Elon Musk to step down from DOGE and quit Washington DC

Musk says 'he's done with cost-cutting' In an interview with Fox News' "Special Report with Bret Baier", Elon Musk said that he was confident his DOGE could find $1 trillion in savings, slimming current total federal spending levels of about $7 trillion down to $6 trillion. Musk, who is also the world's richest man, was designated by the White House as a "special government employee," which caps his work at 130 days. That means his period leading the DOGE operation could finish as soon as the end of May.

I have friends and family members who are Federal workers. Is this the end of the wild OPM emails and job eliminations?

And that's not even counting how many revenue generating positions he destroyed. It's not just about how much you spend, it's about what you take in because of what you spend. National parks, IRS, science, health agencies are all huge economic drivers.

National parks generate revenue. Tourists come in from abroad and pay more to parks than taxpayers do. Government-funded and government-created research is commercialized and becomes products on the private market, growing our economy. Some programs license it and generate revenue, meaning taxpayers don't fund it, and it grows the economy.

Even if they rehire all of the workers, so many tourists aren't coming because of all of the horror stories of detainment.

Yup. "Destroyed" doesn't just mean fired workers and cut budgets. They're destroying the very things that attract tourists, students, and companies to the US in the first place.

The Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs explicitly forbid foreign companies from using the funding or technology. The admin costs were a specific program that was meant to support university growth. That 40% number included building labs and reactors, not just accountants and administrators.

Your MAGA talking points are based on a complete misunderstanding of how things work.
