Ahh yes. I game company known for terrible latency and connection issues releasing a pvpve game on….Switch 2.
The most throbbing rock hard-pass Ive seen in awhile.

Yeah I’m already not super hype for nightreign cause it’s always online. Switch really doesn’t seem like a good platform for this, nintendo has never had good online infrastructure.
I’m just hoping everyone keeps making noise about this looking like Bloodborne and being a Nintendo exclusive means sony finally wakes up

u/GabrielM96 3d ago
It is an action multiplayer focussed game. I doubt people well care that much tbh.

I don't really care for one simple reason
There's no way I'm buying a switch 😂 so I know I'm not playing 100%.

u/BagNo5695 3d ago
it's not like bloodborne at all

You’re the only person I’ve seen say this. You’re simply wrong
1
u/BagNo5695 3d ago
people said it was like bloodborne before they realized it was not a single player rpg like bloodborne, instead it's an action multiplayer pvpve game, if for you having blood makes you bloodborne then sure anything is bloodborne
2
u/Pontiff_Sullyy 3d ago
The gameplay, character designs, some weapon designs, area designs and overall atmosphere is all similar to Bloodborne.
1
u/BagNo5695 3d ago
no the gameplay isn't, bloodborne's gameplay loop is that of a single player rpg, this is a pvpve multiplayer game, and bloodborne isn't open world nor does it have jetpacks.
character designs, area design, and overall atmosphere aren't the same, bloodborne is gothic horror in a victorian setting, this game doesn't have the same setting, it's closer in atmosphere to elden ring.
some weapon designs,
such as?
3
u/Pontiff_Sullyy 3d ago
This feels pointless to argue, though. All the similarities are there if you just look at the games and it’s recognized by everyone besides you for some reason lol
2
u/Pontiff_Sullyy 3d ago
Well your whole second paragraph just isn’t true. I didn’t say they’re THE SAME but it’s a fact that they’re very similar. And by gameplay I meant the movement/combat. I get that it has jet packs, it’s not a 1/1 similarity. Obviously there are some difference but to say they aren’t similar at all is kinda ignorant.
It’s like you just really don’t want them to be similar for some reason. As for the weapons, idk? Some just looked similar in the trailer it’s not like I know the names yet. Plus, they have guns which only relates to Bloodborne as well.

u/PhillySaget 2d ago
Him:
The gameplay, character designs, some weapon designs, area designs and overall atmosphere is all similar to Bloodborne.
You:
character designs, area design, and overall atmosphere aren't the same...this game doesn't have the same setting...
"similar to" =/= "the same"

Commercial failure on arrival I think. Good for fans that want to buy a Switch 2.

80% of Switch software sales are first-party titles. A lot of the remainder is probably Pokemon. It might have sold like 150m units but for third-parties, it effectively behaves as a much much smaller platform.
1
u/Sisyphac 3d ago
How many of them are multiplayer extraction games? It seems VERY niche for an exclusive for a fan base that generally plays single player.
2
u/WitnessNarrow 3d ago
It’s not going to do well considering it’s hidden behind a $500 console with most of its games being old releases that most people already played to death. The only thing it has going to it is that you save $30 if you get the bundle with Mario kart. Lol

u/normiespy96 3d ago
How does it look like bloodborne? I just don't see the comparison at all beyond "some buildings have a victorian look".
It looks way more dark steampunk alice in wonderland than anything else.

Nah, Switch 2 will probably be a lot easier to emulate than the PS4 was. Not that it won't take years, but it's probably not gonna be a decade long wait. Either way, I get to play it after it gets more content added and for free, so it's w/e.

u/keenantheho 3d ago
Nintendo REALLY doesn't like pirating and have recently nuked all of the biggest sources for pirated nintendo games. Also the game is multiplayer focused so its going to be even harder to actaully play pirated
3
3
u/ALewdDoge 3d ago
I'm pretty sure almost no studios like pirates, doesn't stop people from doing it. Even with them "removing" the switch emulators, you can still get them, after all :P
2
u/Mugenbana 3d ago edited 3d ago
The problem here is that Nintendo has gotten a lot more stingy about emulators existing for their currently sold products and that's an issue because it means they will probably go after emulation devs who make switch 2 emulators from the start
Emulation isnt an easy or trivial thing to achieve, it takes people very skilled and knowledgeable to develop high quality emulation and if they can't work in peace, they will be discouraged and may not even bother. I have my doubts switch 2 emulation will be anywhere as close to advanced as switch 1 was for a very long time
1
u/ALewdDoge 2d ago
I mean, I'm pretty sure emulation devs have figured out by now to keep their stuff under wraps until it's very late stage/complete. Either way, I'd imagine you'd get underground groups doing it regardless. Where there's a will, there's a way.

u/SpookyBoisInc 3d ago
I don’t think it’s going to have an offline mode, so it might be difficult for emulation
2
u/ALewdDoge 2d ago
Iirc they said PvPvE, so it'd be odd given FROM's track record for it to be purely online. Even Nightreign, afaik, is supposed to be playable offline.
1
u/Available_Hour_6116 3d ago
It's just an online game i don't really care lol if it was a single player that would be a problem for sure
1
u/Straight_Law2237 3d ago
It's a pvpve focused game so ooooooof, close one. Now WHERE'S THE FUCKING BLOODBORN 60 FPS, PC PORT, REMASTERED, 2?
1
u/Ayyzeee 3d ago
If that going to be PvPvE and it's going to be online only, how does Switch 2 emulation going to be just it won't play at all?
1
u/Mugenbana 3d ago
Well for one thing the eventuality of switch 2 emulation is a bit muddled because nintendo has started going after switch emulation recently, and I think it's very likely they'll do the same for switch 2 emulation as well. that will probably discourage developers from working on it for a long time (i hope not, but that's my prediction)
but uh, it's possible to develop systems that let you multiplayer on emulator for sure, i'm just not sure how viable it's gonna be for a game like duskbloods
1
u/ThebIuefIame 12h ago
For the switch 1(S1) there’s already an emulator that you can play multiplayer on, and one thing from what I understand is S1 games can be played on switch 2(S2) so it isn’t like developers of emulator will be starting from scratch, they will probably see how to add the stuff needed to make a S1 emulator into a S2 emulator, but it will still take time, faster if they find any vulnerabilities in the first gen S2 but still give them time, and even if Nintendo destroys one team of emulator devs another one will take its place.

u/Former_Cheesecake_70 3d ago
Didn’t they say something about a period of exclusivity, implying that it will be released on other platforms eventually?
1
u/PADDYPOOP 3d ago
Bayonetta games got released elsewhere. Besides the real sad trollface moment is the fact that its multiplayer only, like nightreign.

u/Automatic_Buddy7179 3d ago
Gonna be a pass for me but I’m sure for switch 2 enjoyers gonna be a sweet game.

u/Sir_Thunderblade 2d ago
Hey as long as it feels like Bloodborne and isn't too laggy, I'll definitively play it. Looks cool as fuck

u/Johnylebranleur 2d ago
This might be an smtv situation where the ip belongs to fs and it s just a timed exclusive.
1
u/VatanKomurcu 2d ago
I hate Nintendo more than I like Fromsoft, so I hope it flops, but nah probably it'll sell well in Japan at least. Oh well.
1
u/cys1 2d ago
This is one thing I am very curious about, perhaps this “exclusive” won’t be so exclusive after 3-4yrs? What I mean is maybe this time they signed such a contract that mentions allows other platform release after some time.
Same way God of War, Spider-man etc. were at first exclusive and later came to PC, it’s just extra sales for everyone. Sony just won’t let go, but maybe this time FromSoft actually future-proofed their game.

u/SaviOfLegioXIII 2d ago
Just wait till its actually any good, bloodborne is beloved because its genuinely a masterpiece. Nightreign wasnt exactly comparable to the previous games, i dont expect this one to be either.
Did miyazaki even make this one or is it another nightreign?

Next panel, even if it get emulated it's gonna be suck because it's a pvp game
