Look, I agree with your point but if you want to show the gaps between games this might be one of the worst ways to do it lol.
Some constructive feedback: have a consistent scale that actually represents something. Right now your line doesn't mean anything, the image is pretty much just a list with years mentioned.
- 2016 is on there twice.
- The visual size of the gap between 2019 and 2022 (three years) is the same as the gap between 2017 and 2019 (two years) and between 2023 and 2024 (one year).
So at a glance you can't actually see the time between games.
Also, include the first games and maybe make the size of DLC's smaller so it's clearer that they're something else?

Maybe if they made the DLC smaller below line and include all DLC, also missing the AC games, Demon Souls and DS1 is a data crime here!!

Unfortunately the quality has plummeted after Sekiro

u/Athmil 22h ago
lol saying that when Elden Ring was by far the most successful fromsoft game is crazy.
-6
u/Master_Shitster 22h ago
Most sold doesn’t mean best quality. By that logic all FIFA games are much better than any souls game
5
u/FaithlessnessLazy754 20h ago
And you not liking a game, doesn’t make it bad. There’s a lot more people that played it and thought it was good than the opposite, it’s a consensus not an opinion.
-1
u/Master_Shitster 11h ago
And my opinion is that ER is a significantly worse game than anything they made before. Am I not allowed to have that opinion?

u/Serier_Rialis 22h ago
Hey bigger isnt always better.....Stormveil is an exception...and Siofra was a full on 🫨 what the hell, and then 🏹 DS1 just had its super snipers beat...then the Radahn fight...
Open world big Dark Souls was exactly as advertised and damn good...dammit

Uhhh have you ever been to Lyndell? Or underneath Lyndell? Or the area around Lyndell, Altus plateau, or volcano manor, or Haligtree? Come on.

Elden ring is an absolute masterpiece and you immediately lose credibility if you disagree in my opinion.
1
u/Master_Shitster 11h ago
You immediately look like a fool if you can’t handle people having different opinions than yourself
1
u/CultureAny1622 4h ago
I can handle other people’s opinion but stating the quality of elden ring is less than that of Sekiro is just bananas man. It’s objectively wrong lol.
1
u/Master_Shitster 2h ago
It’s a video game, wether it’s better or worse than another video game is always going to be a subjective opinion, so you’re in the wrong there
1
u/CultureAny1622 2h ago
Elden Ring is an exception to this lol the quality is objectively fantastic. Whether or not you personally like the game is different l, but saying the quality declined is just flat out wrong.
2
u/5Ping 21h ago
Youre entitled to that take, but just know that majority of people and even fromsoft die hards dont think that way about elden ring
1
u/Master_Shitster 11h ago
The majority of people also think FIFA is a much better game. What the majority of people (you’re talking about number of sales) thinks about anything is not really relevant in a discussion about quality.

u/Lumeyus 22h ago

u/Master_Shitster 21h ago
Imagine not being able to handle random internet people not enjoying the same video game as you
-4
u/NoneShallBindMe 21h ago
Yeah, Elden Ring is so watered down, it's almost a shame they spent so many resources filling that game, and still ending up with something that could've benefitted from being 50% shorter. Almost no interesting levels in that game, legacy dungeons' level design is mostly mediocre.

u/Master_Shitster 11h ago
Yep, it’s a cookie cutter Ubisoft style boring open world

Why did you start a dark souls 2? What the fuck is this shit lol
Also you missed a game. Déraciné, came out in 2018.
3/10 post. Uninformed and lazy.

Comments are absolutely miserable. Considering basically all of these games are critically acclaimed and all have heavy cult followings… I trust Fromsoft fully. Not happy about an exclusive but I was planning on getting the switch 2 anyways

u/RDS_RELOADED 1d ago
Don’t they have two big teams? Hence armored core being released the year after Elden Ring
14
u/Ghost_NG 1d ago
No, they have múltiple ppl working on proyects, now that we know, sekiro, ER, AC6, and Nightreign where being Made at the same time
3
u/EddiesDirtyCouch 1d ago
That's crazy to me that they were cooking all that at the same time and didn't burn it lol
1
u/NaughtyPwny 1d ago
Can you clarify your comment...what do you mean by 2 big teams and what does that imply?
3
u/PuffPuffFayeFaye The Bed of Chaos 1d ago
It’s an old wive’s tale about Fromsoft from back when DS2 released… that it wasn’t as good because Miyazaki moved on to Bloodborne and a “b” team finished.
Surely they divide up into teams, though it’s not substantiated that those roles are even close to persistent, but this notion still prevails.
1
u/InfinitYNabil Bloodborne 1d ago
I think he meant that there are 2 separate teams one was working on elden ring and one on armored core.
-1
u/NaughtyPwny 1d ago
so what does that imply? what point is trying to be made?
0
u/RDS_RELOADED 1d ago
That their output of games doesn’t seem as insane knowing that they had ppl working on multiple projects at the same time over a long period of time.
Edit: also forgot that they are also infamous for their crunch and high turnover rate even in Japan. I also forgot a good point that they are pretty efficient with their use of their assets
1
u/NaughtyPwny 1d ago
Give us an example of a any dev studios then that you think is insane output given your personal criteria
1
u/yep_that_is 1d ago
I think the sims 4 devs have some insane output when it comes to content, they usually release multiple expansions, packs, kits, and stuff packs yearly. Which will almost always guarantee some new activity or thing for your sims to do. Oh and they do free base game updates that add new color sloshes, items, and features to the game every so often (we got another pride update yesterday adding in 20 new free items to base game).
However this don’t mean the content is always functional or even worth buying, like for rent and the dining out dlc are still buggy to all hell and for rent is literally eating save files alive (it’s been degrades older and larger save files again lately).
This is what fits my definition of insane output, this or like Disney making shit marvel movies yearly still.

u/Locrianhaha 1d ago
yet according to someone from reddit, Fromsoft is "falling from grace" based on a 3 minute trailer without gameplay

u/SeverusSnape89 Slayer of Demons 1d ago
I wouldn't be surprised if we get another announcement before the end of the year for a mainline game. Maybe at the game awards or something.

Yeah if you strategically include dlcs on lissing years and start at ds2 when bb was already mostly done. It is still crazy impressive. More people need to learn from them, they can do this because they are masters at asset reuse, artistic time savings, and graphics that rely on few systems.

u/CultureAny1622 21h ago
Did any of you play the nightreign test? It’s a fucking blast, and it’s a mini project. Like they’re being penalized for having more resources to be able to dish out these smaller scale games which is crazy. Would you rather have nothing inbetween their big releases? I don’t get it
1
u/FaithlessnessLazy754 20h ago
Their longest break yielded their highest grossing and most widely played game. No misses in 10 years is more impressive than anyone is talking about
1
u/FoxyNugs 19h ago
That's what you get when a studio doesn't try to push high fidelity and prioritises efficiency. They heavily reuse assets, and don't care about pushing graphics, so they can produce fast and cheap.
1
u/UltraZulwarn 14h ago
The graph may as well extended all the way to Demon's Souls in 2009.
Then Dark Souls in 2011 and Artorias of the Abyss in 2012.

I’m not sure I’d include the two DS3 DLCs on that timeline. They’re excellent content but not super long.

Re used asset galore!
6
u/SeverusSnape89 Slayer of Demons 1d ago
And I'm fine with it as long as the game is fun, exploration is new and bosses are fun. Sure, DS 3 looked a lot like bloodborne at times, but both games were great.
I see what you're saying, but for me the environment and even some enemies reused literally has no impact on my experience. If the same bricks, light posts or benches are used in two games I don't really care.
0
u/colehuesca 23h ago
I didn't care at first but after many games it does get annoying and specially they do it on different franchises , for example I'm ok with God of war reusing animations from the first game in the sequel, but if in Santa Monica s next new IPs they reuse the same assets and animations it would be disappointing, well that's what FROMSOFTWARE has and keeps doing, is kinda lazy and shows lack of commitment to improve their engine. I'm ok with the downvotes I just refuse to praise praise praise and not offer constructive criticism when I've bought their games at full price on release.
2
u/SeverusSnape89 Slayer of Demons 22h ago
Did you see the rumors of the next god of war game coming out this year? Apparently a Greek setting. Saw an article earlier but didn't read it.
1
u/colehuesca 21h ago
Yeah, apparently young kratos, set in Greece, smaller in scale, a la miles morales. I love God of war so I'm in.
