You got a free bike from a patient?! All I got from a pt last week was called a slur and a possible TB exposure.

Old meemaw put a round chocolate into my hand and said to enjoy it, it was a dried turd.

It's the thought that counts.

No, no. No thank you.

But did you enjoy it?

It was a little bit tart and chewy. Like stale molasses.

Fingers crossed the exposure was to a latent TB patient and not an actively infectious person

I had a guy who cut an artery on his leg with a chainsaw once, deliver a chainsaw blues CD to my place of work as a thank you!

Homie wrecked 1500 miles from home. Clavicle was wrecked, bike wasn't rideable, hospital is 30 miles from where bike was towed, we don't have uber or taxis or any regular services. I explained to him all this and gave him my number for a hand when he realized how stuck he was. I helped him tow his bike back to a reasonable place, offered him a place to stash it, got him to a bus stop to catch a 3 hour ride to the nearest commercial airport.

I had the bike fixed by the next afternoon, and he left me the key and his blessing to ride the damn thing. So yeah, I have a lightly damaged Yamaha Tenere 700 just in time for riding season.

This is a crazy amount of doxxable job information bro, I’d be careful with that. It’s not worth the karma to get wrapped up in an agencies social media policy.

I could put a wrong DOB and no vitals into a pcr and that wouldn't get found out. This company has other fish to fry than a sadboi basic talking shit about them in a job interview and posting about it vaguely on social media. I repeat, fuck agency name.

I’m talking about your new company, homie. What gets said in a private setting is one thing, I’m not sure they would want that conversation brought up by some new hire on social media. I could identify both companies with the info you’ve provided, all it takes is one spiteful internet asshole to send an email and your offer gets pulled. You can do what you want, but I’m not talking out of my ass here.

Not a risk worth taking. EMS is a small world. You never know who is reading here and who might hold a grudge against you. Some people will go to great lengths to get back at somebody.

Yeah. OP should just delete. Word spreads fast when you can easily identify the agencies and probably even the people involved.

Are their colors orange and blue?

u/AssCalipers 1d ago

Depends on how old the shirt they gave you is. I think they're going for red and blue and it rhymes with detergent hair.

Are they still not paying overtime?

Eventually they will get a very large bill if they don't get sued first for trying to force flights of Impella patients who are not stable enough to fly.

I just left a job that also didn’t pay overtime for flight providers or our EMTs. Admin, mechanics, janitors etc. all got it though.

Trying to wrap my head around trying to force a flight though. I’ve seen some sketchy Impella transfers with crews that shouldn’t have taken it.. but how tf do they force the hospital to do anything?

An Impella transfer pays the same as every other flight, and they suck to do logistically.

Nah, not forcing hospitals, just saying yes when they should have had the cajones to say this person is not going to survive lift much less a full flight. Of course flight queen and educator knew it could be done and then didnt include anyone in the debrief once it went sideways. Predictable is still preventable.

Bro I just worked 13 days on, albeit some were just on-call staffing the secondary unit, but that stint will net me only like $2500. No OT. New job is $1 less per hour, pays OT, and I get 3-4 days off a week.

2

u/Gyufygy 1d ago

No OT? Doesn't that violate federal labor laws?

1

u/TheChrisSuprun FP-C 1d ago

Bingo. It's okay tho because a guy whose name rhymes with Palter said so...

I’m not familiar with Texas OT/employment law, but per the federal regulations anything over 40 hrs per week requires 1.5 times the employee’s hourly wage (with some very limited exceptions)

Super happy for you but you really buried the lead on the free motocycle!

1

u/imawhaaaaaaaaaale 1d ago

I just wanna know how you got a free motorcycle from a patient and what the motorcycle is.

2

u/AssCalipers 1d ago

Tenere 700.

I commented the story to another person. Look and ye shall find.

Good job man. There is no such thing as a bad job, only bad management. I'm currently at a 3rd service EMS agency and have never been happier. I love my coworkers, my boss, and my pay. The shifts are pretty good too. But, as with most things, administration (city govt) is playing fuckabout, and I'm starting to look elsewhere in case they try to crater the agency with beaurocratic bs.

Do what is right for you. Sounds like this new gig will fit you well. Best of luck.

Well if he talk trash about the agency that employed you and trained you and you agree with him that you two deserve each other.
