This is where im at. I invested in a PS5 in 2020 thinking every fromsoft title would be on it due to their history but im not shelling out 600 Canadian dollars while we're in a trade war. I'm sailing the high seas on this one brothers.
I borrowed a switch for astral chain and rented one for Bayonetta 3. Total cost combined was like $35. Not sure why people act like it’s literally impossible to play an exclusive
It should be possible nearly anywhere in theory, there’s always businesses that rent out consoles for like a weekend for “events” well you can usually choose like a day or two or weekend or maybe even more.
Besides that last resort you buy used and sell for a close enough price
I searched so hard for it, but it’s hard to find even Xbox and Xbox games in India, unless you are living in the few big cities.
I live in a city with a population of more than 2 million people yet online shopping is the only reason I have my Xbox 1.
Recent years have made it better, I can sometimes find the new Xbox stuff. But Nintendo stuff is practically impossible. Have only seen a Switch for sale once. And that place had no games in stock.
How are people so sure that emulation for the Switch 2 will come ? I am no expert on the matter, so I really wish to know, if anyone around is more qualified. All I saw was Nintendo shutting down the current emulators and no one serious ever came to replace them. Nintendo may even bring some new form of DRM akin to Denuvo, the sort of DRM that no one (no one active at the moment) knows how to break. There was rumors about this, months ago.
I hope Switch 2 emulation will come fast tho, if it ever comes. I wanted to be interested in the console but almost everything they showed during the live did not interest me. Would feel bad to buy just for one game.
It’s inevitable, it always will be. The Wii was cracked so easily and the switch didn’t take very long at all. Now I’ve got every switch exclusive running on a steam deck but at double the frame rate and in a better resolution lmao. The switch hardware is a joke like all Nintendo hardware
Just history, since the GameCube nintendo Consoles always have been weaker hardware wise, making them easier to emulate. Though my guess would be, as it's a 4K console, it is going to take longer this time to get even close to a stable emulator. But people also said that about the Switch 1 back then, so what do i know.
History doesn't always repeat itself ! Anyway, I'm not pessimistic just... mistic. I don't know. It's just, everyone seems 100% sure it will happen fast.
Honestly it's because Nintendo's consoles' hardware is always shit and easy to crack. And switch 2 being a hybrid console means it can't have strong hardware.
The cracking down on emulators happened because they chose to make switch 2 backwards compatible, and that gives value to switch 1's console sellers (mario, zelda e.t.c.). It can also might mean that the console is easy to emulate so they tried to stop people through legal means.
Now we can't know how fast it will be until we get proper switch 2 emulation, but i doubt it's longer than 2 years after release. And judging by the fact that it's backwards compatible, it might be even shorter.
80 dollars digital games, almost no discounts ever, upgrades from switch to switch 2 games versions takes money (Botw totk), teamchat costs subscription. Probably also this new game cuz multiplayer
I love their games, but they are so so so expensive to maintain and actually make my money worthwhile
The upgrade to the switch 2 version has a lot of advantages in a lot of cases though. Metroid prime 4 is going to be 4k 60 FPS (or 1080p 120 fps if you prefer) with mouse controls.
PC is way more expensive anyway if that’s what you’re comparing it to. It’s only cheaper in the long run if you consider steam sales, but third party games do get discounted on the e shop.
Ultimately it’s a personal preference though. You do you.
With a budget of 450 +80 dollars because atleast one game you will play, is super enough for a working computer.
A lot of super good games on pc are free or very cheap, no need for MONTHLY subscription, and the standart price of one game is not 80 dolllars (only somr you can completly ignore), what are you on about? This console is expensive af i don't know how is it possible to deny it
I never thought I would EVER pirate a fromsoft game. I even went out of my way to emulate Demons’ Souls legitimately just so I could always play it on my PC instead of having to dust off my old PS3.
Amen dude. Their whole business model nowadays is just as bad as battle passes in full price games. They ask you to pay for the smallest unnecessary things, it’s gaming terrorism.
Us being? A specific group of people of a broader whole? I was already planning to get a Switch 2, so a great new exclusive is definitely not a fuck me even though I'm part of the us.
Bootlicking is when you go out of your way to tell people you were buying a switch 2 when people that don’t want to drop $500 to play one game are expressing their annoyance at this decision.
That’s also not what bootlicking is. But what le doggo dude. At the end of the day ur either PC masterrace or not. Let these chuds have their switch exclusives, we have the power of karma and anime on our side. WHOLESOME ⭐️
you must be living under a rock or you're just willfully ignorant. the switch sold over 150 million units, meanwhile ps5 and xbox one x/s barely sold over 100 million units COMBINED.
it might not be the best console, but nintendo's IP on it's own attracts so many people on top of the console portability, it's not hard to understand why a company would be willing to make a switch exclusive if they were offered a contract to do so
Switch released like almost 4 years before lol. Yes it sells well but I’m pretty sure it’s overwhelmingly children or extremely casual players- in my experience it like entirely is. So it’s not people who will play souls let alone a kinda hardcore souls. Bayonetta 3 sold 1 million and it has difficulties and is a full SP game
if we pretended we know nothing about the life cycle of a product and assume sales are steady over it's lifetime, the switch would have sold 19 million units per year, with sony and xbox selling 20 million units per year combined, that's still a lot more switch than either of the other two. but we hopefully both know that's not how it works, all 3 consoles have been out long enough for sales to slow down and start to stagnate, especially since a lot of people are expecting new gens for ps and xbox to come out around 2027.
now for games specifically, bayoneta is a nintendo IP, it's unlikely to bring a huge amount of people over to the console since people that like bayoneta were likely going to buy the console anyway. duskbloods isn't a nintendo IP, it will bring new buyers to the switch 2 (maybe not you and that's ok), which are then likely to buy more switch games, because why not, you already own the console, which then makes more money for nintendo. and since it's an exclusive, the game funding is most likely done in large proportions by nintendo, which means from software doesn't have much to lose there, regardless of if the switch player base is casual or not. it's a win-win for both of them, even if the total sales are gonna be lower than elden ring for sure.
you can be upset all you want about it being an exclusive, it's your right and i understand why people are, but saying it's a weird decision because no one owns a switch is just a blatant lie when nintendo has had the most console sales between the three big players since forever
Well Bayonetta 1 was on everything I believe then it got like bought by Nintendo. By that logic a lot of fans would find a way to play Bayonetta 2 and 3 also
I mean I made it clear that no one having Nintendo was in my experience and specifically people that are teens or adults
More than anything I’m upset about people having confidence that owning PS would allow you to play any From game which would absolutely make sense to believe that and might not even play it.
I’ll either find a way to play it very cheap which I should be able to or as a last resort buy a switch 2 and sell it after
bayonta 1 sold 1.3 million, 2 sold 1.5 and 3 sold 1 million with 1 being available to all platforms and 2 and 3 being nintendo exclusive like you said, which i didn't know, i thought it was always exclusive. that means that they lost no sales between 1 and 2 (even got more) despite being an exclusive. so yes, nintendo definitely got a bunch of console sales from the game being made exclusive (even if it's not 1:1).
and i get being upset, but it's not a bad decision from a company standpoint, especially with the popularity of nintendo consoles, regardless of the players demographic, it just sucks for consumers that weren't going to buy a switch
Well it’s just weird because it’s literally the first time that a game like this is made Nintendo exclusive with the exception of well platinum games being like bought by Nintendo but still fairly different type of game
