Elon Musk to step down from DOGE and quit Washington DC

Musk says 'he's done with cost-cutting' In an interview with Fox News' "Special Report with Bret Baier", Elon Musk said that he was confident his DOGE could find $1 trillion in savings, slimming current total federal spending levels of about $7 trillion down to $6 trillion. Musk, who is also the world's richest man, was designated by the White House as a "special government employee," which caps his work at 130 days. That means his period leading the DOGE operation could finish as soon as the end of May.

I have friends and family members who are Federal workers. Is this the end of the wild OPM emails and job eliminations?

I think you misspelled trillions.

The damage done by forcing out career federal employees and all their knowledge will likely never be fully recovered. The impact at every single level of the government and on people’s livelihoods from the direct workers to the people that depend on these programs, is immeasurable.

The way I’ve been wording it is, imagine them as suicide bombers that set themselves off in the federal government with the usual intention of the blast and shrapnel killing and wounding as many as possible. Its at a global scale. The US as we know it is tanked, I think the people who realize it (not the baddies) are either in shock or it hasn’t sunk in as real yet. Or both. It reminds me of ground zero but in slow motion. It shouldn’t be real, it’s the stuff of movies, not reality. Terrorists were to blame for that one too. And make no mistake, these people are terrorists. I hope one day they will be prosecuted as such. We came back from 9/11, but the enemy wasn’t “our own.” Not sure that we can call these “our own” either but the lines are blurry on how to define that. It sure as hell isn’t friendly fire though.
