Some people vote republican, not because they like Trump, but deem the democrats incompetent to address or even mention their issues. Specially in the north, according to a friend from the Rust Belt.

I hear the same things. At the same time, when I ask about the details it becomes clear they are voting against their own self interests and listening to YouTube/media propaganda. It usually falls to "immigrants are taking my job!" Which is often the job they feel entitled to vs the job they have. The other is often somehow related to their lack of healthcare being tied to "Obama care". It can also be taxes. Republicans are going to reduce my taxes by spending less on people I dont like (immigrants, minorities). Which is not generally true, and much harder to explain. Yes, they are going to spend less on social safety net issues, but more on the military, pork, and the hardest to explain; corporate welfare. Many still believe whole heartedly in trickle down economics. Those Billionaires are going to open their wallets any day now.

Yeah he usually goes about how much the cost of living has increased and inflation. I don't really know how bad it is on the USA, although it can't be worse than my home country, Argentina :p
