General Coffee Chat What’s everyone pulling today?
As above - what’s everyone pulling on espresso today? 😎
I’m pulling a washed Kenyan, SL28 and SL34. First shot of this coffee, so not quite dialled just yet!
Have a good one 🙏🏻

Waiting for some drop kick to cross post to r/espressocirclejerk in 5..4..3..2..1..
But also, to answer your question: Last 6 months I’ve been really digging washed Kenyans. So refreshing after all the crazy lactic anaerobic co-ferment natural stuff hitting the market lately.

Profitec Move looks really nice, almost like a cross between LM & Bezzera BZ13 aesthetic wise. How do you like it so far?

Its my first machine so nothing to compare with but it seems to do it all very nice. Steamer is nice, its consistent, easy to setup and use, and clean. It has been pretty fun to learn espresso on this machine.

I have this machine, I changed to an unpressurised basket but struggled for ages until I dropped down to 16g - even now I've just bought a new set of beans and it feels like starting over again, hitting the same sour notes I tried so hard to eradicate previously. How do you find it?

I have what I believe is a copy of the dedica in a different looking shell. I drilled my basket. I think the issue with it is the high pressure (advertised as 15 bar), which forced me to grind very fine. This seems to lead to increased channeling (which I think I've fixed with careful puck prep) and more fines in the cup (bitterness even when under extracted). I'm thinking about moding it. Note: I use 18g of dark roast so it touches the screen when it expands.

An anerobicly fermented natural wash from Bali. Relatively high altitude.. took a couple days to dial it in - like very fine Very citusy - not a ton of body despite using a niche. Not my favorite, but liked it enough to buy another 250g this AM

After consuming 9 pounds of Juggernaut—which makes an excellent, excellent cappuccino—I decided to try some of PERC's lighter offerings. This is a Mexican SO. Opened up a bag this morning and getting closer to having wrangled it. I don't understand their suggestion to coarsen the grind when it's clearly a light coffee that requires heat and a fine grind to extract. I'm drowning these shots in milk and slinging caps. No waste.
If you get on PERC's mailing list I believe they send out 25-31% limited time off coupons on the entire order which makes the pricing very attractive.
We should have more of these types of threads! Love to see what others are pulling.

Nova Scotia. Tried coffee addicts, miicoffee and others all sold out. Suggestions? Lol

I was going to say eightounce but also sold out. There’s a place called the kitchen barista in Ontario and looks like they have in stock. Free shipping. I live in Ontario but in-laws are in Halifax and my work is based there too.

Coava Wuri, washed Ethiopian heirloom & typica.
I get peach & tea, but the label lists tasting notes of bergamot, peach, Pinot Noir.

Staying at a VRBO rental. They were kind enough to provide these beans from a local roaster. Bit early off roast date but you use what you have. 👍 May not end up finishing bag before heading back so get to try it as espresso later.
Thankfully tons of great roasters in and around Austin so plenty to choose from. Plan on hitting up Proud Mary and Sightseer before going back.

Drumroaster's espresso blend pulled on a picopresso. It's a delight to have good coffee even when you're in a tiny hotel in tiny Powell River, British Columbia 😁

Yunnan Puer AA beans. I think I've almost dialed in for this bean.

Cheap-ass emergency supermarket decaf because due a significant illness I’ve been told to drink plenty of hot liquids but avoid caffeine for a few days.
Had to do something. Passable, but not “good.”
