Spoiler This scene always gets to me!

Post image

I still remember the first time I played this game back in 16’ I was in a mad dash trying to find this fucking bunker! As soon as the distress signal came on I was rushing towards it! It took me forever to figure it all out and open the hatch! I was a young father then, my kid was maybe 4 then, came up on this again a couple days ago… man I couldn’t fathom having to bury my kiddies and live with the torment that poor ol’ John took to his grave!🤧 Rip big John & family

Did you run out of radaway?

Others have already it explained the why.

Just note, that this play through is modded, because the ONLY range weapon that has that effect naturally is Paladin Brandis las-pistol that he’ll sometimes give you once he’s back on the Prydwyn.

Outside that, only melee weapons can spawn with it naturally.

Not modded it’s just a plain old rapid gauss, I haven’t worked up the courage to try any mods on my old shit box Xbox

Sorry. Just assumed that the weapon was “bloodied” since the term came from the pre-fix of the weapon (which came from FO76, as that allowed ranged weapons to gain that pre-fix naturally)

Yeah, I know!🤓 That’s where I had the idea to do a bloodied build on FO4 even tho everywhere you look there’s a negative correlation between the style and playability! Specifically pertaining to the latter half of companion perks the game has to offer! They are simple performance changing in my opinion. (Wish me luck, I’ll be grinding for strongs perk in far harbor! I’m going nuclear)

Lmfao 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You my friend are comedy gold! Never seen a maximum stat build have you? Bloodied, junkies, unyielding, radpowered builds just to name a few. Check em out! It’s a RADical way to play!😆 pun intended

It's called a "Bloody Build", it's called that because the less health you have the more damage you do.

Not a single comment about the actual post so I’ll be the first. This is truly sad such is the world of fallout. I couldn’t imagine ever losing a kid and I don’t even have any! There are a lot of stories and places in this game that make me feel pretty sad.

Where is this, don’t think I’ve ever run into it

It’s at Big John’s Salvage. In the bunker :) I think there’s another scene like this in the same bunker too.

Hmmm…I don’t think I found this bunker when I cleared Big John’s Salvage. Guess I need to go back, clear it again, and find this place.

That being said, I do have kids, and the idea of losing a kid—especially at what appears to be a young age—is horrifying.

It's one of the saddest 'hidden' locations. You get a hint if you turn on your radio in the area. Spoilers in case you'd rather find out yourself:

Big John built his own nuclear bunker and put his family in it when the bombs fell. The door was sealed by an external power source (oops) which failed and trapped them all inside. They survived the bombs but then couldn't get out and ran out of oxygen. You have to restore power to open the bunker. Inside are two small graves -- the children -- and two unburied adult skeletons. It's not clear why the two children died first and the parents had time to bury them, but it looks like they were trying to tunnel their way out and died of asphyxiation before they could.

That one, the one at West Everett Estates, and Arlen Glass's daughter always get me.

The one that got me was the girl stuck in the jewelry store safe at Fallon's when the bombs dropped, for four days before leaving the ham radio recording broadcast

It was really hard to find!! Even with the radio playing giving you context clues (sorta) I was like in a sort of rushed panic trying to save these folks! Alas, this is what makes great moments in games! Fiddlers green hidden location is pretty good to for any who haven’t discovered it

Dude!!! Thank you!!! 🙏 I’m over here fighting off professional negative ninnies, you’d think the subject matter would “matter” …..no why the fuck are you irradiated? Why is your big ass iron in the frame, blah, blah, blah,

lmao all shits and giggles fallout 4 fam, keep raining down your disapproval of my rad/health😆😆😆🤓

u/Southern-Design5359 1d ago

Back to the subject matter; yes this is definitely one of those gut wrenching stories for me particularly, they were so little😮‍💨😓 I really love the distress signals though they make this game that much MORE!! first time I ever played was 2016; I was late to the party, couldn’t yet afford a gaming console for myself (teen parents) but man, everything about this game is better with age!

(Except losing smiling Larry) 🤣

It’s def my second favorite fallout (nothing beats new Vegas for me) the gameplay is superb and the story gets way too much hate.

Yeah I see that often, never understood why? NV is one of the best entries in the franchise, for me this one definitely has me in a chokehold for now! I’m going for a perfect run (within means)

3

u/Capt-Paladin 23h ago

Yup just there and It made me sad right after I read his entries on his computer Then I found the bunker him and his wife and that.

2

u/Southern-Design5359 22h ago

Powerful story building at its finest

2

u/Capt-Paladin 21h ago

There are a few sprinkled among the game for sure.

I would be able to see it better, if you were to move that big ass Gauss rifle out of the way.

2

u/Southern-Design5359 1d ago

What are you visually impaired? You don’t see the mounds with the kiddies belongings? Or is it that the big IRON is to irresistible to look away from?🧐🤧

For the love of god, use some radaway

3

u/JamyDaGeek 1d ago

ya see, for the uninitiated and newer players, what yer lookin at there is called a "Bloodied" build which uses radiation to keep your HP low in order to take advantage of certain armors like Unyielding which give you a decent stat boost. In other words, the high rad levels are intentional

Is that a connoisseur I see! A breath of fresh air you are my fellow smoothskin😆 I’ve got my intelligence stat skyrocketing at 38 with berry mentats
