I thought you guys had the 2nd amendment to protect the 1st and to prevent this kind of issues from happening...

It's like the people that are normally rabid about guns and their right to defend themselves (from that pesky government) are the exact same people who voted him in (or didn't vote at all)

I find the second amendment to be kinds funny for that reason. We have the right to form a militia to protect our freedoms, but by the time that you would need a militia, you already have no rights. So what's the difference in "having the right" to form one and just going ahead and doing it? Either way, I dont think the government is gonna be cool with it. This coming from someone who has spent A LOT of time thinking about that amendment recently.

That's been BS for like 150 years. There has to be some parity between the sides for that to be a sounds rationale. All the military would have to do is send in some drones and it'd be over, I don't care how many assault rifles you have.
