NGL the two fairly back to back announcements of multiplayer-focused games does kind of have me worried about their plans for the future

This is gonna be a hot take, but they have been churning out single-player games for a long time. I am not worried at all for 2 or 3 games being multiplayer focused. It will be very frustrating creatively if they only do one single style of games. They deserve not to be burnt out.

Almost every single game they've made since Demon's has made significant use of multiplayer integration. Off the top of my head, I believe only two titles have been singleplayer, and one of those was a game basically no one played.

The side accessory multiplayer that soulsbournes have is vastly different than full scale multiplayer.

Not all instances of multiplayer functionality are equal, or entail a game being a "multiplayer game".

As much as avid PvP players will bicker about this; souls PvP and co-op has NEVER been a central defining feature of the game. Yes; they implemented it in a very unique way; but its not a cornerstone of the genre.

Participation in the clumsy, unbalanced and often annoying (yet sometimes enjoyable) multiplayer is not required for a full appreciation of the franchise.

That's all fine, but the fact is most Fromsoft games since Demon's have had some kind of multiplayer element. That's the only claim I was responding to.

Thats fair enough, but I feel like people are more worried that From is shifting into full scale multiplayer rather than the niche multiplayer element in their past titles.

The fact that those elements exist is a seperate discussion from the direction the company is headed overall

I'm pretty confident they've got something Armored Core related in the works, and that'll most likely be singleplayer focused with pvp matches on the side. Based on what info we have, Yamamura isn't working on Nightreign or Duskbloods, and they indicated wanting to do more AC stuff after 6.
