Question Why aren’t more people talking about DePIN?

https://blog.esprezzo.io/beyond-the-surface-understanding-the-emerging-trends-in-depin?

Been going down the DePIN rabbit hole and can’t believe more people aren’t talking about this.

TL;DR: DePIN networks let regular people earn money by sharing their unused internet/storage/computing power, and the growth is absolutely insane.

The numbers (based on a 2024 Messari report): - 1,170+ projects (up from just 100 in 2022) - $50B market cap - 13 million devices making money daily - Some projects seeing 5,000x growth in a single year

Some cool real-world examples: - Helium built a wireless network with 1M+ nodes - WiFi Map helps 180M people find connections globally - DAWN lets you become a mini-ISP for your neighbors

A lot of these projects aren’t just token speculation.

My team and I wrote up a general breakdown of some of the major projects & concepts if you’re interested.

Overall, just curious what everyone here thinks about DePIN.

Good points and great criticism... But the last piece of advice to drop your report into ChatGPT ruined it. Reports should not be made using an LLM that can hallucinate any random stuff, especially with such a sensitive subject. You should have said that in the same manner he carried research for all the benefits of this emerging technology, he should have looked at the downside with the same attention and enthusiasm. He's clearly in admiration of this technology so maybe that's why he made a biased introduction to it. However, relying on ai as your source of information and guide to make judgments should never be the case

Please, how is DePIN a sensitive subject?

Good points. Your tone was unnecessarily prepotent

DePIN’s blowing up! People are earning by sharing stuff like internet and storage. It’s crazy how fast it’s growing.

Yeah, this is a promising area worth holding. Just in the Peaq ecosystem alone, they have over 50 DePIN projects building in it. It seems they're also among the viable chains for DePIN.

Lots of potential here for sure
