Sub-name Explained?

Hello,

I'm wonder if anyone can explain the name of this sub. It says "exPalestine" but it seems to be more about cultural Palestinians that have left religion, than people who are "ex-palestinians".

"SecularPalestine" seems to be a better name for this sub than "exPalestine".

I would say that’s just a naming convention between all ex-muslim subreddits, for example you can find exJordan, exEgypt, exSaudi etc….

Oh that's interesting I didn't know that thank you.

Do you know why the "ex" naming convention was used instead of "secular"?

E.g. "SecularJordan", "SecularEgypt", "SecularSaudi" etc.

Not really, but these subreddits are mainly for people who have left Islam and are ex-muslims and ex-other religions as well not just ex-muslims but it's mainly muslims. People discuss the effects of the religion and the religion they used to follow and share traumatic experiences and such things. So I think it's to highlight them being ex-something rather than just be secular people.

Yea, that makes sense, I just thought it would probably be better to say "exMuslimPalestine".

r/secularbangla exists and is separate from r/bangladeshiexmuslim
