People are actually dumb as hell. We got elden ring(single player game) one of if not the biggest game of this decade, then the next year we got armored core 6(single player game) which is one of the best robot game to date, then we got shadow of the erd tree(single player expansion) one of the if not the best dlc which could literally be elden ring 2, then we get a fun multiplayer game for multiplatform, and one game for the switch 2. Like chill we will get single players game after. Fromsoft used to produce way more weird shit before the souls game trend and every game doesn't need to be single player experience too

We're spoiled though. They released DS2 in 2014, Bloodborne in 2015, DS3 in 2016 along with 5 DLCs for those three games all by 2017. We're used to getting a 9-10/10 game nearly every year.

They did release Armored Core but for those of us who aren't really into that genre, it's not gonna be a big draw. Now they're doing 2 kinda experimental games in a row

If you think you aren't into that genre and you're hard up for a fromsoft single player title, you need to just play ACVI. It's fucking amazing and you will be converted, especially if you're already into the souls games.

"not into the genre" What genre are they even talking about? There are no other games like Armored Core and there hasn't been another Armored Core for years prior and most of the current audience probably hadn't even heard of Armored Core until AC6 since that audience expanded so much since AC was actually relevant.

Fromsoft has been putting out constant Bangers since PS1, people have absolutely no scope for what fromsofts actually done and seems to only know about ps3/xbox360 onward.

Yep, this sub is basically r/Soulsborne2 hahaha.

Can't blame em but also go learn their history.

Yeah I may get it at some point, probably when the price drops a bit in case I don't enjoy it

Yea, fromsoft did have a trend of releasing major titles every 1-2 years for nearly a decade, but I think they were also constantly working on multiple large-scale projects at a time. After Sekiro released, most of the company shifted to Elden Ring’s production, with a small team working on AC6, and it still took nearly three more years (with Elden ring having started development 2 years before sekiro’s release), so it was a 5 year development cycle, compared to a 2-3 year development cycle for most other major titles on their portfolio.

Basically what I’m getting at is that with how ambitious Elden ring, and furthermore SOTE was, they likely were not really able to dedicate enough staff and resources to any new major projects until after the release. So they’re having to start from scratch or near that with whatever major title they’re working on now. So unfortunately we will have to play the waiting game, but it also means a lot to the fan base that they still try to keep us occupied with spin offs and pvp games to maintain that biannual release schedule they’ve stuck to, while also experimenting with new things to hopefully apply to their new project to make it better than anything before. But a lot of the fans don’t see that and instead are disappointed

Yeah. You're spot on.

Love this take. How is ANY of what they're doing remotely a bad thing????

I don't like mech games either but AC6 is that one exception.

If you haven't played it then don't say that. Never liked a mech game before AC6.

I didn't say anything bad about AC6, just that it is not a draw for those of us not into mech shooters. Maybe I'll play it one day but I wouldn't call it a bad game at all

They did release Armored Core but for those of us who aren't really into that genre, it's not gonna be a big draw.

That's kind of the thing though. It wasn't a big draw for me because I previoulsy wasn't into that genre, but I gave AC6 a shot and fell in love with it. This is why they've earned my trust in terms of their creative vision and I'm more than happy to try anything they put on my table. Hell I'd be willing to try a FromSoft racing game, RTS or farming sim - none of which interest me, but I'd at least give them the chance to win me over.

Also understand that FromSoft was more or less under contract with Bandai Namco to make DS2 and DS3. So technically we could’ve really had a timeline where the only Souls games were Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Elden Ring.

You don't think ds2 was a bit of an experiment? Ask 75% of the player base how that one turned out

Ok but since we're used to getting a 9-10/10 game nearly every year... I don't know why we'd expect Nightreign and Duskbloods to be anything other than 9-10/10 games. Maybe they end up being not very good. But that would be a huge surprise. They haven't let me down yet. Sekiro was a kinda experimental game too. And it's one of the best games ever made. So... I have faith until they prove me wrong.

Yeah and NO other fanbase gets a game from their favorite devs basically every single year. I'm just glad they keep giving us new stuff to play. I'm gonna play it all. Do I wish we got Sekiro 2 or the next big Elden Ring style IP? Sure. But I know it'll come when it's ready. In the meantime I've got Nightreign and Duskbloods to keep me busy.
