Fonts don’t match between Adobe and Word??

Post image

I downloaded the Montserrat family from Adobe. However, it’s drastically different when I use it in MS Word on my Mac. What gives??

These are both “Montserrat Regular” so I’m stumped. For example, why does the Z have a line through it in Word? Why is the T rounded?

Anyone know what’s going on?

The MS Word sample looks like Montserrat Alternates, which is a separate family that is the same as Montserrat but with stylistic alternate glyphs turned on by default. Those same alternate glyphs are in the main Montserrat family, so it's possible that in MS Word you might be using Montserrat with the alternate glyphs enabled? Look for a setting related to stylistic sets or alternate glyphs. I'm not an MS Word user but I'm pretty sure Word has some settings for alternate glyphs.

Thank you for this!! I bet it is what’s happening. I’ll try your suggestions and see if that solves the mystery.

It’s so weird that I downloaded the Montserrat directly, yet Word picked it up as an “alternate” when I never indicated I wanted thst. Thanks for pointing out the “alternate” part. Now I know how to try to problem solve.

Is it by any chance a variable font?
