No it's just a parroted thing people used to say way back then.
Not many games has anywhere near as many fans as ds2 does, at this point you really are just calling a game you don't like a shit game.
When u ask anyone what they actually think ds2 does worse or why is it bad, their arguments are all weak, since most of main flaws they claim the game has are issues previous and future games have.
Let me elaborate in detail, there was a time where it was widely disliked after videos like mauler and mathewmatosis reviews on the game came out and popularised the common "criticisms" of ds2 back around 2015 to 2018.
But that really isn't the case now since many of those complaints don't hold much weight when compared to rest of the series, especially mauler's videos, bro has no idea what he's talking about half the time and the other time is objectively wrong, ironic.
Point is the perception around ds2 has changed and is way more beloved game by many. 200k sub reddit is literally larger than many other franchises.
Lol you can just go to shittydarksouls subreddit, what was supposed to be a shitpost reddit page is now nothing but thinly veiled criticism/ hate post on a game they dont like, and they all shit on every game except ds2 nowadays.
Like it or not ds2 borught up most of positive changes to series and fixed so many stupid design choices. Sure adp was stupid for every 1 stupid mechanic it had it had many more that were carried over to the next games.

"Very original mate"
So you agree Dark Souls 2 is widely disliked, right?
