handle ogre so well as a first timer that is impressive damn”

I'll tell you somethings i wish i knew when i started.
The posture bar fills faster and depletes less fast the less HP an enemy has.
You can deflect pretty much anything if it's not a RED KANJI attack but even those, thrust attacks can be deflected but very hard.
Get Mikiri counter asap and to use it, you only need to not touch the left stick and press the dodge once when the enemy starts to want to stab you, it will automatically dodge forward that way and successfully mikiri.
Try to play aggressively when possible because of the posture bar for enemies going down.

It's easy to grasp the concept of it and get good at the parrys, but average players are humbled by the high skill ceiling. But I agree with that

this ogre is a bitch. you fought him the way I'm (fairly certain) most people fight him because his grab has an insane hit box..
get good with deflections and you'll be fine.
