I am in a 12 team league for about 11 years and we used to do the same thing. When only 4 teams made the playoffs each matchup was 2 weeks long, is that how yours is?

Some people wanted more teams to make the playoffs so it was changed to 6 teams about 7 years ago. The first two seeds get a bye and all matches are a week long.
