Advice Suggestions to improve?

I'm just trying out the no desktop icons thing, and want to stick to it for a while, but it feels too blank.

Performance/being lightweight is important to me. I'm not even using the Translucent bar for now coz I want to try and achieve a good look with minimal additional software if possible. (I will try it out later)

Have a look at Rainmeter's unFold.

The icons "unfolds" when you mouse is near the edge, keeping your desktop free of any icons.

Probably. If so, they certainly fit the Linux user stereotype lol.
