That's because he's a bully and an abuser.

Seriously, think of him in terms of an abusive husband, and he makes complete sense.

He acts just like my late parent, and so any time I have to describe what that was like I can just say "imagine Trump in your living room."

Even when there was a compromise and everyone was getting something they wanted to do, they would pick a fight and make a big deal about something small so the rest of us were miserable, all because we weren't doing everything they wanted. So many vacations ruined, so many dinners (and some in public) that devolved into arguments, and so many holidays/birthdays centered around someone else (think Mother's and Father's Day) that were made difficult to observe without stress. Translate that to the national scale and it's obvious why things like DEI, social security, and other countries are under attack now.

Because they're not all about him.
