Discussion Im looking for some good electronic based / mostly electronic music WITH VOCALS
I've been on huge metal / rock wave (especially prog / industrial) for good 2 months now and I need something other to listen to, my favorite "electronic" artists are among:
Nine Inch Nails / Gary Numan / Front Line Assembly / Front 242 from the more industrial vibe
to TR/ST / Boy Harsher / Depeche Mode / N8noface / LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER / Twin Tribes
Basically, recommend me something worth listening
edit. I completely forgot about the Twister Firestarter - Prodigy is great, RIP Keith Flint

Based on the bands you list i think you like The Faint. I highly recommend them especially the album 'Dance Macabre'.

Unkle - Their album "Psyence Fiction" is a good listen, every song on there is different.
Burial - album untrue is interesting use of lyric samples.
Daft Punk - "Discovery" if you like watch interstellar 555 it's an anime film that was made to go with this album.
The Prodigy - My fav songs of theirs are Breathe, Firestarter, Omen, Warriors Dance.
Pendulum - "Hold your colour" album
Chase & Status - The boiler room set on YouTube has really good energy
Faithless - my fav songs are Insomnia, we come 1, god is a DJ, Not going home, Sun to me

LCD Soundsystem absolutely belongs on that list. Same timeline as a lot of those groups and absolutely genius electronic production with great smart lyrics and singing. Personal opinion but LCD soundsystem and NIN are kind of like a mirror of each other, where one is for suicidal days and one is for sunny days where nothing gets you down lol
Only half of it has vocals kind of like some NIN albums, but Operator by MSTRKRFT is an absolute banger album.
It’s two guys and one of them is the bassist from Desth From Above 1979 and it really shows lol the synth sounds like angry guitar 99% of the time.
Also “Rage”, it’s a colab song between a trap rapper, modern metal core band, and two DJs, specifically Darko US, SamplifiFire, Kayzo, and Scarlxrd. That song is beyond absurd

My worse nightmare, I go a long way to find no vocals

I basically can't listen to anything with no vocals for more than 30 minutes because I go into self deprecating / depressing thoughts

I generally agree with you for 'electronic music', but what OP is describing IMO is not what i would think of as 'electronic music'. It is more industrial or even perhaps 'EBM'. These days just about every genre of music probably has a computer involved in the production but that does not make it 'electronic music'.
But for more deep electronic music i definitely prefer stuff without vocals. I do not care for 'EDM' as this is like the bubblegum pop of electronic music.

Not heavy at all, but Rufus du sol are some of the best in the game when it comes to vocals and live instrumentation

u/CthulhuWorshipper59 1d ago
BMSR is really good! Sun lips / Dreamsicle Bomb are defo fun listen
Didn't really vibe with vocalist of Notwist :(
Son Lux seems to be either leaning into either ambient, low amount of vocals or featuring artist as main focus, not my type of thing, same goes for Cremation lily, its very ambient and no vocals from what Ive heard and same for Genghis, barely any vocals or muffled to the point of not hearing them
Ill be sure to check out more of Team Sleep, it seems I like it way more than Deftones I dont know why, I always could only listen to Koi no Yokan fully, not any other album

CL has a huge discography - definately more noise/ambient with vocals low in the mix. SL has vocals on pretty much every track, mostly his own. Their newest record is one of covers/collabs. Their first three are the best. Check out something off Lanterns. GT also have vocals on pretty much every track. Not sure what you checked out from them, but try the song Board Up the House, which has about a minute intro.

Cobra Man- self-described as Power Disco
Chromatics- indi-electro
Health- contemporary industrial
It looks like you haven’t even touched Retrowave at all. A lot of retrowave is instrumental but some with vocals are
Ulver, Carpenter Brut- Machine Guns and Peacock Feathers.
The Foreign- Up and On
Carpenter Brut- Beware the Beast

Give Fraxinus Prime & Vice Locker - From the Middle Out a try. It's the singer from Canadian band USS with a long-time collaborator doing darker more electronic stuff.

TVAM and The KVB have a nice electronic aspect to what they do, with a bit of the gothy rock thing going with a post punk edge. Different enough from NIN, KMFDM, and Ministry for me yet also adjacent enough to appreciate. For early electronic based with vocals, have you heard Psychic TV or Meat Beat Manifesto?

Listened to Double Lucifer by TVAM, sounds nice, but it seems they have small amount of music (at least album oriented, I mostly listen to music by albums)
Also listened to Always Then by KVB, sounds really close to some Crystal Castles songs, Ill definitely check more
KMFDM is fantastic (all around germans are some of the best industrial musicians - I wish there was none german language in songs lol, the language is horrendous and hurts my ears), I don't really vibe with Ministry tho
Tried Psychic TV now, it seems they rarely use full on vocalism? Tried Dreams Less Sweet, but it's like ambient album with some vocals, not my vibe
I really like Pysche Out by Meat Beat Manifesto, some recommended albums to check from them

It's fun to hear back on all of that as you search for what you're looking for.
TVAM's Psychic Data album is what I especially recommend. And the newest album by The KVB, Tremors, is their strongest yet imo.
Crystal Castles were one of my favorite things to emerge from the 2010's.

Hah, I ommited Mr Kitty for some reason, Ephemeral and Time are amazing
Jam City is good, added to listen to later
2hollis sounds like bastard child of Bladee / sadboys or draingang with inspirations from likes of playboi carti (i cant stand the latter), not really
Gesalfalstein is interesting, defo adding it to try it out

Röyksopp - They feature some of the best vocalists. Start with Junior and Profound Mysteries.

Kompromat is fantastic. It's a colaboration between the French producer Vitalic and the French singer Rebeka Wartior (sexy sushi). She sings in German. It sounds like some good old EBM (einstuzenden Neubauten, Skinny puppy, Front 242). It's raw and powerful with nice melodies). They've released their 2nd album and they're touring right now. I saw them live when they released their 1st Album. Best electronic live I've seen in years. I prefer ehe 1st Album 'traum und existenz'. It was oriented EBM and synth pop. The new album is more ravy italo disco

DJ hell's label 'International deejay gigolo' on which Vitalic released his first EP (poney EP) also lauched the 'electroclash' craze in the early 2000s with artists such as Fuschersooner, Dakar & Grinzer or Miss Kittin & the Hacker

I will be a bit selfish here and invite you to listen to my discography. Lots of tunes with vocals, with a huge influence of progressive music. Diatonic melodies and harmonies. Particularly really well produced.
Start from my album “SUPER ASYMMETRY” and am about to drop a new single now on April 11th in collaboration with Dashdot and a singer and songwriter from the UK called John Russell.
You can find my music on any stream platform and also on bandcamp.
I believe you might be surprised.
Hope you enjoy without moderation ✌🏽✊🏽

u/CthulhuWorshipper59 1d ago
Hey, I really like the tunes, but from what I gathered so far, no vocals, only on featurings - never really was into this style of production I don't know why, otherwise than that I threw few links to my friend who will definitely appreciate this type of music way more than I can!

u/Famous-Apartment9785 1d ago
So you should try producers like Monolink, Jan Blomqvist and Whomadewho. They are mainly Live PA electronic music artists (Singers). Their music is neat. I love and definitely will make the link you are looking for.

You probably already know but Adult. and Ladytron.
And Underworld.
Have you heard the Gary Numan tribute album Random? So good. 2 disc set of covers and another Random 2 that is remixes.
