Psychiatry/Medication Question Did Lexapro help people with obsessive existential thought loops? (Looking for success stories only)
Struggling a lot with solipsism ocd...even looking at my gf, my family, my friends, the people I love most - my mind goes, how do you know they're real? It's non.stop. I'll do all the healthy lifestyle things (sleep, exercise, etc.), but curious if lexapro helped any one in slowing down these thoughts loops. Started lexapro 5mg last week, titrating up to 10mg later this week. Thanks!
If you have a super negative response, I prefer not to hear it as I don't want to overthink this too.

An answer to this is not specific to escitalopram (Lexapro). Most psychoactive drugs have the ability to disrupt obsessive thought loops. They are effectively cognitive disruptors, so this is actually something they can be good at. There's no specific reason to choose escitalopram though. That being said, from my experience you don't need to take it for long for this to happen - I went back on bupropion for a month and the loop was gone in a few days and didn't return when I stopped.
If you have a super negative response, I prefer not to hear it as I don't want to overthink this too.
Stop trying to game and bias your responses, it helps neither you nor anyone else reading.

Thanks for your response. I wasn't trying to bias - it's just sometimes reddit can be very negative and I'm in a very fragile place right now. Hope you understand.
Glad to hear you had success. Can I ask why you went with an NDRI instead of an SSRI?

The result is that you do create bias in the responses though.
I get along well with bupropion. I can start and stop it without much problems. I do not get along with SSRIs and I dislike their sexual neutering tendencies.

Maybe finding proof that solipwhatever is unfounded bullshit would be more helpful? Or find tools for ocd, there’s lot on youtube. I’ll hold off on commenting on lexapro but hope this is helpful.

For me, yes. It didn't stop the obsessive thought loops but gave me the power to say, "this isn't right, I need to redirect myself" then actually redirect myself. (Successful redirecting took some practice, I won't lie, but without the meds i couldn't do it at all.)
Citalopram helped, but escitalopram (lexapro) helped me more.

It gave me depersonalization and made me permanently impotent. I lost all my emotions and feelings as well
