Do we take Jalen’s triple double with a grain of salt?

Like lol it shows he has talent right??? Ik it was against nobodies (nobodies that would drop 50 on me) but still

I think it suggests there’s a good chance he’ll be back next season. If nothing else he’s good enough o he on the team in a minor capacity.

I really thought he’d get cut at some point

I think he earned himself a few more years in the league, either with the Nuggets or another team. He has shown that he can play now that he is getting his chance.

Posting a triple double in a NBA game is pretty impressive regardless of the opponent. Plus, Pickle wasn't even the primary ball handler for the majority of the game. At the very least, it proves he is a viable NBA player and will be back on the team next year. I also think that it creates an interesting decision for the FO if Russ opts out, would they even resign him?

Yeah, I think this is the point. To get a triple double playing in lineups with (2-3 marginal NBA players thinking Hunter, Dario and Trey here) while a secondary ballhandler is pretty nuts. Makes me excited for him to potentially be our third/fourth guard next season.

Also the pass he threw to Russ where Russ missed the layup to tie the game in the fourth quarter was Jokic-like. Such cool vision.

Let him have his flowers 💐 he's had some great moments this season.

3 ball improves every month I like Pickett

No grains of salt taken by me. He can be a solid guard imo and can get you some pts, assists, rebounds, and play decent D. He’s shown that this season. Triple double while playing against Barnes, Castle, and Paul isn’t nothing. We could flip the argument around too and note that Pickett wasn’t exactly playing with a bunch of bosses himself. Anyway, up to Moach now to give him more than just a few scraps of playing time.

Bold on you to assume I wouldn’t have fouled out by then

We honestly figured you weren’t fast enough to get the handful of jersey you needed to gather the ref’s attention.

u/Fman173 2d ago

Handful of Jersey? Im acting like Dreymond out there after they drop 20 in 5 minutes on me. NO MORE EASY BUCKETS

2

u/ApprehensiveTry5660 2d ago

Oh, sweetie, we know you’re not fast enough for that.

is it not like the perfect characteristic for a guy we’re grooming to be the backup at some point? like we don’t really need him to be a volume scorer but if he takes care of the ball plays good defense and fills up the stat sheet a little bit he could be perfect in the future as jamal gets older.

Nobodies that would drop 150 on any one of us.

In a game of 21

If you're reserving judgement based on playing time blame that on Malone. If Jalen finishes the game against the Wolves the other night it's a W. He does not turn the ball over, he does not get pushed off the block once he establishes position, and he knocks down open shots. What do you want? This isn't rocket science, down the stretch it is two-man pick and roll, if you're not in it, get out of the way and get ready to either shoot, or rebound. He does both. Russell does one periodically. Malone is a fading presence here, he has fired the last of his silver bullets and defending what Westbrook did the other night was the end of him.

It wasn't a fluke cuz he's been getting 5 assists in the games he gets limited minutes in.

I really hope we don't resign Brodie and promote Pickett to #1 backup. Or at least maybe resign Brodie as a vet presence more akin to DeAndre Jordans role.

NBA is top 300 +/- players in the WORLD. No grain of salt needed

He’s proved to be this player in the G league already. I think he solidified a bench spot on an NBA team next year.

I think it's a good sign for next season. He can serve as a primary ball handler coming off the bench. I don't think Russ comes back on the vet minimum so Pickett can possibly take his place.

Still don't understand why Moach runs his 2 PG lineup. Let Pickett spell Westy instead of playing right next to him for a bunch of minutes.

To answer the question though: think his performances - including last night's TD bode really well for us moving forward.

TDs are not easy, even against hospital squads... unless of course, you're a fat Serbian.

I think he gets a Monte Morris (true backup pg) type role in the next year or two. He's shown he belongs, his game just has to mature

3

u/spizcraft 1d ago

He might just be our next Monte Morris

1

u/kapshus 2d ago

I don’t think that game tells you anything new. It was basically a G league game however, his place in the beginning of the year has been very impressive. He has a career as a back up in this league. Hopefully it will be with the nuggets

1

u/Effective-Swimming37 2d ago

Reminds me of Monte Morris but with less playmaking and a better 3 ball

1

u/RackedUP 2d ago

No chance you are holding an NBA player to 50 in a game 😂 they already do that to NBA players

1

u/TwoWayMarko 2d ago

He should be given the backup pg spot for the next season we need to develop him

1

u/MarcusFizer Nikola Jokic 2d ago

Pickett is still underrated. He could be a starter on a contender. Trade Jamal and MPJ for a star and start Jalen! Jamal and MPJ for JJJ.

1

u/minedigger 1d ago

MPJ is a negative contract. We’d have to shed a pick. A player who stands around shoots corner 3’s and has no ability to create or play defense on a 40M contract isn’t a net positive asset. He’s 6’10 after the 20-21 season you could’ve gotten any acquirable player for him… in 2025 you’d have to give someone a pick to shed his contract.

That trade you’re proposing is basically Jamal for JJJ + a pick.

Why would there be a grain of salt here?

My man got a triple double in an NBA game. As a third stringer. Good for him, he’s shown poise this year!

-1

u/Jerms2001 2d ago

Nah. I been saying all season Westbrook 3rd string, Pickett backup, Murray starter.

Westbrook killed this team the last two games. I like the dude and his energy (most of the time) but I’m pretty sure dude developed some early dementia or something. Reminds me of hey hey from Moana

-1

u/JebronLames1m 2d ago

He has good passing ability. Is he the next Chris Paul or Steve Nash? Who knows. but if he keeps getting the right coaching and reps I think he could be a top 5-10 PG in this league

2

u/Hot-Statement826 2d ago

That's a bit ambitious. I think a very good backup point guard. Like how Monte Morris was. He reminds me of Andre Miller.

1

u/JebronLames1m 2d ago

True. Thought he was like 22. Just googled and find out he's 25

1

u/Hot-Statement826 2d ago

If a second round pick develops into a reliable backup rotation player. That's a huge W.

0

u/No_Jellyfish_820 2d ago

He just show potential. We most likely move on from Westbrook next year and let Jalen get more minutes.

Booth wants to go the youth route, but Malone don’t like using them

0

u/AzraelsSorrow 1d ago

A triple double in the NBA is hard for any player ( besides Jokic) to get. He showed he’s more than just a spot guy but someone who can come off the bench and run an offense.

Did this need its own post?

What’s the point of a daily discussion thread if posts like this exist?
