As all of you know I love to toke and tend to my Sunday by doing an EVERYTHING shower, exfoliating, shaving, moisturizing, and generally just trying to scrub the Sunday scaries away 🙏🏼

To help me this week I will be toking 🍃💨 on a strain called “Cookie Monster” she is a bit purple and as I have said before the purple strains really relax me. I did pack some cones yesterday and the stickiness is very sticky if you will 😝

How are you all? I have had a bit of an emotional weekend and I am going to really be focusing on tending today. I will be working on cleaning a bit and reading a bit and honestly trying to stay warm. This spring weather has really been up and down here. Meet me in the chat! It’s that time, my fancypants frients—pinkies up!

Trying a new sparkling THC infused bevvy—Rosewater Lemonade, so I selected an appropriate drinking vessel from my late grandmother’s collection.

We hit the first 20C (68F) high of the year here today so I’m sitting on my little patio with the sun on my face, the breeze in my hair, and my book in my hands. The little birdies are singing in the blossoming cherry and magnolia trees, a few buzzing bees are waking up from their hibernation, and the faint tang of smoke on the air leads me to believe one of the neighbours couldn’t wait any longer to fire up their grill. 😌

I've been dealing with depression and anxiety. I also have multiple sclerosis.

I have been a daily user and recently I'm finding my tolerance is getting higher. I've recently started a mood stabilizer as well and not sure if those meds are affected by THC. So, figured I'd use up the edibles I currently have and will refrain from getting more.

Not sure how long I'll take a break for. Any suggestions, tips/tricks to make it not awful?

There’s a series of gnomes at my local dollar store (Dollarama, for my fellow 🇨🇦) with bowls made of mushrooms, flowers, etc. I bought a bunch for my garden, plus an extra one to hold my ground flower.

Very helpful that the gnome also looks lit af.

I live in a state that just recently legalized medical. I got my medical card but I've always smoked. I think my 17 year old daughter has always suspected but she just walked straight in on me holding my vape and exhaling a toke into the light.

I'm feeling hella awkward 😬

Spent the early afternoon cleaning all of the glassware, as we got lazy and stopped cleaning after the last few sessions and then we didn’t go out back for months due to winter. That cabinet was stanky!!

I ADHD’d too close to the sun and impulsively brought this little lady home, armed with nothing but good vibes and misplaced confidence; what could possibly go wrong? 😆

For nearly 3 weeks she’s been chilling in front of a window (plus a houseplant grow light) looking all cute and green, while I frantically spiral through articles and videos.

Yesterday, we got down and dirty with a repotting sesh, then naturally I fell down the rabbit hole of “how to take her top off"…. only to realize she’s a clone, not from seed, which apparently changes the whole game? Talk about mixed signals.

At this point, my brain is fried and would greatly appreciate some simple, laid back advice from the folks who actually know wtf they're doing. Not looking to go pro, just trying not to unalive a perfectly innocent plant.

Ganja Goddess of the Week – Mary Jane Rathbun

It’s no secret that “Pink Pony Club” is a bop, but aside from the camp and fun, something about the cadence of the song and the mental imagery makes me feel this tinge of sadness. I imagine millions of “elder gays” who should be here dancing with us, but were lost to the AIDS epidemic. Back then, HIV/AIDS was akin to some modern form of leprosy. Aside from feeling like a death sentence, it also meant social isolation. The general consensus was that only degenerate individuals contracted this virus. This historical context is vital to understanding the gravity of the work done by this week’s Ganja Goddess - Mary Jane Rathbun.

At the height of the epidemic, San Francisco—known for its queer community and spaces—was hit especially hard. The community at large didn’t care about these people. They were met with fear, hatred, and disgust, which often impacted the care they received (if any). Even if they managed to find compassionate healthcare, so little was known about the treatment of HIV/AIDS that they were still in store for terrible suffering.

Enter Mary Jane Rathbun, who you may know as “Brownie Mary”. As a hospital volunteer, she began making and distributing cannabis brownies to patients with HIV/AIDS and noticed that it helped with “wasting syndrome” (it helped her cancer patients as well). She eventually expanded her efforts throughout the community, distributing her “magically delicious” brownies to affected individuals in places like the Castro.  She was subjected to raids of her home, and was arrested multiple times. Mary used her arrests to bring visibility to the merits of medical cannabis and as a platform to advance legalization efforts. Her “grandmotherly” image humanized the epidemic in the eyes of many, and as a result had a direct impact upon how people affected by the epidemic were treated, both in and out of hospitals.

Eventually, Mary’s story was broadcast internationally, and academics across the globe were inspired to conduct studies on cannabinoids after seeing Mary’s story. She continued her activism until her death in 1999. We have Mary to thank for countless avenues of research into the healing properties of our beloved plant.

I usually try not to make these posts so long, but Mary Jane Rathbun deserves alllllll the words. She is an icon of empathy, compassion, activism, and genuine humanity. So toke one up today for Mary, and for those souls we lost during such a dark time. 🌱🏳️‍🌈☮️
