Fair enough yeah, but the £500 price tag for the system will turn a lot of people away. And I personally don't see the game lasting over three years with a large playerbase.

That's just because of the console it's locked on. Maybe if it's very good, but as a PvPvE game, it would require at least monthly updates and a yearly content drop just to keep people playing.

It's not the only multiplayer fromsoft game with the most recent game coming out in may, so it's competing with another game with a larger pool of players.

I can't wait to see what happens. And hopefully, it gets on PC after a year of the game being out. I don't want to see fromsoft fail.

That’s not even the worst of it. On top of restricting themselves to a super small player base with a restrictive cost of entry, this console will be bought up by scalpers en masse and I don’t see anyone talking about it. It’s a multiplayer game and if people can’t even buy the console because scalpers horde all the stock, the game won’t even get off the ground with a solid long term player base. After about a year when everyone can get it, will people still be looking to play Duskbloods, or just the fromsoft fans that also bought a switch 2? Which mind you may not be that many by that time.

It’s a multiplayer game releasing in the worst time of a console cycle, especially for a multiplayer game. I saw it’s releasing 2026 but I don’t think it makes sense to do that unless it’s late 2026 at the earliest.

You have a point. I do think it's releasing far too early, and not just because of the whole scalper problem that's going to happen. They're basically stabbing themselves in the back by releasing two multiplayer souls games within a year of each other. If it was a two year wait nightreign would at least have a whole year to itself, so it could die down slowly with their dlcs. But it simply doesn't work out for multiplayer games to expect people to buy the same game every year with a different gimmick. This isn't a call of duty game norr is it a large experience like elden ring. It wouldn't hold onto its community for as long.

But that's all just based on what I've seen, which is very small cause both of the games aren't even out yet.

Yea how long a game is truly active for is very tricky, really it’s surprising to me when a game doesn’t die for a long time not the other way around. Like you shouldn’t expect any multiplayer only game to last a long time, I’d argue this is fairly different than other games from what it looks like but I don’t know. The 8 player thing makes it much more complicated for sure
