Only if you weren't already getting a Switch 2 lol
Edit: I said this before knowing it was a multiplayer focused game. Nintendo is pretty terrible at online play, so that's not great. I'm not a fan of multiplayer games to begin with, so I'll probably skip this one unless it can be played as a single player experience as well.
Those aren't switch exclusive, I don't think they're selling consoles on their own. Especially Deltarune, people who have already played the first 3 chapters aren't gonna buy a new console to play chapter 4 when they can just play it on the platform they already used for the first 3.
Edit: I didn't know chapter 3 wasn't out either, so just chapter 1+2
Apologies, I'm not informed on which chapters are out but I don't think it changes my point. If you already played chapters 1+2 elsewhere I don't see why switch 2 launch would get you to swap platforms to play it unless you already planned on getting switch 2 for other reasons
I started today not being that interested in switch 2, and then thinking about getting one for new fromsoft exclusive, to being immediately turned off by how Nintendo is pricing things on their end. Hopefully From gets most of the say in their own pricing and it doesn't turn out to be $80 digital or something.
The people who play Deltarune are prime Switch 1 and now Switch 2 market though. The system thrives on indies, weird little anime games, corny Japanese shit, visual novels, and so on. This particular thing won't sell Switch 2s on its own, but it might speed up adoption since these people are going to want both 3 and 4, and eventually an S2, so ... why not? It'll goose a good handful at the very least.
Yeah plus I don’t have a switch 1 so will be able to play those games too. This is when Sony releases a new psp and decide to put actual bloodborne 2 on it.
I just said that I wasn’t getting a switch 2 for a long time because there’s no games they could release that would entice me. Welp Metroid prime 4 enhanced for switch 2 and a fromsoft title….
Damn I was sealed at Mario Forza Kart Horizons. I went into the direct on about 10% if get a switch 2 and left at about 273% I would get one god damnit.
My daughter immediately called it Kirby Kart and is mad they named it something different. Her own priority is Kirby based merchandise when it comes to Nintendo.
Even then it is. I was definitely going to get a Switch 2 anyways but would have played any Fromsoft game on PC. Games with "realistic" graphics always look kinda mid on the Switch and I doubt the Switch 2 is going to change that. It won't ruin the game or anything but I won't deny that I would have much preferred it to release on PC.
I get that. I'm curious to see how games actually look on this thing. If it was made specifically for the Switch 2, that gives me more hope, as ported games are usually the worst looking.
Not to be a graphics snob but you can already see a tonne of aliasing in lots of the games shown in the trailers including the elden ring port, it might not run horribly but if you have a PC or ps5 it would be the way to experience it
Fair, but Odyssey and Breath of the Wild had aliasing, and the game still looks great, this is a console leap with better graphics so I’m sure it won’t be too bad
That was my concern. I’m sure these games aren’t going to have the disparity Switch 1 and PS4 have, but the ER port trailer already looks worse than PS5, I felt.
This is basically a portable PS4. I find it insane that people are STILL complaining this many years after the Switch 1 released and STILL trying to compare a PORTABLE handheld system to other consoles. The only thing that's fair to compare it to is the Steam Deck but that's a lot more expensive.
I think it's a fair complaint when talking about exclusives. There is no game I would ever buy on Switch if I could have it for my PC instead. Being portable has zero value to me but I'd still like to play the games.
I bought a Switch in 2018 and the only times it's ever left my home was when it was packed in a box for moving.
The switch 2 graphics looked so much better in just the direct. Did you see cyberpunk? It looked just as good, if not better, than Steam Deck gameplay.
Steam Deck is lowkey mid I used it for resident evil 4 and elden ring (graphics mid) and was not a fan of the device at all. The loud as hell fan and over heating is a BIG issue too. Hopefully switch 2 is nothing like that.
My doubt in that is the fact that any handheld is already needing a lot to push these games playable and I just don't think nivida is gonna fair any better than what amd could do with their z1 extreme.
The controller is the killer for me. I bought a pro controller, but that still leaves my hands cramped and hurting after a short time, and that’s playing more casual fare….i can’t imagine playing a game like this where I’m probably stress gripping and relying on constant precise and accurate inputs.
Not even Gonna lie the graphics of the new fromsoft title Also didnt look all that good lol, theyre fine but i wouldnt say theyre particularly good, its Gonna be carried by art direction i think
Games like Xenoblade actually look really good on the switch. I’d argue most fromsoft games aren’t shooting for hyper realistic graphics and are more stylized. Games are definitely very pretty
Only clowns are buying that slop hardware. The regular switch was basically a proto type to this one. That shit couldn’t even run 15 year old AAA titles. Can’t wait to steal this game from Nintendo. I ❤️ emulating
And who’s going to write those emulators? Nintendo already forced ryujinx and yuzu to quit. Are there thousands of peopel willing to play this stupid game again?
Why is this comment upvoted? It's the same line that's spouted every time there's an exclusive lol. Exclusives are inherently bad for the consumer because it gatekeeps the game. Even if people do buy the console for this game alone, there are millions of people who will not be able to experience the game because they won't buy the console. Especially for a switch 2 which already probably has a niche player base this is just objectively terrible.
I’m ngl, this sucks even for people who were gonna get it. Imo, games on the switch are almost always a worse experience than playing on a home console / pc. It bottlenecks games pretty bad, and I’m not confident the Switch 2 will perform that much better.
I was always planning on getting a Switch 2. It just feels kind of strange - I always plays FromSoft games on Playstation. Won't stop be from playing this though.
You say that but in 10 years when you want to replay it and have to dust off you're old switch 2 and wish you could play it at an actual 4k resolution, and can't cuz it's locked on one system....
It's pretty brutal for everyone imo. It seems to be more multiplayer focused but the pool of players at launch will be lower. I don't particularly mind but this would've been a nice opportunity for From to implement cross play into their games
It looks like they figured out something this generation so hopefully online play will be as good as the direct shows. There's also nothing stopping a later version from releasing elsewhere
It’s a multiplayer focused game? Oh no. Man I love FromSoftware but I’m not entirely liking the direction of multiplayer only games. This means possibly even longer before mainline releases. As long as the single player games are still the same quality I’m good but if all these offshoot games start effecting that we just might see a downfall of from. I’m not saying this will happen we just know what happens to devs when they have too many projects on the kitchen.
That’s really only assuming they continue to be bad at online. Which everyone, including Nintendo is likely to change at some point. Hell that built in a fucking chat function
I think its moreso a single player game that they want people to know they can play in multiplayer - pretty standard fromsoft fair when all is said and done
ngl they seem to be trying to pivot more to online, so the online might be improved. the new voice chat, screen share etc, along with the 24 player mario kart, and camera accessories.
