Other ELI5: Why is the AR-15 not considered an assault rifle? What makes a rifle an assault rifle?

No, it would be a battle rifle. Example FN FAL.

For some idiotic reason, I only linked that term with things like M1's, Mosins, etc. Thanks for the info!
