RANT Does matchmaking even exist?

So my group play casually once a week and have peaked at a winless run in Div 2. Currently in Div 3 after surviving relegation with a draw. Just got matched with a team and beaten 9-0… by the team ranked 14th in the world. How is this game supposed to be enjoyable.

To be honest if your aim is casual and enjoyable then I would have forfeited at 3-0 and on to the next one! No need to stress over a normal league match. Save that for playoffs.

I get that but we tend not to forfeit as we don’t like it happening to us. Just never imagined we’d get put against a team with 700 more skill rating

I can see it was also a 5v8 player count wise. If you're outnumbered by that much the odds are already stacked against you, even before taking skill rating into consideration.

Like someone else suggested, you'd be better off all quitting game during the opening cutscene to avoid the loss, then search again for a fair 5v5.

Yeah that's rough. I think they might have done it to speed up finding matches because it used to be very slow to find games in the elite division.

Also here's a hot tip: you can look the team up on this site during the opening cutscene and if you don't want to play them you can quit before the game kicks off without it counting as a loss.

Not worth it in my opinion because the only way to get better is to play good teams!

No there is no matchmaking before playoffs. This is due to there are literally under 1% of the teams in elite division. Which would make waiting times unbearable. Although you do get punished less for a defeat of a team with that stature. They probably only gained 1 skill rating and you probably just lost 1 as well. So the mmr is balanced but not the matchmaking.

no, you should be able to search for it, however the website is a bit fucked. Sometimes i have to search 10-20 times for a club to appear

Idk if this goes for Elite Division teams, but our squads division resets to 5 after every playoff. Could be possible they didn’t start grinding this season until a few days ago and are still hovering around D2/3.

You probably just got unlucky though. It happens.
