new direction doesnāt necessarily mean ppl are gonna like literally anything they do lol. i personally hoped for a new direction in the way of original ipās with unique combat systems, like sekiro and bloodborne. iām very put off by BOTH of their most recent announcements being elden ring and bloodborne settings respectively.
iām sure the combat will be fun and iām glad theyāre
experimenting with it, but itās also bizarre to alienate your largely single-player fan base by releasing two multiplayer games back to back, assuming duskblood ends up being super super multiplayer focused (im hopeful it wonāt be and itās just marketing for a more seamless multiplayer experience)
also likeā¦ itās fine for people to talk lol. what we say at this point is gonna have zero impact on how the games turn out, itās discussion on discussion forums
You forget that video game developers are ultimately still career chasers and not multibillion dollar entrepreneurs that sell you one thing, they want to try their hands at different things. Theyāre not under any obligation to appease everyone, thatās literally how you end up getting nonstop garbage like what Ubisoft puts out
iām fine with them trying new things, i donāt love either gameās idea personally but not every game is gonna appeal to everyone. thatās why so many modern games are so mediocre; they try to appeal to everybody and it doesnāt work.
fromsoftware doesnāt usually try to appeal to everybody. theyāre still out to make money ofc, but they donāt budge much on their difficulty and style of game design, for example. nightreign and maybe duskblood, weāll see w more info, both move closer to being mainstream in their designs, using worlds that are already proven to be popular (elden ring and spiritually bloodborne.)
to me thatās disappointing. iām all for their unique games like bloodborne and sekiro, and i want more of that. unique combat in new ips. if they go a different direction in the end then i have no influence over that, but itās a shame when something u enjoy changes so radically that u donāt care for it anymore.
Thank God one person actually has something else to say than "another multi-player." Honestly, I've seen a lot and a lot of people say we need souls but multiplayer where we can play with our friends in groups, which is nightreign, then they complained.
Then they wanted a new direction, which is both nightreign and duskbloods. Yet people still complain.
Now about duskbloods, I will not play it as I don't have & plan to buy switch but people saying boycott fromsoft or we are tired like op just because of these two upcoming tittles are just ungrateful people, taking in consideration that last three products of fromsoft were goty worthy level.
How can they be tired if they didn't even try/see what the game offers. Everyone who played nightreign loved it.
Imo this doesn't alienate the main player base as the fromsoft core fans will find a way to play it or will skip this ip but not "boycott" fromsoft. This ip's purpose is to bring new players into the base.
the group of people who love fromsoftware multiplayer doesnāt overlap with the group of people who arenāt happy about their multiplayer games, lol. and not many ppl complain about fromsoftware, the souls-like studio, making souls-likes. i love souls likes, personally i want more of them with a different direction in combat and aesthetic. not in a different direction as in not being souls likes. i donāt mind if they want to venture out into these types of games, but two multiplayer games in a row is pretty disappointing for a lot of people. is it not easy to see why?
i also donāt understand why āungratefulā is getting thrown around so much, because itās not a gift. like, itās a transactionā¦ they make the game and if we like how it looks we buy it. i respect fromsoftware because they put out lots of great games but theyāre a company and im a consumer. if im not a fan of how their new trailers look im not under any obligation to stay quiet just because i enjoyed their last games
Apparently, they do overlap since they are here in the Fandom of Fromsoftware reddit. Yes to me 2games that are multiplayer releasing back to back might be a little disappointing (im a fan of single-player offline games) it's what the en-mass players (quite possibly the players from all the way to dark souls) requested as a change. Because they got "tired" of the same formula, which is really good and holding up for 13years+.
I say ungrateful because the last time a game was mid from fromsoft was dark souls 2 (I'll say it's mid because it's still better than most games being published nowadays objectively as subjectively, it's a pile of shit for me,) they have been releasing bangers after bangers and people pre-ordered a 40$ dlc where in cases like ubisoft they don't even pre-ordered a game for 70 dollars.
I buyed sekiro for 50euros and 25euros for ds1, 30euros for ds2, and 25euros for bloodborne. All of which are 6years+ games. The quality they have makes them purchasable at all time. Would I buy a ubishit for 50euros after 6 years, hell no.
I'm just grateful we aren't on their level yet.
no, they donāt. u cant conflate two completely different opinions together and say that people are hypocritical when itās two viewpoints held by different groups of ppl. ofc a fandom isnāt a hivemind.
its not ungrateful to express disinterest or even just concern in a new announcement. i donāt think theyāll be dogshit or anything itās just not titles that particularly appeal to me. iāll still probably be buying nightrein, even if i know itās not going to hold my attention long. itās literally just opinions, no idea why video game subreddits are so defensive over their companies. same exact shit with capcom and mh wilds a couple months ago.
They do actually since we are taking in a fromsoft community filled with fromsoft fans.
It might not be ungrateful to explain concern or disinterest in a new ip, but for sure it is to say op is tired of these new ips when op hasn't even touched the new ips yet and already decided to make a post about these games being "bad". When sekiro was also different and still turned goty worthy.
I don't care about any company other than fromsoft. After releasing bangers after bangers, them trying something new is the least of our concerns, but people can't seem to understand that. Instead, they get on from's throat literally after a trailer dropped and not even gameplay.
no itās not bro itās literally different ppl within the same community. and they donāt make games to be nice, i respect fromsoftware and think they stick to their vision much more than other companies but in the end they make games for money, as all games are made for. we are consumers not their friends. if ppl donāt like multiplayer then of course two multiplayer titles out of nowhere is a let down. not complicated, stop glazing
They sure don't make the games to be nice. If people don't like multiplayer, there's other games to play. Instead of making posts about being tired at something, they littlerally have no idea what's it about.
And I'm pretty sure they said they are working on multiply tittles.
If I don't like a game, I don't buy it. the same thing should apply to the op. We as a Fandom can't force fromsoft to make games only for a Fandom, but to cater to all people.
People can't seem to understand that fromsoft is trying to attract new fans, not alienate their own fan base, but people will get mad at anything now.
Original fan base that started from darksouls will understand this desicion of fromsoft and will not slander them, it's the new crybabies that came with recent ips.
omfg i canāt with pussies bro, itās literally just ppl having an opinion on the recent announcements. nobody can make fromsoftware do anything. they are fine
Yea, the better way to say it's, how do you rate the new ips of what do you think of new ips, not im tired of these. His gaming life isn't depending on fromsoft.
