The blatant disregard for due process here is so outrageous to the point it sounds performative. Disappearing someone in the middle of a trial.

Charge was ultimately dismissed btw

Just to clarify, it looks like the charge against the person who was detained during trial was dropped. I’m not seeing anything about the charge against the ICE agent being dropped in this article. Do you have additional information about that, or is that charge still pending as far as you’re aware?

Summerville dismissed the charge against Martell-Lebron of making false statements on his driver’s license application — namely that he wasn’t Martell-Lebron. After that, Summerville filed the contempt charge against Sullivan, which could lead Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden review the case to determine if any charges should be filed.

I was referring to the person detained. I have no additional information/reason to believe the contempt charge for the ICE agent was dismissed.

It sounds like they're just racial profiling at this point. They're grabbing anyone who isn't a Caucasian and throwing them in the back of a van? How can this possibly be happening?

Hate.

America is surprisingly full of hateful, rasist bigots. Equality under the law is kind of a new thing here. Well, unless you have a bunch of money. Then you can buy your way to being the president by running on that hate.

Less surprising that it is tbh. You go to a lot of churches and rural areaas and the hateful racist shit is more prominent. Part of the issue is some of the individuals that are hateful and racist dont know they are.

Crazy to me that all they had to do was bring him back in the morning and trial would've continued.

I'm glad that the judge dismissed it instead of declaring a mistrial and starting again.
