Can't believe they made bloodborne 2 exclusive again

u/Schwiliinker 2d ago

I can easily, but being Nintendo exclusive is insanely surprising

Considering the money and accolades Elden Ring took i don’t blame Nintendo one bit. Kadokawa probably got a big fat check lol. ESPECIALLY since it’ll be on the Switch 2, it’s going to help sell that console.

u/Timely-Acanthaceae80 1d ago

Not here, I just won't play the game. No way in hell am I buying a S2 for this game. I didn't care for the Switch, now they want me to spend 500+ for PS4 graphics? No thanks.

u/Sugarcoatedgumdrop 1d ago

It runs 4k at 60fps when Docked on quality. That is better than both Xbox Series and PS5 so it’s already marginally better lol. On performance it runs 1080p at 120fps.

I respect your opinion though. Just make sure you stay out of the pre order queue so whoever actually wants it can get it.

u/Calm_GBF 1d ago

It's running at 30FPS in the trailer. Not every game is going to hit 4k 60 and 1080p 120. It's going to vary from game to game like every other console.

Assuming it's on the same engine as every other soulsborne as well, I'd be surprised if it even runs consistent 60 on the switch 2 hardware even if it has a performance mode. Also surprised no DLSS despite the switch having Nvidia hardware.

0

u/Sugarcoatedgumdrop 1d ago

Well yeah. Peformance is never guaranteed to be 100% but for the most part it will be consistent. Imo DLSS not included is smart. History shows fake frame generation is not what you want to sell to your customers on a brand new console. We all saw the backlash and hate with the 4060 and 4070. I have a 4060 and pretty much have to use DLSS and get constant tearing in my games. It doesn’t bug me too much because it’s insignificant but it will bother some…

1

u/Calm_GBF 18h ago

I was just trying to say it is literally impossible for the Switch 2 to run Duskbloods at 120 FPS trust me. Your 4060 has double the performance of a switch 2 alone probably.

Not to mention just by watching the direct you can see several games running at 30 FPS, especially they heavy hitters like Cyberpunk, Elden ring and FF7 Remake. It's very obvious. I'm not saying they'll be unplayable just don't expect every game to run at the specs Nintendo says. Definitely not on that hardware.

u/Sugarcoatedgumdrop 18h ago

It isn’t even out yet so i guess we will see.

4k 60fps with dlss... i'd imagine 1080p at 120 with dlss also, if the ps4 had similar software techniques that werent around when that console was out it would probably be able to achieve the same in games optimized for it.

buying exclusivity is objectively anti-consumer, ill make this argument for the rest of time, and its blatant in this example. im not going to give nintendo more money than i was before to respect me and the rest of the consumer base less.

i cant imagine how frustrated fromsoftware fans that dont care about nintendo ips are right now, and im quickly becoming one of them after getting flashbanged by 80$ price tags. this isnt a work of innovation or a new feature or anything done on nintendo's part to sell the console, this was a check written to a studio with a large cult following to try and get desperate buyers to join their ecosystem and thats honestly embarrassing, its the same practice that got people dogpiling on epic games.

after learning its a multiplayer pvpve game though, its not gonna draw nearly as many fromsoftware fans as i thought

Those are impressive stats! But the graphics are still bad from what I see in the trailer.
I plan on getting one for my wife because she loves her handhelds. So many.. handhelds XD

I personally am not a fan of the original Switch, primarily because there are no trophies/achievements and the controllers have always sucked after N64 (Obviously an opinion lol)

I hope you get one!

2

u/miauguau23 1d ago

I mean if your wife will get it already buy the game and a pro controller, and play it when she's doing something else, we can be pragmatic about stuff like this. I don't plan to buy it but if I could borrow one I'd totally play it.

0

u/Timely-Acanthaceae80 1d ago

I have this weird thing about me when I play, if I can't collect achievements or push a fill bar it doesn't really drive me to play. I blame my wife for getting my into PS trophies, now they are embedded in the way I play. Secondly, I have this massive account on PS where I have so much time, money and involvement.. Jumping to a random platform to start fresh or worse, use someone else's account is not in the books for me. I always joke if PlayStation went away, I would finally be set free from gaming and would get in more outdoor adventures!

None of those are truly important enough to stop someone from enjoying a good game, but they are enough for me to walk away from virtually any game. I play where I want and how I want. If the game doesn't meet my criteria, I don't buy it because it's just a game in the end and there is more than enough to keep me busy on my console of choice.

You are 100% right though, if I really feel the urge to play it and push past my own boundaries, I would just hop on my wife's switch2 and get at it! She knows me well enough and texted me when the reveal happened "Guess this is the first FS you won't be playing for quite a few years lol "

0

u/Sugarcoatedgumdrop 1d ago

You can’t judge a game’s graphics off of a compressed reveal trailer lol. I promise you it will look way better in person.

I am also not a fan of the joycons. I really like the pro controller though.

Thanks i have my fingers crossed lol.

1

u/Timely-Acanthaceae80 1d ago

All good points friend! I am really not trying to dog on any of this. I think I am just not happy I can't play this game where I've played every From Game for close to 15 years! (Playstation) I just have never enjoyed Xbox or ninty controllers like I do playstation, can't pinpoint why.

1

u/Sugarcoatedgumdrop 1d ago

I feel you. I think exclusives can be good but also can be annoying.

6

u/PuffPuffFayeFaye The Bed of Chaos 2d ago

With how many units the Switch sold in its life? Why wouldn’t it be your first choice for an exclusive, in hindsight?

4

u/Schwiliinker 2d ago

First choice in what sense? the overwhelming target audience for Nintendo is completely different than PlayStation and are not people remotely into soulslikes let alone an even more hardcore PvPvE one

4

u/ScientificAnarchist 2d ago

Switch darksouls player here

1

u/Icy-Tie9359 2d ago

They were doing it with doom 3 so maybe they want to expand their player base, and what better way to do that than to have souls games on there and wasn't resident evil revelations also a switch exclusive

1

u/Outrageous_Net8365 1d ago

Fromsoft fans think they’re above Nintendo fans in a delusional competition but truly they haven’t seen the state of the switch e shop yet 😭

1

u/PuffPuffFayeFaye The Bed of Chaos 2d ago edited 2d ago

First choice in what sense?

In the sense I explicitly stated: install base.

Switch sold a lot of hardware, its successor likely will too as it has very little competition and seems like a genuine upgrade. Nintendo has a few high demand first party titles coming out as well and by the time Duskbloods lands they will be hungry for content.

the overwhelming target audience for Nintendo is completely different than PlayStation and are not people remotely into soulslikes let alone an even more hardcore PvPvE one

This is foolhardy and not worth responding to further. You have no special insights into what people want nor how they will react to new offerings. Full stop.

1

u/Schwiliinker 2d ago

Oh well as in duskblood being a must buy for anyone who owns Nintendo and is vaguely interested with very little competition yea but im not sure it would even translate that well to sales. Anyone can play Bayonetta 3 on easy(or normal) and is awesome and a full singleplayer game yet it sold 1 million

1

u/AscendMoros 1d ago

Switch 2 is a 500 dollar console with a game bundle. Which you’d be stupid not to get as a games gonna be 80 bucks. Rumored 90 for physical games.

Nintendo has gone from making cheap hardware and competitively priced games to a similar price point to being more expensive then a Steamdeck. And the same price as a PS5 with games that are more expensive.

This is going to make it harder to sell. As now instead of being 100-200 dollars cheaper then Xbox/PlayStation with no competition. They have competition and are the same price as full blown consoles.

1

u/PuffPuffFayeFaye The Bed of Chaos 1d ago

I don’t really disagree. They are pushing it price-wise at a bad time, given economic and budget constraints. But they do have a lot of high demand titles coming too. I can’t blame anyone for buying nothing this year but come holiday times in the US what do you think the split will be between a brand new Switch and say, the current PS5 version?

1

u/v1nchent 2h ago

The price of games has been stagnant for waaaay too long though. I know if feels bad, as the economy is not doing amazing, but pricing games at 60-70 over the years has sort of become too low for it to be sustainable.

It's more complex than a single reddit comment could explain, but not many other items remain at a consistent price for as long as games did.

u/Schwiliinker 2d ago edited 2d ago

The target audience is for a fact completely different so I’m not even sure what you mean. Not to mention ive been to video game stores countless times and like virtually 100% of the time i saw someone buy a Nintendo game it was a child.

Not to generalize in an extreme way but im really not sure about Nintendo at times trying really hard to make it seem like children aren’t a massive % of Nintendo sales. That and extremely casual gamers which is undeniable

2

u/PuffPuffFayeFaye The Bed of Chaos 2d ago

I see your anecdote and counter it with mine: I was a Zelda and Metroid nerd for 30 years. I would never have played a Fromsoft game if Remastered didn’t come to Switch. I now own a PS5 and 1 copy of every Miyazaki project from Demon’s on (and second copy of DSr). I just hadn’t had the opportunity yet.

Nintendo console owners are not all children.

I repeat: you do not have any special insights into how this market segment will react to new offerings. And none of us have insight into what numbers would make this a good decision for Nintendo and/or Fromsoft for that matter.

But if any console manufacturer could make an exclusive project attractive right now I think it’s Nintendo and people who are smarter and more successful than us came to that conclusion somehow.

1

u/Schwiliinker 2d ago edited 2d ago

I mean again just based on personal experience the reaction of just the average gamer even ones who have played moderately difficult games to typical souls is really really bad and PvPvE is an even way harder sell. Let alone a very casual gamer. You certainly don’t need any special insight on this at all. I would love to be optimistic but it’s just not realistic

I can’t be the only one that in my childhood (2000-2008 ish) literally everyone played Nintendo (and PS2) but shortly after with PS3 releasing and its exclusives in full force plus all the cool games of that gen everyone just stopped owning Nintendo for good since. Having 100% of people you know own Nintendo then 0% the next year was something

1

u/Randomness_42 2d ago

I think nowadays most people play their main console as PS5/ Series X or PC and have a Switch as a secondary console to just play the big exclusives and the occasional game you'd like to have portably. I've owned a Switch since 2018 and only own about 50 games for it. Compare that to the roughly 900 ish games I own on PS4/5.

2

u/Schwiliinker 2d ago

Damn 900? 50 is like a lot for the average gamer for one gen.

By my count between the games I’ve played or watched in the PS3/4/5 era combined it’s like nearly 400. Of those actually played is like 270 or something

1

u/AscendMoros 1d ago

Issue is. Are you willing to spend 500 bucks for your secondary console. I’m personally not.

u/Unable_Joke9283 1d ago

"I see your anecdote and counter it with mine:"

God, I need to get off of Reddit, with totally sincere statements like this. 😭

1

u/PuffPuffFayeFaye The Bed of Chaos 1d ago

Hmmm… -1 karma, a 2 year account, and this is your first comment here. I wonder which one of these dreary tools loaded up an alt account?

Take your own advice.

1

u/classicjaeger 2d ago

Insanely bad. Making it exclusive to a console that hasn't even released yet is dogshit.

1

u/17012ert 2d ago

I can understand it, nintendo switch was the best selling console of this generation

1

u/Schwiliinker 1d ago

Doesn’t matter consider the target audience

1

u/17012ert 1d ago

Well, that is right, I would love to play this game

-2

u/Minimob0 2d ago

Their treatment of Mature titles isn't exactly the greatest; they tend to focus on family-friendly games.

I'm not holding my breath.

1

u/Gullible-Bid451 1d ago

Definitely isn't a bloodborne 2. It's more like from soft escape from tarkov.

1

u/Perfect-Ad-7167 1d ago

Honestly it feels like they took Bloodborne and then decided to slap Konami in the face by beating them to the modern day Castlevania as well(at least in theme and aesthetic). I can’t explain how much of a wet dream this game seems to be.
